The only ones with a "ggod" playoff history are the few teams who won so far...

1 team from ACC have won CFP - Clemson (2x)/

1 team from B1G has won CFP - Ohio State/

1 team from SEC has won CFP  - Alabama (2x)

Oklahoma has been invited 3 times (just as many as entire B1G/ more than PAC [2x]), but Oregon is biggest issue for Oklahoma now...

Ok I'll bite. For a moment let's pretend OU wins out, wins the CC, and gets into the final 4. What chances do you think they'll have of winning their 1st game? Why would this year be any different than the others? Even when they were favored to win it all they lost the 1st game. There's reasons people called them Chokelahoma. Until they have a defense to go along with their offense I don't know why anyone should take them seriously. In the meantime I think Oregon or Utah should have a shot. Bama lost to LSU so they don't have any business being in it either.

You're mixing up coping mechanisms with excessive self-confidence.

Most of our self-confidence is justified. We don't have a long history of Joe Mixon's Kendall Sanders/Montrel Meander or Dusty Dvorachek's Cayleb Jones/Demarco Boyd/Sergio Kindle or RC Slocums Fred Akers or Art Briles (This POS stands alone), we win a lot, and we're an excellent school.
Our unwarranted sense of entitlement is not justified at all.

"There were a lot of competitions and a lot of bidding wars. In that time period, Texas competed for talent as well as anybody."

"But could it be that Texas was playing it a little fast and free with the rules? The NCAA reports indicate so. Texas was found guilty of infractions in 1985. The report follows the typical format from the NCAA Compliance Commitee - excessive benefits from boosters (trips, meals, ticket scalping) during recruiting,"

Texas probably had less cheating than most large programs historically, partially due to the built in advantage of being Texas.  However, to say that Texas has always been made up of all choir boys, and that Texas never did anything to break NCAA rules (intentionally or otherwise) is either not accurate or disingenuous.

If you want to claim that Texas is better than program X, that's fine, but no one deserves to wear a halo.

Fine.  Texas is better than program X.

Where X represents all other programs in the history of mankind that currently, or have ever, played collegiate football, at any level.

That fix it for you? :)

This is where the rebuttals fall short. While we can agree that Texas doesn't deserve a halo and no doubt has (past and present) people willing to do shady things to help the program or get access, you should have stopped there.
Texas simply doesn't have the long and public history of recruiting/keeping/protecting dirtbag coaches and players that other programs do. Even the examples you provided are laughable.

You compared Joe Mixon to Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander.
- Joe Mixon: punched a woman and broke her jaw after she pushed him, claimed she called him the n-word, got red-shirted by OU. Video was seen by OU but not released for a year. Bob Stoops later said that had it happened in a 'different time' the punishment would have been more severe.
- Kendall Sanders and Montrel Meander: suspended from Texas after being CHARGED with sexual assault, later Sanders was exonerated and charges dropped against Meander. Both played elsewhere afterwards.

You compared Dusty Dvorachek to Cayleb Jones, Demarco Boyd, and Sergio Kindle.
- Dusty Dvorachek had a long history of violence even before playing at OU and was involved in no less than 3 assaults (one sexual), but the victims always declined to press charges. He finally went too far and put his roommate in the hospital his senior season, and the Sooners dismissed him. Who could've seen that coming, eh?
- Cayleb Jones was kicked out of Texas for assaulting a male tennis player.
- Boyd was kicked out of Texas for assaulting a driver that caused an accident.
- Kindle got in a wreck and fled (likely drunk), which is a misdemeanor, and was also suspended for a DWI. Texas likely covered for him since no one was hurt, so I'll give you this one, but I'll raise you a Baker Mayfield resisting arrest.

And then we can discuss things like Justin Chaisson, the Switzer era, Baylor as a whole, Sherrill's aTm legacy, SMU, Rodney Anderson, Rhett Bomar. The list goes on and on.

Ridiculous?  Hmmmmmmm..........   So you do not believe alcoholism is a disease?    And the fact that Dusty has been sober for 10 years, and is one of the best young football color commentators in the country (and an outstanding citizen) should give you pause before criticizing Stoop's "character redshirt"?     Dusty credits Stoops with an intervention that turned his life around completely.   Coaches can't control totally control players' actions for the rest of their lives.  But occasionally they can  give a kid an appropriate punishment, and help them regain their balance in life.    Same with Mixon.  He walked the straight and narrow path for 3 years after sitting out for an entire year, and became a pretty decent pro ball player.    If you want a coach that throws young men away like trash if they make a mistake or have a problem, you can probably find one.   But I wouldn't brag about it when you do.   (And occasionally you err, and a second chance doesn't help - then you regretfully waive goodbye).

Are you lost?  You want to reason on a Texas board how OU's some holier than thou program saving young men's lives?  LOL

This is SurlyHorns during an especially shitty season for Texas.  Do yourself a favor and take these takes to reddit or where ever the fuck else it will play.

If the take that OU is a holier than though program saving young men's lives will play over on reddit, then that place is even shittier than it was years ago when I popped in and realized what a shithole it was.

So yeah... go there.
