so why did i think sdny operated independently?  aren’t there parts of that office not under barr’s thumb?

Nope.

But US Attorneys are subject to Senate confirmation.

Now, to continue the BIllions analogy, a guy like Oliver Dake

Comes from the DOJ Office of the Inspector General, which is supposed to be outside the normal chain of command, but still at least nominally under the control of the AG.

But, we've seen how it goes with OIGs in the Trump Administration.

We're one bad election result from becoming a fully fascist state.

If this fucker wins, or successfully steals it, we're going to find out that this is him on his best behavior, this is him reeled in and being handled and managed, and then once he no longer has another election to win, we're gonna find out what he's really capable of.  And it's going to be as bad a chapter as there is in any nation's history.

senate confirmation lol.
we don’t really do that type of thing anymore.
so who from sdny will be investigating trump on jan 21?

As soon as Biden takes his hand off the Bible, he needs to fire all Trump appointees to the DOJ. He can be late to the inaugural balls.

For those lawyers out there, what can be done to protect any current investigations that maybe under threat with this move by the admin?

In the John Grisham version of this story a law student has written a brief and there’s copies of of shit being made.

Why one bad election away?  We are a fascist state.  We just haven't come to terms with it yet, and pretend we're "free."

there really does need to be some comeuppance for continually having everyone “acting” and never actually “confirming” anyone. It’s supposed to be an exception, not the rule.

this would be sweet revenge if they can’t fire him, for, you know, investigating the president.

Something is off in the description - is the leak from a SC Justice Clerk or someone else at the Supreme Court?  Has SC Clerk quality fallen that low? If it's a clerk, his or her days as a lawyer are over.

Thanks for posting it LABEVO - interesting piece of news.
