Anybody got a clip of the jackass Utah d-lineman pulling that crap on Sam at the end of the 3rd quarter?  I have a Utah friend who is claiming there was nothing out of line.  Personally, I thought he should have been ejected.

And for fucks sake, he did that shit with his helmet off!

Local Utah fan here. The UT fans were by far the most gracious and welcoming fan base I’ve ever come across. I got lost on the river walk multiple times and was escorted to safety and the stadium by Texas fans.  They offered me food, drinks and after the game were polite and wished us safe travels.  Even though we ran out of time for the comeback, can’t wait to come back to Texas to visit more longhorns.

Howdy! That’s good bull sir.

They showed it on replay.  I'm surprised he wasn't ejected.

Didn't he go at Sam three times, and kick him? I was pretty drunk at that point and could be wrong. Oh, and 15 yard penalty should have been called for his helmet off.

Thanks for posting.  That's how I remembered it.  He was no where near contact in the time his helmet is off although he certainly could have been if the play lasted a couple of more seconds.

I ask, what's the difference between what he did and the other 99.8% of the time a guy loses his helmet and ends up not getting called for a penalty?  Nothing.  I guess you're supposed the lay on the ground and shield your head of wave your hand to signify you give up, but it never happens.  Guys who lose their helmet ALWAY continue is some fashion, pushing, moving to the ball, running.  I don't disagree with the intent of the rule, just that he did nothing to warrant a penalty for something that happens several times per game but doesn't get called.

Anyway, great way to end a disappointing season.  Worked out great, being matched up against a much higher ranked team and dominating.  Hopefully gives guys who are considering the portal and guys not yet signed a glimpse of what the program can be under better leadership/coaching.  So happy to see the defense and especially the DL kill it last night.  I am more than ready to see Texas play fucking defense again.

I think the rule has something about "pursuing" the play without a helmet.

For those who know jack shit about gambling, this guy placed a $100k bet to win $37k if Utah simply wins by any margin? Easy money. What could go wrong?

What was the line on the game?

Utah was a 7 point favorite so numbnuts bought the 7 points only to still lose by 28

I don't think he ever threw a punch or kick, but he shoved Sam back to the ground several times and was trying to start a fight.

That’s correct. UTAH just had to win for him to win.

Yes he did, and the ref was looking unobstructed right at it all from 5 yards away.

Goddamned dirty shits.

Yes, he gave Sam a kick near the end of his dirty tantrum. Very embarrassing for the Utes to have a POS  like that representing their school on national TV, not to mention that ref being exposed as either a blind man or a bribed motherfucker.

Rewatching now

@17:23

Joseph Ossai would've been kicked out of the game in the shit12 for that hit

I thought the same thing when I saw that. Enjoyed not worrying about targeting and random holds or non-holds on every other play.

All three teams looked pretty good. O was running better combinations of plays, including running from passing formations and vice-versa. D was a fucking revelation of the truth of our belief that our roster includes a helluva lot more talent than it's showed the last two seasons, and kicked serious ass.

I reserve the heavy-duty plaudits for ST, though, and particularly for the returners. Mighty fine. Mighty, mighty fine. Who gets credit for that?

Were there any Yurcich or Ash sightings?

how do you get lost on the river walk?

Hotel, overpriced mediocre Tex-mex, theme bar, gift shop, stone bridge and repeat in a circle for two miles. Love the River Walk but I could see how a newbie would get lost.

They did. We got half distance to goal added to play.

Cool, thanks.  I don't recall, do refs have the authority to toss a player for egregious unsportsmanlike?  If so, this would have been a good candidate for that kind of action.

Shoulda been at least three fouls on that play: roughing the passer, targeting (even if helmetless), unsportsmanlike conduct... oh, and playing without a helmet. Oh, wait, then another unsportsmanlike conduct.

So penalty from the end of the play is  half the distance, then half the remaining distance, then half of that, and half of that. Um, and half of that, too. And finally, disqualification of the shitstain. And if the rules had any sign of testicular function, the disqualification would be without replacement - play a man short, let's see how that works for you.

Saw a player get tossed from a game this week for a less egregious kick than that one.

All morning XM84 "Full Ride," (which I normally love), was saying the same shit as last year.

Utah didn't want to be there because it wasn't a New Year's 6 bowl.

Lulz.  The idea that Utah has such lofty expectations is... laughable.  Take the loss, pussy.

They ran plenty of 3 wide.

I doubt he's a poor schmuck if he can throw down $100k on a football game. Either that, or he'll be swimming with the fishes soon.

Agree with most of this.  Interesting that ESPN didn't focus on the seriousness of the play.  I really think the player was trying to get thrown out of the game, because he was tired of getting beat all game long.  Should have been thrown out and should miss first half of first game next season if he is coming back.

One of the areas where Rugby Football and American Football agree is that it is a foul to tackle a player who does not have the ball. In the play under discussion, the defender can be excused for the first part, since Ehlinger did have the ball at first, but the entire rest of it is the very definition of egregious action: punching, hitting, kicking, and repeatedly knocking down the quarterback, who obviously does not have the ball anymore and is clearly not participating in the play.

Upon further review, defender is disqualified for the balance of this game and from any game following, until the end of next season.

Wow, I missed this part of the game and haven't re-watched yet.  Did the refs call that dirty little Utah shitstain for anything?

It did take Sam actually standing up and getting shoved back down before the flag came out though.  Bravo?
