Trivial things that make you surly

I am clean my phone screen and begin to watch a video and people keep texting me. Goddamn it, now not only do I have to interrupt whatever I am watching (porn, videos about photography, a movie, more porn), but I am going to get the screen full of fingerprints. Goddamn it. Stop fucking texting me, I don’t like you.

Given what you’re watching, you’re going to be re-cleaning your screen anyway.

Unsubscribing from email lists. Saying it will take anywhere from 2-10 days to take me off the list. Yet the second I sign up for one, I get bombarded. Fuck off.

I always feel like I am actually locking in for another  distribution list. "Are you sure you want to unsubscribe?  Because this link actually sells your email address to some other scheisters who will inundate your inbox with useless bullshit."

Yep. I am very suspicious of the ones who want me to insert my email address again. Why should I need to? So you guys know it is active and sell it off to who knows else? I will just usually mark it as spam at that point and let Gmail do its thing.

Service dog my ear. That crap makes me very surly.  I sat next to one from Seattle to IAH. Damn thing crapped on takeoff and landing, and then took another massive dump in the airport concourse. The FAA or Congress really gotta get ahold of this, it’s madness.

Why is dumbass Google Maps now often recommending a slower and longer route instead of the fastest?  Sometimes none of the 3 options are the fastest, with the most obvious one not even displayed?  I started noticing this about a month ago.

For example, currently recommending the longest (+16 miles) and slowest (+11 minutes) option that also includes tolls, vs all free on the most direct and fastest:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/31.1277429,-97.9412499/29.409542,-98.484118/@29.7340064,-98.5098584,102286m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!4m1!3e0

And for the last several months in some searches it will do that to avoid Border Patrol checkpoints.  If you do El Paso to Albuquerque it gives you the straight shot up the freeway, but choose from certain streets in El Paso and it will recommend a winding backroad from Radium Springs to Rincon that avoids a checkpoint but adds 13 minutes to the trip.

Example:

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/31.8704099,-106.5308154/35.083153,-106.636461/@32.4681165,-107.0840357,10.21z/data=!4m2!4m1!3e0

Some woke Googlebrat minion sticking it to the man.  Still bitter about having to throw away his pineapple.

this annoys me, along with it showing extremely unlikely alternate routes instead of likely alternate routes.

i also wish there was something between tolls are ok and no tolls.  i don't mind paying a couple bucks if i'm saving 15 minutes, but not for 1 or 2 minutes saved.

the emphasis on and fascination with mock drafts

mock drafts are basically fucking fan fiction-- who in the fuck CARES who MIGHT take which player when? like no shit Denver might take Justin Fields, or look here's a mock draft and instead San Francisco makes a trade and takes him! Or New England or New Orleans or who the fuck reads this shit?

You're on a message board.  Look at every post you make and every post others make.....it is all "fan" fiction.

It's not like we can have Fitlump post here all the time so we have a real city council member explain things to us....and post her tits.

True. Mocks were originally NOT about picking who was going to draft whom, but for a general ranking players in some degree of order by talent, with positional need factored in. Fake draft gurus, especially in the digital blog age in which there are virtually no qualifications necessary, decided to make it some kind of goofy contest. Now these goofy draft prediction contests have become mainstream in the national media, as the quality of sports coverage continues to plummet into depths of stupidity dredged deeper and deeper with each passing year. The stupidest ones are the ones in which they predict trades. Just quit it, y'all.

The declining draft media culture is the reason I have lost so much interest in what was once a true passion.

Douchebags who are too important to put their trays back at airport security

Corollary: the lazy ass TSA folks just standing around who can't even say 'thank you' when I stack up 3-4 trays left by above-mentioned douchebags.

Yes, I'm just astounded that anyone thinks vaping in an office is ok.

When I was in school I had a part time job telemarketing for the local cable company. (Warner Cable, formerly Qube, before the merger with Time, now Spectrum.) We could smoke cigarettes in the office. I could call you up and you could hear me light up and exhale a big puff of smoke without seriously affecting the rhythm of my patter. And I was the leader on the sales board.

Then they instituted a policy where the smokers had to use smokeless ashtrays. We were all working in little cubicles. Then they changed it to where we could only smoke in the break room. Then they made us all go outside to smoke. Then they banned smoking on the premises altogether. And that was before California was the first state to pass a law banning smoking in public places, which I was there to witness.

It went into effect on 12:00 AM on Jan 1. I was out there for some NYE concert and we went to a sports bar the next day to watch whatever bowl game the Buckeyes were playing in. I asked a waitress how things had gone down the night before. I figured they probably just blew it off until the next day. But she said, “Nope.” At midnight they went around and collected all the ashtrays and from that moment on all the smokers had to go outside to light up.

I also remember riding on buses and airplanes that had “smoking sections” as if everyone on board wasn’t getting exposed to the cigarette smoke. And that was as a child who never smoked before.
