Rick Perry Resigning

The energy side of the Ukrainian scandal really needs to be investigated more.

You have:

- Rick Perry, Secretary of Energy, due to his bona fides with O&G lobbyists

- Burisma, Ukrainian energy company that produces natural gas

-Naftogaz, Ukrainian gas company, that transmits natural gas - mostly Russian natural gas that they get a fee for - about $3B per year.

- Firtash, who made his billions on trading Russian natural gas at discounted rates from Putin.  He's the money behind Lev and Igor.

- Nord Stream II - a gas pipe line from Russia to Germany that will soon be completed.  It will allow Russia to bypass Ukraine in transmitting gas to Europe.

-Turk Stream - similar to Nordstream, but through Turkey/Black Sea and a ways off.

This is a swamp gas soap opera.

The US has an interest in stopping the Nordstream 2 because it's a good sanction against Russia, and because it opens up LNG markets to Ukraine and the rest of Europe.  Zelensky wants to stop the pipeline because it will take a large chunk of money out of Ukraine, and make Ukraine less important strategically to the rest of Europe.  Russia, Germany, and France want it.  Trump could have taken action to stop it - or at least slow it - through sanctions.  Maybe he wasn't due to his love of Putin or because he was holding it out as leverage on Ukraine.  (The last part seems less likely, as his hard-on for Ukraine is relatively recent, while the pipeline has been in the works for years.)  Congress attached anti-Nord stream sanctions to the NDAA bill, that was just advanced yesterday.

It's uncanny. It's brazen and systematic. Imagine all the shit this administration has engaged in that we don't know about yet.

someone out there has compiled a list of accusations, shouldn't be too hard to figure out which we already know about, which tells us the ones we don't.

Yeah, I'm kinda sorta terrified that we're going to find an accusation that the Dems are plotting to turn 90% of the planet's surface into a radioactive slag heap.

Considering that Mikey P was CIA Director from 2017 to 2018 and now SoS, let's take him for a little ride first. After that, maybe we'll know who to ask next.

Amos Hochstein, a member of the supervisory board at the state-owned Ukrainian energy firm Naftogaz, told lawmakers that Perry "inappropriately pressured the Ukrainian government" to place Texas oil executive Robert Bensh on the board of the company while officials at the Department of Energy pressured the government to sign a deal with a "private business entity connected to Mr. Bensh," according to a letter Wyden sent to Department of Energy Inspector General Teri Donaldson.

Perry also pressured the Ukrainian government to place one of his longtime campaign supporters, Michael Bleyzer, on the board during a trip to Ukraine for President Volodymyr Zelensky's inauguration in 2019, Wyden wrote. Bleyzer and his partner were later awarded a drilling contract in the country.

"Mr. Bleyzer's contract that he was awarded was despite the fact that he was not the highest bidder in the process," Hochstein told lawmakers. "Other . . . bids were higher, and therefore, Ukraine chose a bid that paid itself less."
