Can we please stop with this CFP committee smell test shit, do some real realignment, face the facts that schools like Vandy, Oregon State, Rutgers, Indiana, TCU have had their time, whether 5 years ago or 50, and go to a true 4-6 team conference setup where those who win, get in?

I get the rivalry hate, but one of these is not like the others.  If we had a real 8-team playoff TCU was probably the 2010 national champion, and had a good shot in 2014.

TCU hasn't been relevant for a stretch longer then 1-2 seasons since Sammy Baugh played there.

Don't be ridiculous, they are in the top 15 for win percentage in the last decade.  They belong in the power 5 or a slimmed down power 4.

Does UCF, Memphis, Rutgers, Cincinnati, UH, USF, Temple or Indiana belong in this discussion?

And that is why true realignment will never happen.  If what you are talking about was to come to pass no one would agree on the chopping block.  Kick out TCU? They deserve to be there more than Miss State, Ole Miss, or South Carolina.  But the SEC would never allow that....

Oh shit.... If tOSU loses to Wiscy does that mean Bama belongs in this fucked up playoff?  Paul Penishead Finebaum thinks so.

Tua's bad leg changed everything in college ball this year.  Had Jalen Hurts been on their roster, Bama would be in the playoffs of course.

I'm OK with UGA...for the moment. The refs kinda/sorta cost them a national championship a couple years ago but we don't hear about it ad nauseam. They took Notre Dame out of the picture for all of us this season. And tonight they went out in such a manner that no one will be arguing for a second SEC team.

Actually when watching the Big12 game, some ESPN idiot tweeted that Georgia was more deserving than either of them even if Georgia (who hadn’t played yet) ultimately lost by 100.

And only moronic media bitches use phrases like “more deserving”, “eye ball test”, “best loss”, “worst win” and the like.

They have been overrated since they lost to fucking South Carolina. Kirby Smart is shitty. They recruit lights-out (wonder why?) and that’s it. What is going to be really annoying is seeing how they favor the SEC if Ohio State loses this game.

money talks.

once this contract is over, at some point, someone is going to realize that adding 4 more teams (which pretty much all of us agree is the max needed), would add upwards of  HALF A BILLION dollars a year because we would add 4 playoff games to the college football final.

8 nope. needs to be at least 16 and it will eventually be. cause the first round would be a home game for the top 8 seeds then on to the neutral site games. because dinero cash money.

eventually it will be 32 cause look at basketball. it is inevitable and you only 8 clowns can fuck right off. yeah yall will get your 8 but it wont last because 8 is just as stupid as 4 which is just as much a fraud as 2 was.

At the very least, every P5 conference champ should make the playoff. Really every D1 conference champ should make the playoff, but that’s an entirely different discussion. College football, the only sport in ALL OF SPORTS, where you can win your division/conference, but have no shot at competing for the title in your sport. It’ll never make any sense to me.

There are just enough schools to divide into a major and a mid-major division 1-A. This could be plausible by the mid majors being able to actually play for a national championship like other division levels, and for the sake of parity, each league could have a promotion and relegation clause where the last place team in the major league is replaced by the first place team from their mid-major counterparts. Bowl season can be played by any school from any conference as appropriate tie-ins are concerned. But this would free up the conferences to get more in line with having parity with regard to how many member institutions they field.

All I care about is why in the hell isn't Texas in this discussion? After 3 years, Tom, get your shit together or leave. The clock is ticking and the natives are restless. You’re being paid a whole lot more money than you’re worth. If you think you’re worth it, show it.

Georgia owes all of their relevance in the past 5 years to the SEC east. Playing Bama once as well as LSU in the regular season.

They wouldn’t be in the conversation if they played in a real conf. .

First and foremost...  fuck Georgia.  That said Georgia would wreck the ACC(-clempson) & Pac if they wanted to be there.

The committee is incompetent.  Georgia at 5 is fucking absurd.  They have gotten worse as the season played out.  They looked bad against aggy and they just got pantsed in a situation where a win gets them in the playoff.  Alabama at 13 and the 5th ranked SEC team is equally absurd.  Alabama would be a betting favorite at a neutral site against teams 4-12.

2017 South Florida 10–2 6–2 2nd (East) W Birmingham 21 21

so the EIGHT teams you mentioned COMBINED have 17 ranked seasons since 2000 while TCU has 12

those EIGHT teams have FOUR seasons in the top 10 if you count just one poll and ONE season in the top 5 in those combined seasons while TCU has SEVEN seasons in the top 10 and TWO in the top 5

but yea that was a quality comparison on your part just mentioning any of those teams compared to TCU much less EIGHT of them COMBINED for relevant football seasons in recent history

Georgia should be banned from any post-season play or bowl games for five years after thinking that they could shut down Joe Burrows with a three man rush.  I was offended in having to watch such jackassery from their defensive coordinator.  Burrows just sat back there reading the paper and smoking a cigarette,   occasionally glancing up until somebody inevitably came open.
