There is a Facebook group run by chompers and her mom that’s essentially trying to discredit everything in the doc. I kinda feel bad for them. In their mind, they’re watching this monster walk free with no recourse. And with chompers own sexual assault memories, I’m sure that isn’t easy to take.

https://www.facebook.com/GregKelleyCriminalCaseDiscussion/

So the whole point of that page is to discredit the biased documentary, and the pinned post at the top is an angry, unhinged blog post written by someone who goes by "fakefightforGK."

That page is a shitshow. At least two people accused Greg Kelley of "abhorrent" gay sex hookups, but did not say where the hell they got that info from, and ignored questions asking where they got it from.

Lol exactly why I posted it. I went down a little bit of a rabbit hole this morning. A lot of angry people on that page.

Mannix and dep fife/dailey conducted a cringe worthy less than half assed investigation thst cost a kid his life- every functional adult

It was a proper and thorough investigation!- mannix/fife

Cummings put on a shitty defense everyone can see- every functional adult

Cummings put on a sound conflict free defense and it was not ineffective counsel!!- gourmand

You know I thought gourmand may be mr cummings but at this point maybe its Patricia herself

Having done a (somewhat) deep dive into this case through the court ruling, the amicus brief Cummings' attorneys submitted, the news articles from the trial, and Outcry itself, I feel pretty confident in saying I have a stronger grasp of the background of the case than you. You can believe I'm wrong, but your opinion is not the more informed one.

I read a detail that was not mentioned in Outcry that shows why Cummings dismissed the alternate suspect theory:

Greg is 6'2". Jonathan is 5'4".

Lol I see you took that straight from the page I posted earlier in this thread. This is the photo they continue to reference to discredit any idea that it could be McCarty. I don’t think McCarty is actually that short. I think this is just a weird photo

Going to throw this out there since there is a question regarding the date of the alleged assault:

  • Greg moves out (April)
  • new kid joins the daycare for the summer (original date of assault is July)
  • Jonathan tells new kid "call me Greg" (Jonathan knowing he looks similar to the real Greg)
  • commits offense, kid says "Greg did it"
  • DA, CPD, Cummins, et al too fucking lazy or stupid to investigate

Just a thought.

this is where i was at the whole show...its really not that complicated.

except Greg moved out in June,  the original file date of the assault was July, but ADA Puryevor recognizing that Greg wasnt living in the house then,  changes the date and picks April 15th as the date of the assault out of the fucking blue, and no one questions that new date, its almost as if Cummings didnt recognize the importance of the original claimed date of the assault vis a vis Greg's living there.

The kid that said the name Mr  Jonathan only said that name AFTER  Cedar Park Sgt Schulz ASKED THE KID if it was Mr Greg or Mr Jonathan that whipped it out and told the kid to put lotion on it.

As the show presented, the only time  the name Jon is mentioned with the courts is because the cop brought the name up, and  whats frustating is on the stand, sgt schultz couldnt explain how he came up with the name Mr Jonathan to ask the kid.

sounds like Jonathan told the boys it rubs the lotion on the skin AND it gets the hose

Just finished the series. One thing that was clear to me right away was Johnathan was jealous of Greg- big, strong, fast star player with the pretty girlfriend. Johnathan tries to be Greg- is on the team but has no prayer of playing (coach called him a program guy, code for benchwarmer), clearly obsessed with Greg's girlfriend....but it ain't happening. Same haircut as Greg, makes the same face in pictures...none of these things  are a coincidence.  But he is clearly the Vincent to Greg's Julius. To make matters worse, Johnathan's mom is also obsessed with Greg. And, she wants to be known as the mom that took in the star player, and to "get her blessings" . Soon enough. Johnathan gets jealous of his mom doting on Greg...Greg this, Greg that...Greg, Greg, Greg. "Well I'll show Greg"

Incompetence,  laziness, good ole boy network, and corruption then converge to land Greg in a world of shit.

I know the doc people show what they want you to see but its hard to say who is the biggest piece of shit in this deal: detective, original DA, original defense lawyer (either incompetent or compromised), chief of police,, or Ranger (textbook aggy).

New DA seems like a stand-up guy .

No one is a bigger scum in this than Mitchell....falsified the dating site handles, hugged Kelley's mom, showed up in the parking lot upon his release, etc.

And Brydon is a creepy dude.  Still don't know his story.

David Anderson was Jake Brydon’s coach at one point in high school and they’ve kept in contact since, at least a little bit. Plus, everyone in the Leander/cedar park area with kids of a certain age range knows exactly who the Anderson’s are. Definitely a creepy approach, but it wasn’t random.

And making up the adult friend finder handles is fucking wild. I would say there has to be something illegal about just flatly making something up to help strengthen your case, but we know it happens all the fucking time with these scumbags

What’s crazy about the porn (never alleged to be kiddie) and the AFF logins is to me they weaken the case.
Hugh school boy looking to hook up with consenting adult for sex or watching porn (of 18+) seems a bit of a stretch to “hey 4 yo old boy, perform sex act on me”

Mitchell seems fucked up but to call him the biggest scum in this fucked up case is crazy.
Lots of incompetent fucks in line in front of him, dailey, mannix, duty and staff, cummings, etc.. mitchell story is odd. Id bet he started out thinking GK might be innocent and testified to such although still saying GK remained a suspect. Then higher ups in the Rangers/DPS caught wind of him helping a convicted ped get released and they shut him down and had him look further into GK.
This byndom guy just endorsed Robert Chody for relection. Same chody that has been covering up the javier ambler, WILCO in custody death since last year. Supposedly Chody was great to GK allowing special access to GKs lawyers with preferential treatment. At least what Ive heard. Chody is fighting for his reelection.

Cummings is featured prominently on Innocence Files on Netflix. It totally escaped me that she was the same lady that “defended” Kelley.

Also, Texas needs about 150+ Sean Dick clones in office as DA all over the state.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend watching “Southwest of Salem”. It’s about another big case that Hampton worked on.

I never thought I’d say this, but the Williamson County District Attorney comes off as one of the most noble reasonable persons in this whole documentary.  I’m a fan of Dick.  #nohomo

I hope that Dick is able to maintain his integrity in the face of the institutionalized fuckery of Williamson County law enforcement and politics.  We thought Jana Duty might be alright after ousting that piece of shit John Bradley, but she turned out to be another piece of shit.

see, thats where you are wrong. you (and I, and the majority of this site) see adult porn sites as a place where reasonably normal adults get their fetish fix on (and yes, for some people basic missionary is a fetish).

Thats not how a huge portion of the citizens of this state view the scurge of porn.  Its become something that all Judeo-Christian denominations have villanized every few months by their pastors, priests, rabi's, etc....

so in the especially conservative county of Wilco, the well known websites that are out there (Ashley Madison, AFF, Youporn, etc) are either completely unknown or considered the Debils Work.  Conservative husbands who occasionally need an alone time session who go to those sites and get caught by their conservative wives are forced to talk to their pastors about it for weeks and the wives hang that shit over their heads for years.  So porn is a big secret that no one in that conservative mindset thinks a NORMAL person would need.

Thus, to them, the leap of ... oh, he was on a porn hook up site???????    He must also be a Pedo  is  NOT a large stretch in their minds. Hell its probably not even a tiny stretch, its probably assumed.

Those are the same people who for the last 200 years have honestly believed that gay men, must be pedo's as well.

Its a stupid mindset, because there is no known scientific correlation between being gay and pedo.

But its a mindset that a lot of folks who view pleasure sex (vs sex purposely to have a kid) to be shameful, even if they do crazy sex shit in the bedroom that they keep secret....

So that was a long answer to basically say that while I agree anyone going to AFF isnt a pedo correllation, its something that "the public" view oppositely

if you need proof, just rewatch the local Austin broadcasts that came out the day the Ranger's wacked-out report came out.  KXAN fucking led with the story that Greg was on adult hook up sites in such a way that you can tell when Robert Hadlock is reading the story hes telling the viewer this is a HORRIBLE thing.

YES. It might follow her around, but it wouldn't end her career and it certainly isn't putting her into prison for 25 years as a pedo. How does she honestly assess her performance and think she did all she could? She flatly refused to consider the dipshit that looked just like GK that was actually living in the house at the time of the offense; didn't look into GK's cell phone records; didn't try to do anything with the Sponge Bob pants; didn't convince GK to retain his right to appeal; did she even get character witnesses to try to cancel out the irrelevant gym owner calling GK a liar? You know what will totally follow her around? This documentary.

Now that I'm into episode 2, I want to congratulate the little cunt "victims advocate" for pulling into the lead of people in this thing who need to see the inside of a meat grinder.

Stunning to listen to her describe GK's supporters as a "cult" with her eyes bugging out while peddling her theories about "victims" telling the truth 99.999% of the time.

Um, no.   People lie and/or get things just plain wrong all the time.  And a 4 year old?  With a 6 foot 4 meathead detective badgering him into giving answers?    Come the fuck on you fucking shitstains.  And while you're lobbing "cult" accusations around, try looking in a mirror.  The lack of self-awareness is mind boggling.

Strategy and tactics aside, wouldn’t the ineffective counsel allegations be buoyed by Hampton’s disassembly of Dailey’s own lack of effort in the investigation? Not showing up to the daycare, sitting in on the cac interview(the one that later recanted) the lack of any photo identification at all of Greg kelley himself at any point, seems he was only identified by name, the child interview expert who pretty much broke down how bad the cac interview itself was and about how easy kids can be led into a false story, why wasn’t any of these points brought in the initial trial? And if they were how in the hell do you convict beyond a reasonable doubt.

This line of thinking is completely ridiculous considering how Cummings changed her entire approach the day of the hearing.  It is inexcusable.  She leads them on for hours and hours and hours of work and prep time and strategy etc preparing for the hearing.  She is a huge part of their case.  She knows this and is helping all the way up to the end. Then at the last minute decides her professional reputation is more important than her client getting out of prison for a crime he did not commit.

And yes to me I totally agree she had to defend herself, but it seemed obvious she was doing it in a way which basically dared hampton to go after her, and risk her disclosing potentially damaging info about GK and potentially destroying his case, was she willing to save herself and reputation by destroying GK’s if so did she really support, believe or care about his innocence?

I don't remember the exact wording,  but didn't she say she went to Hampton right after the conviction and said ' please help him , I screwed this all up" ...or at least it came across that way.

That was my understanding as well, so which is it? Please help him because I know he is innocent? Or justice was served because of all the things I know that are damaging?

To me the ineffective counsel claim is relevant because regardless of tactic chosen she failed to exploit numerous glaring holes in the investigation namely the investigation as a whole and the complete lack of an actual photo or lineup id of the suspect, how did it fly at all that he was only ever identified by name? I’m not a lawyer, my father was and I believe Jerry knew him. I grew up around this and it seemed pretty apparent the opportunity to cast doubt was there and missed every step of the way

This is my take as well. It wasn’t about which strategy she chose as much as her inability to cast doubt on an investigation done so poorly. As soon as it was examined more closely, the whole thing fell apart. A lot of the most damning information about the investigation was available during the original trial.

It should be irrelevant because he was her client and the investigation was done so poorly, but she acts like she thinks he did it and knows something we don’t.

There's a lot of this case that I can't wrap my head around.

But I can rationalize (don't agree with it) everyone's actions in this case... but his.

I mean, the detectives were lazy and had extreme confirmation bias.

The DA's were looking to bolster their careers / records.... and had extreme confirmation bias.

The former defense attorney thought she was going to slam dunk win this and didn't do her due diligence. She was lazy and had a conflict on interest. Then she had a livelihood that she needed to protect it.

The Texas ranger 180... I just don't get that. Really don't.

100% this.  Okay, Cummings, you don't want to point the finger at Jonathan McCarty, for whatever reason.  Why didn't you slice apart the lazy, bush league investigation that departed from well-accepted protocols?  Then throw in the fact that Greg had moved out a month before the reported offenses, and you've increased the odds of your client's acquittal far beyond those of your shitty trial strategy.

Also and maybe I missed This but Hampton seemed to be able to pinpoint Greg’s location via cellphone on the date in question and seemingly for months before, was this technology not available then? Or would it be a stretch due to the prosecution’s ability to move the timeline? Seems this info could of been used by either side, I can understand why dick was mad at the withdrawal of the ineffective counsel claim, it severely limited his line of question for Ms. Cummings and while I believe I would of really loved to watch that unfold it seems Hampton did the right thing to protect his client and prevent any potential damaging information coming out.

I think that evidence would also have been met with a moving timeline from the prosecution.  Which is why the date Greg moved out of the house is more gravy on top of the shitty investigation.  The prosecutors can try to move the date of the offense back to account for the suspect's occupancy of the home, but how could they have responded to and justified all of the other investigative shortcomings?  Cummings had so many tools at her disposal to make the police and the prosecutors look like Keystone Cops.

It’s hard to see all this as a layman and not believe there was something else at work,

I think @GhostOfTomJoad nailed it way upthread. Chompers was a victim of sexual abuse and probably wasn't believed by loved ones or people important to her and saw her victimizer in Kelley and his supporters as those who didn't believe her. That rationale is the only one that makes sense to me of her stubborn, steadfast belief that Kelley is guilty.

I think you’re the victim of Cumming in Patricia. Amirite?

I had an ex who was a victim of sexual abuse and it really fucked her up. She was 14 or 15 and living with her family stationed at Gitmo and was groomed and abused by an adult soldier there. I think he was 25 at the time. Nothing ever happened to him but she was seriously messed up by it.

We dated a loong time ago when I was in my early 20's. I was too young, dumb, and horny at the time to really appreciate the depth of her emotional pain or how to navigate it. She was hot, we were close, but I was selfishly motivated exclusively by sex and I remember how impatient and frustrated I was by her those times when I felt like she was "holding out" on me.  I still think about her and feel genuinely shameful for how I disregarded what she went through because I wanted to bang. I was like " jeez can't you get over it already???"

Tldr; You don't just tell victims to move past it, that's not how it works.

It depends on the level of your fuckup. Here he didn’t fuck up but presided over his department fucking up and was vocal about it. People need to shut the fuck up, and that way, when the people they initially support are wrong, they’re not dug in. People need to say “no comment”. I didn’t like her and I think Gourmand is very close with her, but Cummings was smart not to comment. Mitchell was smart. I am sure they have their reasons for their actions. Mannix has no reason that makes sense and yet is still defiant and an ass on camera, and it cost him a job.

It was that smug ass, "I know shit and you don't" cop attitude that probably carried him to that point in time when those interviews were made.  He figured he could just ego and bully his way through this deal just like he had done a thousand other times.

So many LEOs have this coursing through their veins.

Well, didn't quite turn out the same way this time.  Thank goodness he's getting his turn in the barrell now.  Assholes like him, his detective, and Geoffrey Puryear are the absolute dregs of the Earth.  At least Jana Duty, after a career of doing the wrong thing, finally turned it around and did the right thing by eating a bullet.

The rest doing the same would be more than they deserve.

whats more amazing is the completely fucked up investigation by Dailey has been known since literally the day he took the stand in the writ trial in '17.

His response to what a cops job is and saying (paraphrase) "to help get a conviction" was just stunning for anyone to hear.  the fact he said that under oath in a courtroom and truely didnt understand the implications of what he had just said,  makes that even more unbelievable.

He wasnt even taken off whatever task force he was leading as a Sgt until sometime after Greg was declared innocent.

you are a senior officer in the police force, and one of your minions just basically admitted to being a lazy fuck during a crucial investigation that was high profile, then admitted under oath that he was more concerned about getting a conviction than helping find the truth  and NO ONE  does anything to him for almost 3 years?

Not sure if you can have a union rep if you are a leader in the police force.  I know that most union gig protections end when you become management

meaning if thats true, that clown could have been fired --- i mean he still would have been eligible to go to Burnet county and be a cop there, but at least he wouldnt be in a position of leadership in CP.
