Bucket of Hot Diarrhea Poured on Calif. Woman in Random Attack

A night near the Hollywood Walk of Fame would change a woman's life, as she was getting into her car and a homeless man sprinted across Hollywood Boulevard toward her.

Heidi Van Tassel was parked in Hollywood after having a pleasant evening out with friends at an authentic Thai restaurant. Suddenly a man randomly pulled her out of the car, dragged her out to the middle of the street, and dumped a bucket of feces on her head, Van Tassel said and public records confirm.

"It was all inside my car because it was so much. He just kept pouring it and splattering it all over me," she said.
She said the Los Angeles Police Department told her they'd investigate the crime, but her phone calls to the department went unanswered.
Van Tassel said the police also promised to have their victims' advocate reach out to her to offer services. She said she never got a call.
"It's so traumatic. The PTSD that I'm dealing with is beyond anything that I've ever felt," Van Tassel said. "There needs to be some kind of help for the victims of these crimes."
The man who attacked her, identified in court records as Jere Blessings, was charged with battery and taken to jail. Blessings was described as a transient with "schizophrenia and psychotic disorders," records show.
"He doesn't need jail time. He needs mental health care," Van Tassel said. "I have empathy for him. Because he needs help."
Jere Blessings got help, but only for two months. He was sent by a judge to a residential facility for people with mental health issues, and released in August.
Security footage from businesses nearby captured the attack, and bodycam captured the aftermath as officers responded, but the LAPD and businesses would not release the footage, even when Van Tassel asked to see it.
"It was awful," Van Tassel said through tears. "And it changed my life."
The Los Angeles City Attorney's office said Blessings is now back in the community, which worries Van Tassel.
"I will never, ever, forget his face," Van Tassel said. "What’s the next thing he’s going to do somebody? If he would’ve had a knife, for sure he would’ve stabbed me."

New Orleans, LA (WGNO) -- A New Orleans man has been arrested for pretending to be handicapped in order to have home health care workers change his adult diaper.

Rutledge "Rory" Deas, 29, created multiple social media posts for home health care workers.

Deas would specify in the ads that the services would be for his 18-year-old mentally and physically handicapped brother, "Cory."

Deas would then pose as "Cory" and pretend to be handicapped while the nurses changed his adult diaper, a process Deas used to "obtain sexual arousal," according to the Louisiana State Police.

Home healthcare workers became suspicious of the scheme on at least 10 separate occasions.

Deas was arrested at his home without incident and charged with 10 counts of sexual battery and human trafficking (labor), and one count of possession of a schedule II controlled dangerous substance.

Two Arkansas chemistry professors arrested for allegedly making meth

HSUProfessorsMethArrest.jpeg

Two Arkansas chemistry professors have been arrested and accused of making methamphetamine, according to the Clark County Sheriff's Department. And no, neither of them is named Walter White.

Terry David Bateman, 45, and Bradley Allen Rowland, 40, both associate professors of chemistry at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, were taken into custody Friday afternoon, the sheriff's department said in a news release. They face charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and using drug paraphernalia.
A university science center was closed October 8 after someone reported a chemical odor, Tina Hall, the university's associate vice president of marketing and communications, said in a statement.
The building was reopened October 29 after the on-call environmental service completed remediation work that included air filtering systems and temporarily removed some windows to help ventilation, Hall said.
Hall would not elaborate on what was found following the report of a chemical odor, nor would she confirm whether the professors were suspected of making meth inside the school.
Bateman, 45, and Rowland, 40, are both on administrative leave that started October 11, Hall said.
CNN was unable to reach Bateman and Rowland for comment Saturday.
Both are expected to appear in Clark County District Court once a formal charging decision is made by the prosecutor, the sheriff's department said. The investigation is ongoing.
Walter White was the lead character in AMC's "Breaking Bad," which aired from 2008 to 2013. The show told the story of White, a high school chemistry professor portrayed by Bryan Cranston, who turned to manufacturing crystal meth to secure his family's financial future after he was diagnosed with lung cancer.

The lift part works great. The chair part, not so much.

A skier in Colorado died after his coat became wrapped around his head and neck on the chair lift, according to the company that operates the chair lift.

The 46-year-old man from New Jersey died in a "serious incident" on February 13, Vail Mountain said in the statement.
It began when the man boarded the Skyline Express lift on chair 37 in the Blue Sky Basin, the statement said. He then fell through an opening in the seat and was caught with his coat wrapped around his head and neck, according to CNN affiliate KMGH.
Reports indicate his chair was left in the upright position, which caused him to fall through when he sat, the station said.
His death was caused by positional asphyxia and has been ruled an accident, Coroner Kara Bettis told The Vail Daily.
Vail Mountain Ski Patrol responded to the incident and performed CPR and emergency care on-scene before the guest was transported to Vail Health, where he was pronounced dead, Vail Mountain's statement said.

An Orange County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday, Aug. 12 on suspicion of sexually assaulting two female inmates at an Orange County jail.

Deputy Arcadio Rodriguez, 30, is accused of having inappropriate relationships with both inmates at the Theo Lacy Facility beginning in May.

He sexually assaulted the women on multiple occasions separately by touching them over their clothes and showing them pornography, a news release said.

Rodriguez was placed on administrative leave on Aug. 9, one day after the department became aware of communication intercepted by jail staff describing the misconduct, the release said. The type of communication was not described.

He was booked into Santa Ana Jail Friday on felony sexual activity between a peace officer and inmate in a jail facility, and misdemeanor charges of assault under the color of authority and possession of a cell phone in a custody facility.

Rodriguez has been with the sheriff’s department since September 2021. The department is firing him, the release said.

Authorities declined to say where he was arrested.

The case will be forwarded to the Orange County District Attorney’s Office for prosecution. The Office of Independent Review also will investigate.
