The Pig Pen is great with kids; has a good playground.  You can either order food from the bbq trailer on site (limited menu) or order to-go from the Smoke Shack and eat it at the Pig Pen (they are next door to each and owned by the same couple).

The Cove has a good playground and pretty good food.

Tycoon Flats is another option, though I might choose something else if you are eating Chris Madrid's on the same trip.  The playground is geared for younger children there.

As mentioned above, Los Barrios is great if you are in that area.

The cold front doesn't allow for this, but Pearl Brewery is a fun place for kids with a splash pad and food court (Bottling Department) with options for everyone. You can also walk down to the prettiest part of the river and watch the ducks. They also have a mini version of the Congress Ave bat flight further down.

Another cool place with a playground is the Friendly Spot in Southtown.
