If CDC has the brass balls we think he does, he'd fire Mensa "unexpectedly" tomorrow or, at least the next time we lose.

If we win out and go 3-0, then the obvious answer would be that he could stay another couple years and swap out the assistants, so that would argue in favor of firing him ASAP before the bowl game and not giving him a chance to stick around.

Let's see what CDC is made of.

Its not CDC, its who pays these bills.

More important than the coach"s ego are the egos of the BMDs. If they do not tire of this high priced/low value mediocre-ville in the major sports, so be it. We cannot change anything except stop showing up to games. If all that matters is fielding a team, so you can go have drinks with you rich buds in lux box while watching real opposing teams play and stomp "your" team, so be it. But don't pretend to care about winning if you aren't prepared to do the things you need to do to win at this level.

With so many Cali refugees in ATX, I think the UT admin goal is to try to be UC Berkley at Austin. The Dell Med School is already that way. Winning at football is not cool enough.

Herman will most likely be here next year, for sure, thanks to a combination of contracts/money, Georgia, and the (likely spurious) "continuity" argument. Then, to survive to 2021, he has to throw a coordinator plus one or more assistants under the bus as soon as this year's over (I vote Orlando, Mehringer and demote Beck to QB Coach and bring in a legitimate OC) and somehow manage to salvage the 2020 recruiting class and limit the after-season defections into the transfer portal. And of course have an acceptable 2020. All that together is a tall order so, no, I don't think he's here in 2021.

He should be fired at the end of the season. What has he done to deserve to get to reload his coaching staff? Mack earned that right. But neither Charlie nor Tom have. It’s idiotic to let the same guy that just picked this shit staff to go do it again. And everyone knows that. Other coaches, recruits, etc. It’s a sinking ship. Cut bait. Anyone who can’t see that should be fired also.

Facts, it's time to cut bait. It would be foolish to trust Herman to make a good decision on the next coordinator and assistant hires after he screwed the pooch when he first got here. No established P5 coordinator worth their salt would hitch their wagon to Herman knowing that he is on the hot seat. You'd have to look at young, up and coming coordinators who are looking to boost their resume but there's absolutely zero guarantee that Herman would identify that type of coaching talent.

This situation is not going to get better, he's a 7-10 win guy and we won't win the conference title with him at the helm, he is what he is. His arrogance, stubbornness and refusal or inability to adapt to in-game situations will continue to be an anchor around this team. Do not be afraid to rip the band-aid off, just do it otherwise we'll REALLY be up Shit Creek at the end of next season and we're sitting at 6-6.

All I know is we're going to Santa Fe next Thursday for a long weekend. Staying on the Plaza and gonna shop, drink, eat, & relax at 10,000 Waves next Saturday. I have zero desire to track the Texas-Baylor game. Fuck coach Mensa.

You’ve upped your game big time. Better than going to the movies.

No seasoned assistant will want to work for a coach who has to fire everyone to keep his job. Probably wouldn't want to work for that guy anyway.

Fire his ass now.

This where I am.  I don't care if it's breaking up with a girlfriend, leaving a job, or firing a head coach: once you realize it's not a good long-term fit, get it over with now and get on with the next chapter.

Yup! The program was trending in the right direction.  Starting to compete with top 10 teams and we were recruiting well.  We cannot do a 180 and end up in the dumpster again.  It takes 4-5 years to climb out of rock bottom.  We’ve been there.  We are going to head back there if a change isn’t made.  Elite players don’t want to play for 6-7 win teams.  Good leaders have foresight and make changes before shit hits the fan.  It’s why guys like Saban and Urban are great at what they do.  We only make changes when the stadium is empty and it hurts the administrations pockets.  For once, make a change before it’s too late.

There's been a lot of pissin' and moanin' on here about how no coordinator worth a shit would come here to work for Herman because he's on the hot sheet, blah, blah. Bullshit. a really good coordinator will come here for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is the hope to succeed TH if he's really on the way out. Yes, a marginal to ordinary OC/DC might stay put where he's safe, but a rising star will have the chops and the ego to come get in line to succeed TH, or at the very least show that he can excel at a blue blood program.

See LSU for contradiction.

Then explain your school president and AD having to fly to Tulsa to meet with a non-play calling co-oc  in an effort to convince him to reconsider his rejection of an offer to be OC at the University of Texas.

not after tom already laying the groundwork for firing him last night saying we need to examine our offensive game plans

Beck is actually a good recruiter and gets god talent from AZ. There is enough shitty assistants on the offensive side to dump a couple and bring in another play caller while making Beck an overpriced QB coach.

He's not going anywhere anytime soon.   Headed for a 7-5 season.   Another one like that and it may be borderline in '20.

But for the time being, just settle in for the ride with bad coaching and game outcomes that are as unpredictable as Herman's hairline.

probably the truth, that stupid premature extension just makes things too costly right now. we have shaka to buy out first. it's going to be blame the coordinators and kick the can down the road, CDC will continue to play carnival clown in front of diminishing crowds.

He razes the staff, gets one more year, and, then, it's adios.  If it would help get Herman out the door faster, we need to lose the last two games.  The Texas Exes sent me an email less than a week ago asking for money.  Today, I responded that until we demand the same performance in athletics we demand in the classroom, my wallet is officially closed.  I've had it.
