Texas better get their shit together and start a bidding war. Fuck aggy. Time to start using our might. While we're at it, use Patterson to discuss the deals and do what he does best - shit talk other programs. I'm tired of only collected $$$ and not deploying it. We can do the bag game and NIL.

Thats going to continue. They're on the Georgia plan until someone or something forces them off of it. It's going to make recruiting very difficult for us. I still think our NIL trajectory is something to feel very very good about. I kind of still cant believe it. Just gonna take time.

money talks! as barbacoa said, cash is king.

Money in hand is always gunna be tempting, those saying it wouldn't remain so were kidding themselves. BUT NIL is going to be the main draw in the end. The Texas NIL programs should be even more impressive to these guys before the '23 class signs. A&M may then become TOO desperate.

I just wish we could know how much they are offering in bag and in "NIL"

Just so at least we know what we are dealing with.

If you're the Mannings how do you convince yourself Sark is the guy here at Texas? How do you even assess him without more results from next season?

Here's a hypothetical- would you guarantee Sark's job for as long as Manning is here if it meant landing the QB and getting a top 5 class around him?

The guy on campus is probably better, for starters. Beyond that, while @Huckleberry makes a fine point, it's not in the spirit of your intent on the question. In that spirit, I'll say that it's a stupid question and the answer is "no". Texas did similar shit with Garrett Gilbert and his "alleged" serial rapist dad. Just no.

We've discussed this stuff pretty openly and you've been here reading it. The numbers are in the low to mid 6 figures depending upon situation, which makes Jimbo buying Marvin Wilson for $80k or Saban buying Waddle for $80k seem quaint.

There will be a ton of NIL developments during the lead up to this upcoming season, for UT and many others, ATM included. That end is going to be so big across the span of the sport that it's going to make everything else look silly. Some of that will absolutely impact the 2023 cycle.

Mostly, Texas is way behind on the 2023 because Seven Loss Steve and his merry band of fuckups had a shit season in 2021. On top of that, Coleman, Kwiatkowski, and Choate are terrible recruiters. The recruiting support staff is also terrible. You can say "at least Coleman is gone" and that would be right, I guess.

Barring a kick ass turnaround 2022 season, I expect this 2023 class to be solidly guard-railed inside the top 15-25 range. If Texas lands Manning, that gets them into the top 10, but if he doesn't commit until Texas plays Bama close, actually beats UTSA and Oklahoma and is off to a 5-1 start, the ship will have sailed on many recruitments ahead of that. Obviously if Texas shits itself for the season again, assume the position and an awesome top 30-ish class.

just incredible seeing A&M cherry picking whoever the fuck they want.

Literally anyone could do it if they had the boosters willing to. It’s all money. They’re so desperate that they just hired a DC that had a player die because of his programs culture and an OL coach who’s had multiple allegations of racism. They’re turning a blind eye to player arrests. They’re recruiting headcases. They don’t care. They want a championship like it’s the only thing that matters in life.

Scoop:

High school recruiting

During an eventful Junior Day, the staff handed out a handful of offers to 2023 and 2024 prospects, plus 2025 wide receiver Dakorian Moore from Duncanville and 2026 defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart from Reserve, La. It's early in the 2023 cycle, but UT has put itself in good position with a number of junior targets. Let's look closer.

RB Cameron Cook, Stony Point (Round Rock, TX) - The 5-foot-10, 180-pound On3 four-star already held a strong list of offers with USC, Utah, Ole Miss, and Cincinnati. Cook now looks to build a relationship with Tashard Choice, who was one of the first coaches to come see him last week. More in the all-purpose back mold, Cook would be a good No. 2 running back to priority prospect Rueben Owens from El Campo. Choice is also recruiting nationally, primarily in the southeast.

RB Bryan Jackson, McKinney (McKinney, TX) - 2024: It didn't take Choice long to offer the 6-foot-0, 200-pound between-the-tackles-tailback. Jackson is one of the budding ball-carriers in the state for the 2024 cycle and the Horns promptly offered the rising star. Michigan State, Ole Miss, OU, and Oklahoma State have all jumped into the fray for Jackson, who tallied almost 1,000 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns in his sophomore campaign. A trip to College Station or Waco is on schedule for this weekend.

WR/TE Jaden Greathouse, Westlake (Austin, TX) - 2023: The 6-foot-2, 215-pound On3 four-star playmaker has continually built a strong relationship with Steve Sarkisian and Jeff Banks. Now, Brennan Marion is in the mix. Texas wants to use Greathouse in multiple roles, notably wide receiver and flex tight end. The key is finding mismatches, Greathouse told IT. The highly productive state champion is no stranger to the Forty Acres. He wants to take spring visits to places like OU and Notre Dame, and insists a decision could come soon after that. He would like his spot secured before he begins his senior season. The excellent route runner is a priority for Texas.

WR Kyle Parker, Lovejoy (Lucas, TX) -2023: If you ask those close to the speedy receiver, Texas was the offer he was waiting on. Parker's first visit to Austin was everything he'd hoped with the UT offer serving as icing on the cake. Meeting Marion in person also topped his list on a special Saturday in the Parker household. Sarkisian has made his desire for speed a point of emphasis and Parker fits that mold. Another Texas target, Desoto's Johntay Cook, was pushing the UT staff to offer the 5-foot-10, 180-pound prospect. Now, Cook needs to get back to Austin after his trip to College Station.

TE Lafayette Kauiway, Sam Houston (Arlington, TX) - 2023: The 6-foot-4, 230-pounder is one of UT's biggest in-state priorities. No program in the nation shows him more love than the Longhorns. When Banks shows him tape of Billingsley, that's a great sign. He remains one of the best kept secrets in Texas high school football and the Horns would love to keep it that way. This continues to trend toward Texas until further notice.

OL Jaydon Chatman, Harker Heights (Harker Heights, TX) - 2023: The 6-foot-4, 285-pound On3 four-star always has a soft spot for the Longhorns. They were his first offer and that holds a special place in his heart. Alabama, LSU, Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and OU are in these sweepstakes, but this recruitment has a Devon Campbell feel to it. Texas was early on the nation's top offensive guards for 2022 and has maintained that lead throughout the process. UT and Kyle Flood will attempt the same here with one of the nation's top offensive tackles. He'll return for UT's Spring Game in April.

EDGE Ashton Porter, Cy-Ranch (Cypress, TX) - 2023: If there's one target for 2023 that's totally enamored with the Horns, it's the On3 four-star from Cypress. He still has trips to Baylor and Texas Tech on the agenda, but it'll be tough for those schools to gain traction. When IT asked him if he'd already picked out his locker in the dressing room, his smile radiated like the tower after a Texas win.

ATH Anthony White, Abernathy (Abernathy, TX) - 2023: This appears to be a Texas-Texas Tech recruiting war for the uber-athletic three-sport standout. Texas Tech has proximity and Joey McGuire is pushing the right buttons, but Texas safeties coach Blake Gideon has been tremendous in making up ground with the rising west Texas prospect.

2023 Flower Mound (Texas) Marcus wide receiver Ashton Cozart was excited to finally meet Marion, who helped create a feeling in Austin that Cozart described as "something special." Cozart praised Marion's "high-energy" recruiting style and all he has to offer in scheme, development, and recruiting.

It's good for Texas that Marion and Sarkisian were able to create that feeling for the No. 117 prospect in the On3 Consensus, because Cozart told Inside Texas part of the reason for his visit was to see Texas "one more time." That changed following the trip. Cozart said he was surprised by the quality of the visit and will make a return trip to Austin.

He currently doesn't know where he will visit next week, but he said he plans to take his official visits during the summer and make a decision before the season. Cozart was close to committing to Oklahoma before Lincoln Riley left the Sooners for Southern Cal. Brent Venables still has OU in the mix, but Sarkisian and Marion did work this weekend to keep Texas among Cozart's top choices.

2023 Frisco (Texas) Wakeland offensive lineman Connor Stroh received his offer during the Oklahoma State game, when Sarkisian and staff were hosting scores of recruits and preparing for the contest with the Cowboys. Stroh made the trip from the Metroplex to Austin in order to get a more detailed look at what he called the "guts of the program."

Sarkisian and Flood hit all the high notes during their interactions with the mountain of a lineman, and Stroh said he plans to return to Austin at some point in the spring. What really stood out to Stroh was a position meeting with Flood about how he would develop him on the field as linemen and off the field as a person for life after football.

Stroh plans to see Texas Tech and Baylor next week, and wants to let as many options roll in as possible. But in his own words: "I love Texas, so that’ll definitely weigh in. I love the coaches here. They made a good impression today."

2023 Arlington (Texas) Lamar offensive lineman Isaiah Robinson enjoyed learning more about the school and the football program. One of the big highlights for Robinson was going into the Longhorns' team room to hear perspectives from coaches and players about the program.

Robinson spent one-on-one time with Flood, who wowed Robinson with his presentation. Robinson wants to major in theater, and Texas' program is a plus according to the No. 209 prospect in the On3 Consensus.

He's still early in his process, but Robinson has Texas in his top group. He plans to spread his officials between the spring and fall, and doesn't have an idea of when he wants to shut it down. Like Stroh, he'll see Baylor next week.

Like both of these a lot.  I've seen both and can vouch.  Harker Heights was a rough and tumble team last season btw.

Is Cook going back to aggy this weekend?

Yes. He's from DeSoto and Mathis is not only back but his sons are on the team and at least one is being "recruited" by aggy. You can go ahead and assume Cook, Milliner-Jones, and Buford are going to be in CStat every weekend.

What's Mathis' deal beyond his kids being on the team?

I realize that Desoto has produced some ballers over the years, but has Mathis ever had a player sign with Texas that was ever actually worth a fuck? I feel like he's going to funnel guys that can compete at the next level to whoever is "working with him" the best and then will play a joke on a Texas staff that isn't paying attention.

NLI and bags aside, the big issue for ‘23 is the lack of team identify. Ewers, X and Bijan are all names that resonate with the ‘23s, so it’s imperative an identity around them is manufactured until we see the product on the field this fall. While it’s early with winter conditioning, we should be seeing content from at least their individual social media accounts (combined 250k+ followers) showing the work.

i'm guessing that the media department will be doing hype videos around Quinn throwing darts to Xavier over and over soon enough.
