Isaac's Storm, about the 1900 hurricane that demolished Galveston. A phenomenal book with tremendous research & haunting details, in the hands of a first-rate director it could be a powerful film.

My MIL was from Galveston, her family took the train out of their days before the storm hit.

Years ago, the Coen Brothers were attached to write and direct with Brad Pitt to star but it obviously never happened.

Probably well known among the literati here, but Dickey is the author of Deliverance and was the poet laureate of the United States.

He's a powerful writer.  And, in keeping with the stereotype, a major drunk that somehow lived to be 73.

Also I think I listed this on the same thread on TOS but The Historian would make for an interesting movie or limited series.

In 2005, prior to its publication, Sony bought the film rights to the novel for $1.5 million, but has yet to go into production

Would love to see The Master and Margarita get the proper Hollywood budget and effects it deserves. There are some good Russian versions.

Dreams of a Great Small Nation is the story of the Czechoslovak Legion that at one point seized control of the Trans-Siberian railway, the Imperial Gold Reserve, and kicked Bolshevik ass across the Russian East is epic and would be a spectacular period piece/blockbuster/Oscar bait. It’s too bad that it’s too late to cast a young Rachel Weisz as the love interest.
