It's looking like the people that are saying no one wants to coach with an arrogant coach on the hot seat are right.

I don't think he can't get any better coaches.

He may be afraid to hire coaches that are better than him,  but at this point it doesn't even look like an option.

Both Yurcich and Ash could have landed good p5 coordinator jobs elsewhere.

That was a good performance and a positive data point, but that should be weighed against the poor performances we saw in several games last season, from an inconsistent team that lost a few important contributors.

Just the year before, we were thrilled with how the season ended against Georgia, and then 2019 happened.

If only we had 3+ weeks to prepare for every game on our schedule, we'd be a force to be reckoned with.

A whole lot of Bitchassedness on this thread.

Honestly like the hires haven't been the most inspiring in the world, but people are acting like we just turned into Tech. We're probably gonna win 10 games just because of a senior-laden roster, our worst coaching cancers being shitcanned, and better injury luck.

The hires are mixed but the conference on the whole should be down next year. OU unless they get a transfer will have the first green QB in a while. I think that our defense will make a massive jump and our offense will be much less predictable. We will make the Conference championship and probably will win.

(Billy Embody) Sources: Kevin Kane turns down assistant job at Texas

Quote

SMU defensive coordinator Kevin Kane has been offered the linebackers coach position at Texas and will formally turn down the opportunity in the near future, multiple sources told Pony Stampede. On Monday, Horns247 reported Kane was a candidate for the position under new defensive coordinator Chris Ash. The 36-year old former Kansas linebacker assembled an SMU defense that set numerous team records including sacks and tackles for loss with 51 and 111, respectively. Defensive end Delontae Scott now sits at No. 2 in tackles for loss in a single season while linebacker Patrick Nelson set a new single season record for sacks with 12.

In his first season on the Hilltop, Kane’s defense ranked in the top 25 nationally in tackles for loss (17th) and fumble recoveries (22nd). Individually, linebacker Richard Moore registered 92 tackles and had a team-leading 5.0 sacks to earn American Athletic Conference honorable mention accolades. He also added 13.5 TFLs, five quarterback hurries and a forced fumble. Jake Hall ranked sixth nationally with three fumble recoveries on the season.

Kane joined the SMU staff after spending the 2016 and 2017 seasons as the Defensive Coordinator at Northern Illinois. It was his second stint at NIU, having served in multiple capacities on the staff from 2011-14. During the 2015 season, Kane coached linebackers at Kansas.

Hutzler would not suck, particularly for special teams. From gamecocksonline.com:

Quote

Under Hutzler’s tutelage, the South Carolina kickoff return team led the SEC and ranked eighth in the nation, averaging 25.8 yards per return in 2016. A trio of players, Deebo Samuel, A.J. Turner and Rashad Fenton, all returned a kick at least 50 yards, with Samuel taking one to the house from 100 yards away. Placekicker Elliott Fry became the school’s all-time leading scorer, while snapper Drew Williams was recognized as a fourth-team All-American.

He was pretty good for special teams at Boston College prior to joining Muschamp.
