CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) -- An Ohio woman is facing charges after police say she stabbed another woman inside a church because of her boots, according to WJW.

Meredith Lowell

The stabbing happened shortly after 5 p.m.  Wednesday at Fairmount Presbyterian Church in Cleveland Heights.

According to the police report, the victim had taken children she babysits to the church for choir practice when the suspect,  Meredith Lowell, came up and stabbed her.

The victim suffered two stab wounds to her arm and abdomen.  She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

When officers arrived, a bystander was restraining Lowell. Police applauded the actions of those in the church for putting their safety at risk to help the victim.

The Fairmount Presbyterian Church said the children were moved to secure room until their parents arrived.

Cleveland Heights police said they believe Lowell's motive is similar to that of her past crimes. In 2012, she was charged with attempting to hire a hit man to kill a person wearing fur. The victim in the latest incident was wearing faux fur boots.

Police said Lowell does not attend the church, but she does live nearby.

Lowell, 35, was charged with felonious assault and attempted murder. She appeared in court via video on Thursday and her bond was set at $1 million. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.

The church will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.

"The congregation is grateful for all the gestures of support from the Cleveland Heights Community and interfaith partners. Please continue to pray for us," the church said in a statement.

I don't think so. Incels are violent psychopaths. I don't think they even like women. They just like to whine and every once in a while one of them goes on a shooting spree.

Cleveland Heights police said they believe Lowell's motive is similar to that of her past crimes. In 2012, she was charged with attempting to hire a hit man to kill a person wearing fur. The victim in the latest incident was wearing faux fur boots.

https://www.newsweek.com/woman-who-tried-hire-hitman-anyone-wearing-fur-arrested-stabbing-someone-wearing-fur-1473387

The alleged attacker is no stranger to inciting violence against those who wear fur. Lowell was previously arrested in 2012 for federal solicitation to commit murder and using an interstate device for murder for hire for attempting to hire a hitman on Facebook to kill a random woman for wearing a fur coat, either by slitting her throat or shooting her.

"I would like to create an online community on facebook which would allow me to find someone who is willing to kill someone who is wearing fur toward the end of October 2011 or early November 2011 or possibly in January 2012 or February 2012 at the latest," Lowell allegedly wrote under the name Anne Lowery. She requested that the murder take place at a local library, so she could both witness it take place and hand out fliers about animal cruelty after it took place. Lowell also requested the victim be preferably "14 years or older," though she would be fine with it if the victim was 12 to 14.

"I want the person dead in less than 2 minutes (under 2 minutes or 1 minute or less would be better.)," she added in emails to the assassin she thought she'd hired, who was actually an FBI undercover officer.

The charges were later dismissed because Lowell was found incompetent to stand trial "due to a mental defect", and was prohibited from possessing a gun as a result of the finding. During hearings for those charges she described herself as an animal rights activist, and agents found animal rights literature when they searched her trash.

Good job dismissing those prior charges, law enforcement.  You did all you could.

According to the video, she also tried to stab someone last year, that case is still pending.  So that's 3 murder attempts for her in the last 7 years.

in that case, the $1M bond may be justified. but this begs the question, how can the justice system let this nutty bitch roam freely among normal people?

Yeah, may be time to put this bitch in a padded room for a few decades or forever.  Or we can just wait until she kills someone for wearing fur.

Actually JFK.  His admin was the one that started the push to replace institutionalization with outpatient drug therapy.  Well intentioned, but didn't quite go as planned, and the resulting Supreme Court ruling in the 80's made it very difficult ever since to institutionalize and keep institutionalized most of those who need it.  The Reagan admin lost that case, though somehow that got twisted 180 degrees into "Reagan released the mentally ill and thus created homelessness."  The USSC new standard made it illegal for most of those to continue to be held.  Mitch Snyder and his lies can EABOD.

We'll never make the needed adjustments to humanely and effectively get anywhere close to 'solving' the mental health and homeless issues without Congress passing legislation that confronts that ruling and an administration committed to the years it will probably take to fight it up through the court system.  State and local can only do so much, their hands are ultimately tied by that 80's USSC decision.

I know that there were issues with abuse in the past, and there probably would be again.  I know that any reduction in individual liberty is on its face suspect at best.  I still think this woman is a prime example of why involuntary institutionalization should make a comeback.

I bet ironically she wears a huge bush.

When’s the last time it was stabbed? I’m guessing circa 1996.

Surly law types, how many times can one commit or attempt to commit the same crime and still be free due to the “mental defect”?

Asking for a friend, I presume?

Seems to be a common question we are asking more and more for every news story posted.
