Through about 8 now.

It is a slow burning show.  Ouch on Episode 5.

I love Bosch and the other characters.  Titus, Jamie, Amy , and Lance do a great job.  The writing is great.

I always look forward to it.

I am looking forward to watching the wrap up.

Spoilers ahead

Not a fan of how it ended.  Coming on the heels of cops denying they tortured a guy, an unrecorded confession in a fucking abandoned tunnel is not going to hold up in court.  Not with the kind of lawyers he can buy.  I know Bosch always has to do the lone wolf thing, but I didn't care for how they wrapped it up.

That was a strange payoff with the bike killer.  It's like the writers didn't know how to end it so they just said fuck it.

It got a little dusty with the final scene.

I love how this show uses Los Angeles.  Better than any other show.

I think you misunderstood the ending.

They're not getting him on the confession.  Bosch said that J. Edgar hearing it was enough for him.  But legally they're getting him on Elias, because they got him with the gun.   Possession, prints, the extra bullet from the train attendant found in the grass, Lincoln's direct testimony, and the financial evidence gets Walker dead to rights.

Agreed on the KTK killer.  There were some lulz with the goofy detectives, but it was a strange way to end such a long-running storyline.

I did find the China stuff a bit confusing.  I'm still not sure what the hell is going on with Reggie.

IMO this might be the best season yet.  The acting is top notch.  They didn't set up anything for next season, and the end really seemed like a conclusion.  I really hope this wasn't it.

As was said above, Bosch knows he'll never get Walker on his mom's murder but the confession to him and J.Edgar was enough for him to put it to rest.

I loved this season differently than the previous, I like that they basically spent the entire Season rehumanizing or recentering Bosch after the whole grey-area Ed Gunn story line from last season.

I was joking with my wife going into the finale that it's amazing that Bosch hasn't shot anyone this season. And he finished it that way.

Season 5 is confirmed so I'm sure it'll involve Walkers trial, the fallout from Irvin and the Mayor's power play, the potential FBI leak/tip to the Chinese. I just hope we don't have a Bosch in China going all Jack Bauer. I like the procedural bloodhound Bosch.

If to me, no. Never read any Bosch books.

I'm assuming it involves him in China?

First off, I'm an idiot.  It's "9 Dragons".

In the book, Eleanor takes a  job as a professional poker player at a casino in Hong Kong and meets hooks up with the Chinese dude.    Maddie gets kidnapped, and Harry goes to Hong Kong to find her.

So Bosch gets his own Taken movie.

Yeah, the confession didn't really matter legally. The key was getting the murder weapon in his hand.

Spoiler.

Terrific series, but, confusing at times. The KTK killer ending was a letdown. Kind of a thud. I thought for sure he had something to do with the Lawyer murder, and maybe that’s what the writers wanted us to think. But, that said, it’s a great cop show and I love his house and the jazz music and the overall feel of it. Acting and writing is top notch. I was really tense when his daughter went to clear her head.

Overall, I felt it wrapped up loose ends, except for the bike killer. It was one of the better seasons and it makes me want to watch them all again. Glad there’s another season coming, hopefully next year.

One thing, not sure which episode, but one of the detectives was leaving the war room and put on his coat, and you could see the back of it on him. The clip they put to tighten the back of the actor’s clothes, when the costume people dress them up (if the coat is too big), was still on it. A little thing.

Really enjoyed this season. I too thought the KTK killer was involved in Elias' murder. The last 10 minutes or so of episode 9 was superb. No dialogue, just Bosch investigating the route in the tunnel. And holy crap Elias must have had huge fingers for them to think that cylinder for the trick quarter was a ring!

Thought S4 was the best season. And no show uses and features LA the way this one does.
Only weird beat in this season is the KTK storyline. Just felt tacked on and totally unnecessary.

So true, it was very Michael Mann feeling. You felt the glitter, glam, grime and seediness of the city without having to continually show Hollywood or generic "this is LA!!!!!" Locations.

Just caught up. Overall really enjoying , although the pacing can be slow at times.

Did I miss something with J Edgar and his wife? End of season 3 he got shot and I thought that was the source of separation. But in this season she’s all like we’re divorced because you slept around and I don’t want to get back together. I feel like I missed an entire episode somewhere.
Also agreed that the KTK storyline was a letdown in how it wrapped up.
