During Monday's episode, he buzzed in first 56.15 percent of the time, found all three Daily Doubles and won $21,429 on them.

During his run, Holzhauer has provided 841 correct answers and only 27 incorrect responses, according to thejeopardyfa.com data, and through 23 games, only two contestants have gone into Final Jeopardy! within striking distance of Holzhauer.

Sheesh.

A 4:30 pm start time in the Waco/Temple/Killeen market, and the competitors seem to be competent. Zero misses thru the first segment.

And it was a perfect first round. Does that happen much?

Ha, Trebek said it happened just yesterday

everything went pear shaped when he bet a dinky 6k  on his DJ and james got a DJ a few questions later and the lead went from like 13K to about 3K just like that. Having the lead into FJ would'vre been James' fate...but we found out Nate is a freaking pansy when it comes to bets

Yeah, that was disappointing.  Nate should have beat him.  He played SJ so well including the true DD.  If he had also got the true DD to start DJ, he would have been up 26800 to 6600.  As it was, if James had missed his DD, it would have been 19400 to 0.  If either of those happen, I don't think James could have come back.  He only outplayed Nate by 8400 after the two DD in DJ to go from down 3000 to up 5400 going into FJ.

Nate's FJ bet was fine.  He could have bet up to 15000 but he had to bet small enough that he would win if they both missed, knowing that James had to be enough to win if Nate doubled up.

I also enjoyed that we got a Costanza correct question today - what is absolute zero?

James is like 26/27 in FJ. Hes a genius. 30 seconds to come up with an answer is like giving Usain bolt a minute to run the 200 meter.

Hes also a pro gambler who will bet enough to be just ahead of an all in second place guy if it's close going into FJ. If it's a run away, he'll be good with betting 30-40k and be ahead if he happens to miss.

Nate needed to go almost all in. And be just up enough of 3rd place if she hits her fj and you don't.

So yea.. shouldve been 23kish

The only way james gets toppled is if you clone a Nate with james' gambling balls. And a lead going into fj where you hold the cards... not cyborg

I think our perspective is forever skewed.  Dude was at ~$13k and bet $6k and was up by ~$6.5k at that point.  In hindsight it was the key miss, but if you go back in time 1.5 months, that's a solid/bold wager IMO.

Well, yeah.  It's a brave new world for sure.  By now I'm thinking the new players know what they're up against but maybe not.  Do they get to watch the previous day's taping?  Or only the games earlier in the day before they play?

Watching on the left coast. Just ready to go to final. That is a faping of the highest order.

Not to be pedantic, but isn't the hw library actually in University Park and not Dallas?

You sure?  The website gives the address as Dallas.

Not sure at all. Not sure how the park cities fit into the whole thing. I know they use Dallas addresses, but they have their own police, schools, City Hall, etc.

His only shot at victory was going all in,  you're not gonna win waiting for James to get an answer wrong

also its in Holzhauers nature to bet, and bet big. Hes already banked 2 million, whats losing a DJ for 20k to him? These guys trying to knock him off have to adapt to his nature and also realize that what theyre betting could be the difference between winning  50-80K or 2k. this is going to have to be the perfect storm. Nate "had it" for SJ...but fell to earth on DJ

Except if he'd bet properly he would have won,  he had the knowledge to beat him just not the strategy

Watched an episode for the first time since one of his first shows; didn't realize the massive underbite and weird autist smile before. Good for him though, not a bad trade off to be a quant genius rainman coupled with trivia knowledge who has harnessed his abilities to a multi-million gain.

"Jeopardy!" host Alex Trebek shared a "mind-boggling" cancer update in the latest issue of People magazine.

Three months after announcing that he'd been diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, the 78-year-old television veteran revealed that he's "near remission," despite the fact that the cancer has just a 9 percent survival rate.

Though he still has several more rounds of chemotherapy left, his doctors have told him that his body has responded well to the chemo that he's had so far.

"It's kind of mind-boggling," Trebek reflected. "The doctors said they hadn't seen this kind of positive result in their memory...some of the tumors have already shrunk by more than 50 percent."
