Kinda a big “whoops” if you’re gonna try out porn...

https://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2019/10/girlsdoporn-on-trial-for-fraud-still-isnt-leveling-with-new-models/

In August, we wrote about a group of 22 models who sued the owners of the porn site GirlsDoPorn for fraud. The models say the company told them that pornographic videos of them would only be distributed on DVDs outside the United States. Instead, the videos were published by GirlsDoPorn, a site with plenty of American viewers.

Bianca Bruno, a reporter for Court House News, has been producing invaluable day-by-day coverage of the ongoing trial in San Diego. On Wednesday, the court heard from Matthew Wolfe, a GirlsDoPorn associate who handles day-to-day operations on the site. Wolfe said that GirlsDoPorn is still trying to recruit new models—and it's still not giving new recruits the full story about how the videos will be used.

When asked whether the contracts signed by new models mention GirlsDoPorn, Wolfe responded, "No, I don't believe so." In fact, he admits that the contracts don't mention any websites at all. He said that if models asked where the videos would be published, he would say the videos would go online but wouldn't mention a specific site.

Wolfe said most prospective models "didn't ask" where their videos would appear. Wolfe confirmed that videos shot by the company were never published on DVD.

If site owners are now telling models that videos will go online, that's an improvement from the behavior alleged by plaintiffs. The models say they were told videos would never be posted on the Internet.

"If I had known that they were posting it on the Internet, that my name would be attached to it, that it would be in the United States, if I had known that it was more than 30 minutes of filming, if I had known any of that, just any one of those, I wouldn't have done it," one of the victims testified in court in August.

After her video appeared online, she texted a woman who had helped recruit her to shoot the video.

"Hey, you lied to me, and they lied to me," she wrote in a text message. "It's on a website now and my whole town back home knows. This ruined my life."

The principal owner of GirlsDoPorn, Michael Pratt, apparently left the United States last month.

"We have been informed that [Pratt] is no longer in the jurisdiction and is no longer available to testify, even though he is under court order" to appear in court, an attorney for the 22 plaintiffs said in mid-September.

On the one hand, you feel a little bit for em.  On the other, read the fucking contract.

Be interesting to see how this comes out.

I think that’s why most of these girls are going down this career path...

If you're fucking a stranger for money and being filmed by someone else using professional video equipment, you should assume it's hitting the internet one way or the other. I'm sure these guys are scumbags, but read the contract and assume that you're going to be doxxed.

Dumb question amnesty:  in America prostitution is illegal but filming porn is legal (in most states).  If You’re a John could you claim your doing production research?

you would have to fly to the locations where filming is permitted by city/county ordinance as well as be a certified member of the industry subject to weekly (I believe) STD checks. Different cities have different requirements (like making condoms mandatory)

men have been coning chicks to fuck for thousands of years and women all tend to fall for the same bullshit still.  The difference here is it is more strictly regulated in CA now so you can’t misrepresent what you plan to do with the videos without being held liable for civil damages.

if you are a girl in AZ, or Miami you are still fucked- so to speak.

That part sure sounds like she just wants to do prostitution.

Is there a subgenre of porn where hot, naive girls try and stammer their way through legally binding agreements whilst being DP'd  ??

Asking for a friend.

You were ok crossing a threshold involving fucking a stranger, on film, for money.  But when the people who you've been hiding that threshold (and I'm sure this one time was the only bad decisions these women ever made) from found it, then it wasn't ok.   Perfect logic.  Welcome to real life princess.

Welp.

GirlsDoPorn website goes offline after $13M judgment, criminal charges

A judge recently ordered the site's owners to pay $13 million to 22 women.

The last few months have been a disaster for the people behind the GirlsDoPorn website. Last summer saw the start of trial in a lawsuit 22 women filed against site owner Michael Pratt and two other men. That case resulted in a $13 million verdict against the men earlier this month.

In October, the federal government charged Pratt and others with criminal sex trafficking. Pratt also faces child-pornography charges after he flew a 16-year-old to Southern California. Pratt fled the country—possibly back to his native New Zealand. He is now wanted by the FBI.

Yet throughout all that turmoil, the GirlsDoPorn site stayed up, offering visitors access to explicit videos of women who may have been coerced into shooting them. Indeed, as late as October, in the midst of the civil trial, the site was still shooting and posting new videos.

But now porn-industry blogger Mike South notes that the GirlsDoPorn website has finally gone offline. It seems to have disappeared from the Web sometime last week.

This doesn't mean GirlsDoPorn content has disappeared from the Web, however. GirlsDoPorn video clips remain readily available from other pornographic video sites.

The operators of GirlsDoPorn are in legal trouble because dozens of women say they were tricked and coerced into appearing in videos on the site. The site attracted women by telling them that their videos would only be sold on DVD to wealthy customers overseas and would never appear online. That was a lie.

Once women arrived in San Diego for their photo shoots, they were plied with drugs and alcohol and pressured to sign documents without reading them. Women were initially offered as much as $5,000 to do the shoots, only to have those amounts arbitrarily reduced once they arrived to shoot a video.

Some women said the men physically blocked the exit to their hotel room during the shoots. Some accused one of the men of raping them before or after the on-camera shoot.

Two weeks ago, a California judge awarded the women a combined $13 million. The plaintiffs "have experienced severe harassment, emotional and psychological trauma, and reputational harm," the judge wrote.

These guys seem like class acts:

“22 Whores”

The FBI says that the men behind the disgraced GirlsDoPorn website were willing to go to extraordinary lengths to harass and intimidate 22 women who sued them for fraud and coercion. A judge awarded those women $13 million in January. Now one of the men, Matthew Wolfe, is in custody and facing criminal charges. Authorities believe another defendant, ringleader Michael Pratt, has fled the country.

Wolfe is asking to be let out on bail. On Thursday, Motherboard published an FBI document arguing against his motion. It details just how far the men were willing to go to retaliate against the women.

The FBI arrested Wolfe in October and searched the offices of GirlsDoPorn the next day. The April 22 document, which came to light this week, describes the result of that search.

"Agents located a chart listing countries that do not extradite individuals to the United States," US Attorney Robert Brewer wrote. "The chart indicated whether each country had on-line banking and whether citizens of New Zealand, like defendant, could obtain a visa."

Brewer says that the defendant's fiancée has a wealthy family and could access funds to assist in fleeing to New Zealand—and then to a third country with no US extradition treaty.

“22 Whores”

Brewer also says that FBI agents "found evidence of efforts to harass and intimidate the victims and their attorneys."

They found a video script called "22 Whores + 5 Shady Lawyers VS GirlsDoPorn." The subheading read "Share and spread this video as far and wide as possible."

The typo-laden script listed the names of the 22 women who sued the porn site. "Put each girls [sic] full name and location on screen before rolling there [sic] shit," the script said—presumably "their shit" here is footage from their pornographic videos.

The video was supposed to end with the text "These retarded lawyers and disquisting [sic] whores wasted 3 years of everyones [sic] time. Ask yourself how viral these videos will go now if nobody is controlling them... Good job."

One of the allegations of women against GirlsDoPorn is that the site's proprietors deliberately leaked their real names in order to drum up interest in their videos. But publishing a video like this would have been a more brazen act of doxing.

Brewer says he also found "a phone list with victims' names and Jane Doe numbers" (plaintiffs were referred to as "Jane Doe 1," "Jane Doe 2," etc. during the trial) that "memorialized attempts to get information from them over the telephone by posing as a journalist."

On the back of the list was handwritten: "Hi, my name is [******], I'm a journalist from LA, I'm calling in regards to the girlsdoporn case. I've heard from your [sic] related to the case and curious to get a comment if you have the spare time."

Wolfe had argued that he should be released because he suffers from sleep apnea and doesn't want to catch the coronavirus while in jail. But Brewer countered that sleep apnea is not a known risk factor for COVID-19. He argued that Wolfe should stay in jail despite the infection risk.

Seen it.  And just like the aggy football team, she willingly took it up the ass.
