Bloomberg will end up as a third party candidate - with Romney - if he does not steal the Democratic ticket.

I wonder when all the women that he harassed but paid them off and they signed NDAs will make their entrance? Before or during the Dem convention?

wonder what the #metoos will say.

That would be an interesting race.  Neither of the three would get to 270.

President Pelosi !!!

but seriously, trump has the Supreme Court in his pocket and would get republican states to run further interference for him. Paxton is foaming at the mouth at thought Of helping IMpotus screw over Bloomberg’s 3rd party run

Saw a Bloomberg yard sign in Hyde Park today.  I can't even.

I've been working on/near campus a lot the last couple of weeks and I'm seeing more and more Bloomberg stickers and signage.  Not much, but enough so that you notice the uptick from one week to the next.  And it's the last place you expect to see it, I guess.  I went by his "upstart" South Congress field office the other day and it is an elegant balance of, 'hey, we're down here in South Austin spreading the progressive message and being a realistic chance to beat Trump, nevermind the overpriced digs.' with 'Look, we all know this thing is mine if I want it so shut up and get on board.  This is not the time to play reinvent the Democratic Party into a Socialist wing.  We'll do that when we have the luxuries of Incumbency.  For now, we take 270 EC votes and hold our House majority.  What the fuck is wrong with you hippies?"

Then again, there was free craft beer so I was likely overserved and reading into shit...

Yeah, great call.  Michael Bloomberg, the darling of the Blue New York, using his massive wealth to buy up and silence the favorite mouthpiece of the Trump Administration...FoxNews.  And then radically change the production and programming and tilt.  That would "help the country."  Are you out of your fucking mind?  All that would is exacerbate the coming Trumpkin upheaval.  You think Mike Bloomberg taking away their favorite toy right in front of them during an election cycle and changing the stripes and sound effects would placate them?  And that would help the country?  I'm guessing you've been a political consultant for such famed leaders as Chairman Mao?

If Bloomberg really wanted to use his money to help the country he would buy Fox News and change the programming.

He’s not showing up if it’s Bloomberg

Yeah, who can blame him.  Trump is a bully, and a pretty bad one at that.  He's all in favor of abusing women and children and stiffing contractors who did work for him.  But he knows Bloomberg will humiliate him.

Bloomberg has billions of dollars. To media and other actors in national policy debates, Bloomberg's wealth matters much more than whether or not what he is saying makes sense. That is good news for Bloomberg, but bad news for the rest of us.

Evidence: See Trump's rise in 2016 because of . . . the media.

Two wealthy oligarchs. New York. Horrible with women. Horrible to POC and the Poor. Getting richer because of the medium they own or use as puppets.

Oh and Bloomberg did away with the term limit for his Rule.

And some people "like" him.

His big gulp proposal was spot on. people are killing themselves with excess sugar and taking all of our tax or insurance premiums dollars to treat them.  There’s no reason to say sodas shouldnt be vice taxed like tobacco.  I’m cool if people want to drink coke all day via an IV but don’t put the resulting health problems on my tab.

Similar to the plastic bag tax. Simple yet hugely effective policy that benefits everyone but the Rs go nuts yelling don’t take my liberties!!!!!

There’s a difference between vice tax and “not available for sale.” My recollection is NYC went with the latter and didn’t have an exception for non-sugar drinks.

It’s not like he outlawed sugary drinks. He just took the five gallon buckets away from the fats because they have no self control. Get a smaller cup and refill you fatty fat fucks.

Exactly. And he also didn’t full outlaw all large drink sizes because he couldn’t as mayor. Convenient stores fell under state jurisdiction so I believe the Big Gulp was still an option.

his soda ban was a great public health idea but unfortunately there is always some one that will fight against it.

I hope Bloomberg throws that ad up across the Bible Belt to continue to throw trumps behavior in the face of religious types that think trump is the greatest. They need to be shamed and reminded if their behavior in supporting him.

and while it’s dirty politics, I would remind voters of his personal behavior in cheating on every wife and screwing practically every business partner and bank.

So, he had some rally in Okie City over the weekend with Judge Judy.  Something like 1,500 people showed up.  That's more than have been showing up for some of the debates.

I will say the number of commercials are comical at this point.  Anything I watched all weekend, regardless of genre was blanketed with Bloomberg ads.

What I like about Bloomberg's potential nomination is that Democrats usually wait until after they've been in office for a minute before they bend over backwards and start compromising away all of their ideals to a GOP party that has no interest in negotiating in good faith.

It's more efficient and will save time and energy to just straight up nominate a Republican.

Apart from big pharma patent/Rx costs, this news aggregate doesn't touch on his health care outlook, but everything else looks headed in the right direction.  On some things, he has simply put his own money where his mouth is.

I’ve only read the tax plan, but it’s reasonable (way more realistic than Bernie’s and Warren’s) and something that can be sold to a pretty broad audience.

Same here.  Like it a lot and how it's aimed at income inequality.  He made the case is the NYT that he uniquely can make the argument to raise taxes on the top 1%.  He may be right about that.

I also really like his ideas for economic development in middle America.

At this point, it is necessary politics.  And it is factual.

He’s also saying if your income is over $1M, then your capital gains is taxed as income.  That’s a big change.

Cool. How about we just institute a wealth tax on wealth over $250 million - nothing huge, progressive in nature so the Trump-type pay some and the Bloomberg, Bezos and Zucks pay more?

Bloomberg's plan to tax Income v. Wealth is the main reason for his candidacy.

Fuck that guy.

When the stupid are too stupid to know what's good for them, the intelligent must make decisions for them.

Seriously, I want to believe in Libertarianism and the idea that most people, given the right information, will make decisions that are in their best interest.  Then I see  some dumbass riding a motorcycle without a helmet, some dumbass smoking, some dumbass that weighs 350 .lbs buying a Big Gulp, and realize that my idealistic fantasy is just that: an idealistic fantasy.

Nanny state?  Fuck you. If you're so stupid that you drink Big Gulps when you weigh 350 .lbs, you're too stupid to be trusted to vote in my democracy.

No directing this at you, personally, LoneStarBiker.

I'm warming up to Mike.  Seems like his key messages are that he is a centrist Democrat and Donald Trump is Satan.

Two straight elections where a long, drawn-out primary process causes all of the serious candidates to cannibalize each other while a rich New Yorker swoops in and takes the nomination.

Might be time to revisit how we pick candidates in this country.

agree that a new process is needed. And the 2 parties have as much flexibility as they want, as there is no law that forces the primaries on them.

Straight to the point: beat Trump and everything else will fall into place.

Friend and I were talking about this at the bar Saturday night. Bloomberg’s ads are really well done, from the editing to the message to the fucking color scheme (Kamala I’m looking at you).

new poll shows Bloomberg at 22% with Black voters. Biden is at 27%.  Mayo Pete - 4%
