The Zeke contract is definitely 100x worse than whatever we're gonna pay Dak. Zeke still had two years left on his deal. Should have let him hold out and then in two years dump him.

See SFs and the Chiefs starting RBs.

CJ Anderson and the Rams. Every Patriots team ever.

Picking Zeke over Jalen Ramsey or Byron Jones is insane.

They picked Zeke over Ramsey twice then, right?

LOlz.

Lmao at thinking Ramsey would have made an ounce of difference on this team that had an old fossil at DC and played soft zone. Zeke instantly made this team better because they built this team on the foundation of a bell cow RB. He is that and transformed this offense.

Oh, and Ramsey sure helped the Rams this season, too!

Some of y'all have zero concept on how a player fits with Team A is not the same way he will be used and valued on Team B.

Why on earth are you comparing what the Pats and Chiefs do compared to us? NE has the best QB to ever play this game along with the best coach ever. They can win however you want them to. Chiefs have easily the best QB right now and a coach who can get the best out of their QBs.

Also, Byron Jones' talent can be found in the middle rounds. He is nowhere near worth what he wants. Quick, name me all the big plays Byron has made his entire career here. Fuck that spare. But hey, PFF stat dorks love him.

I missed the part where a judgment was rendered on the decisions.

Either way, zeke has hardly paid off from the team perspective partially due to off-field issues and majorly from Jason Garrett’s silent flaccidity.

Defensive Vic is funny AF though.

Why throw at Byron when you have Chido on the other side? No, Byron Jones is not a hall of famer but he's the best CB in free agency this year.

The second best CB in free agency is probably Chris Harris Jr who gave up twice as many yards as Byron last year and two more TDs. Oh and he's also three years older.

There's a reason actual good front offices hand out monster contracts to guys like Stephon Gilmore and let their running backs test free agency. Draft a running back, use them up and discard them. Or sign cheap RBs in free agency. They will have 85% or 90% of the production at 1/20th of the price tag.

Who would you rank as a worse GM among the 4 major US sports? Fisher on 105.3 said he was told by the Jones' the reason Jerry won't pay Byron Jones is because they have a rule about not paying any secondary players. Why would they have such a rule? They feel they got burned by Brandon Carr's contract. So because of one over payment to a pretty good but not gr at CB you just go into every season with trash safeties and whatever you can draft or get off the scrap heap at corner.

It's JJ and nobody else is even close.  He's been truly the one running the show since 1994.  I am not giving him any credit for the SB win in 95 since we all know who really built that team.  Let's say that by 98 at least half of the team Jimmy Johnson built was no longer on the roster.  So since 1998 they've won 3 playoff games, made the playoffs 9 times, and have won 5 division titles.  If JJ were simply the owner, he would have fired any GM with results like that without any question.  He's the worst thing to have ever happened to the Cowboys outside of hiring Jimmy Johnson.

Trade Dak to Jags for Foles/Ngakoue.  I like Dak, but they are gonna cripple themselves.

Geezus Christ!! Will yall quit this shit.

Cap hell doesnt exist. The NFL is literally the only thing on broadcast television that consistently increases in ratings. Networks are lined up at their front door groveling to give the NFL all of their money.  Do you think Tony Romo getting a 10 yr $170 million contract was just for the hell of it?  Nothing out there commands ratings the way the NFL does and it's a must have if a network hopes to garner eyes for anything else on their network.

Owners feed fans this bullshit idea that there is some sort of imaginary pie that can only be portioned out into little bite size pieces.  The fact of the matter is that the pie grows at a ridiculous rate every year therefore a record signing today becomes a paltry sum by tomorrow. Of course Stephen, the Cowboys, and many of us fans are still scarred by the end of the triplets era (and beginning of the salary cap) so we haven't realized the changing paradigm of today's NFL salary cap.  If we would've signed Dak, Cooper, and Byron Jones at top of the market rates last year this time they would've all been making chump change 2 months later.

For reference top of the market QB money before Wilson, Wentz, and Goff signed their contracts last offseason was around $27M or $28M

Maybe, maybe not. You yourself, just up thread, noted how soft and unaggressiveness our defensive system has been for his entire career. Who knows what he would be in a more aggressive defensive scheme. I would've loved for us to have franchised Jones for this upcoming season (if we wouldve signed both Cooper and Dak last offseason) to see what he looked like in a better scheme.
