Whether you love or hate Trump, it's hard to fully comprehend this story without more details. A President could be lying to another foreign leader about a deal, or the President could be making an illegal deal. Or the whistleblower themselves doesn't understand enough to comprehend.  We don't know without context and understanding how it plays out.

Now if a President asks for a bribe or other personal benefit, it isn't so gray anymore.

It’s always good to wait and see what the facts are.

Check out this article by Robert Litt, general counsel of the DNI under Obama.  It’s a couple days old, but he addresses the recent happenings at the end of the article.

It just goes to show that they are stupid and/or liars.  Stricter abortion laws don't have a big impact on decreasing abortions.  They just make they less safe and more expensive.  Access to healthcare, access to contraceptives, and legitimate sex education (not abstinence only) significantly decrease the rate of abortions.  But those are three things evangelicals don't support.

One of my family members is a huge pro-lifer and used to go around to schools teaching abstinence-only bullshit. Her daughter got knocked up in high school. Oops!

Technically not treason since we are not in a declared state of war with Russia.

18 U.S. Code § 2381.Treason

Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States.

I don't think that's true.

How is enemy defined?  Russia is openly engaged in cyber warfare against us, and actively attempts to damage our interests throughout the globe. We do some of the same to them. Is a declaration of war required to be our enemy?

I would think that each act would have to be analyzed on its own.  When interests align, it's okay. When they don't, it isn't.

If you ask me, I'd call it treason when a nation is engaged in cyber attacks against the US election system and an elected or appointed US official tries to squash any attempt to investigate or stop those attacks.  The GOP calls that good bull.

It doesn't matter.  Say it fits the legal definition of treason.  Who's going to prosecute?  The Trump/Barr DOJ?  Who's even going to start impeachment proceedings?  I'm fully out on the ledge.  Nothing matters anymore.  Trump will get away with this and be reelected, even if he promised to nuke California in return for getting naming rights to a hotel in Pyongyang.

I spent a lot of time thinking about this, unfortunately.

You have to have so little self-respect that you are ok being lied to over and over.  You have to be ok with being told what to do.  You have to have an Abbottian spine  and be perfectly fine with someone bullying disabled people or a gold star family.  You have to believe that owning a gun makes you more of a patriot than someone who is expressing their freedom of speech.  You wear an american flag shirt to prove you are a love it or leave it 'murican but would rather be a russian than a democrat.   You have absolutely no care whatsoever for the environment.  However you do get mad when he hurts "the wrong people".  You would rather lose your family farm than vote for someone with a D next to their name.  You easily confuse contradiction for persecution.  You have to have the foresight of a mayfly.  You have to have hate in your heart and marbles in your head.

This is pretty spot on.  And when considered within the larger context of the fact that Trump has 99-100% approval and support of Republicans, or close to half the country, it really is quite the sad and depressing expose on where we are as a whole.    Think about it - almost half of the people you deal with on any given day, on average, are complete and utter POS’s who think that Trump is doing a “great job.”

That is exactly what he did. He asked Putin for help with the election. He promised normalization of relations, lifting of sanctions on the oligarchs, whatever. Obvious answer is obvious.

So Trump's henchmen have allegedly pressured the Ukraine into re-opening an investigation into the Democratic front runner for President, along with his son?  Would that be collusion with a foreign entity to influence a US election?  (Still asking for me.)

Nope, just good ol fashioned opposition research - AG Barr

Phil Mudd was on CNN last night about to blow a gasket over this.... because, how dare someone listen in on the President's phone calls! "He can say whatever he wants!". It was a bizarre reaction. He of course later admitted that he had no idea what was being whistleblown, if that's a word.

Every single thing you listed has been spun by Fox and other conservstives to muddy the water enough to keep these people believing in Trump.

The part where the big shot at DNI is covering everything up is a tell.
