I have been meaning to fact-check this.  This article seems to explain the issue. https://www.sacbee.com/news/california/water-and-drought/article240448876.html

Because of drought in the upper San Joaquin delta, less water has been diverted from the river to support salmon and the delta smelt.  That water ends up in SF Bay.

The "rationing" part is overstated.

Yeah, it's complicated AF.  In my wife's case, closing MRGO has resulted in less salt water intrusions and increased wetland rebuilding, but it's changing the fisheries in unexpected ways that are leading for calls for adjustments in flows, which brings out every delta lobbying interest imaginable.

I guarantee he doesn't understand it at all. Like even at a kindergarten level.

Yeah, I was jarred a while back by one of my flyover country aunts’ posts on FB. I forget the exact wording, but the basic point was that congressmen are out of touch wealthy elites because they earn $174k/year.

And you have to maintain residences in both DC and the congressional district.

Imagine if you're Collin Allred: you gotta keep the family in Downtown Dallas, and RENT a place in DC?  It's why so many of them sleep on their couch in the congressional offices. #gross

And, of course, the root of the problem is a bunch of farmers decided to operate farms in essentially a desert in central California.

And then there's LA, which is also in a desert.

And they demand that the government supply them with water from another part of the state that isn't a desert.

And that's not socialism.

If this is what he's talking about, it just goes to show he only picks up bits-and-pieces of the things that people tell him in briefings, does ZERO homework and just spit out things he thinks he remembers at weird fucking times.

It reminds me of the time Reagan said that trees cause more pollution than automobiles do.

Can we revisit this 25th Amendment thing again for a moment? What exactly is it that Pelosi is trying to accomplish? Is it only House Ds that are meeting or are there other parties involved like from the administration?

The timing of it is weird and I can't help but start having conspiratorial thoughts. I've had a sinus infection the past couple of days and have been kind of out of it, but wasn't this announced about the same time that Pence was skipping his rally in Arizona to come back to the White House with speculation being that he, himself, had now come down with the virus? But, now, the news that Cabinet members are ignoring Trump's orders to have Biden, Obama, et al to be indicted or arrested.

Could it be that everyone, inside and outside the Administration, sees the writing on the wall that Trump will lose and they're planning to pull the 25th after the election to avoid any further Trump madness during the transition? Is that remotely within the realm of possibility or am I reading too much into it?

Thanks. I'll hang up and listen now.

As I understand it, and I think they are rolling out the proposal this morning, is they would like to use the highlighted below:

to create a future body to help evaluate the physical and mental fitness of the president if health issues are a concern.  Basically it's currently an honor system based on the Vice PResident and Cabinet right now, and she'd like to get some medical professionals involved.  It would apply to future presidents and have to be signed into law. She's not trying th invoke the 25th on Trump (she can't), but she's using the fact that he's sick to high light we need to fix some huge gaps in our succession and presidential fitness protocols.

She's not letting a good political crisis go to waste, as they say.

My understanding -- and why I would be interested in this right now -- is based on his COVID diagnosis.  It raises the possibility that we have a super-ill POTUS, who requires significant medical care and is not fit to govern (he is sedated, incoherent, on a vent, etc.), but who also refuses to accept those facts and keeps yelling "I remain in charge."

Before, with EVERY OTHER POTUS, we could trust them to do the right thing: "hey, I'm in seriously bad shape, let me hand over power for the time being until I've recovered."  Trump will never, ever do that.  Seriously, if his COVID heats up and he goes on a vent, he will NOT voluntarily invoke the 25th.  So what do we do then?

I just don't see the Republicans agreeing to it now.  They've happily eaten Trump's shit for almost 4 years.  Why would they suddenly stop asking for more of it a month before the election?  It would destroy their remaining hopes of keeping the Senate.  Plus it would shine an even worse light on trying to run ACB's nomination through.

Because the rest of the Republicans want to have a career after the election, and that doesn't happen if they go down with Trump.

Best I can tell, my house in NW Hills would pull ~ $4.4M if it were in a similar DC neighborhood.

I can confidently attest to the fact that my house is SO not worth anything like $4.4M.

Pete gonna earn himself a cabinet post.

I'm pretty sure he already has. He makes a great impression every time he speaks, Biden has spoken glowingly about his future, and Pete dropped out of the race and endorsed Biden before the SC Primary, helping him secure the nomination. Plus he's available.

I read something additional that relates to the language of "the inability" to perform the duties. It is rather vague and the pandemic and the nature of types of illness brought that into sharper focus.

“This is [from] a woman in Massachusetts named Kathy,” Limbaugh said, reading the listener’s question. “‘I’m glad that you and the lady are recovering from COVID, so happy you’re our president thank you for all you do to defender us. Questions about health care and pre-existing conditions are very important to me and a lot of Americans. I believe you said pre-existing conditions will be covered in your health care plan, but please could you explain this a little more because there are a lot of people saying you’re not going to cover pre-existing conditions and I wish you need to get your message out since this that the Democrats are trying to malign you on this.”

Defend democracy. Click to invest in courageous progressive journalism today.
The president didn’t spend much time addressing health care or pre-existing conditions.

“The Democrats are vicious and they lie, and what they do, as an example health care and other things,” Trump said, “they have me standing at the grave of beautiful soldier at an old cemetery, magnificent cemetery, and nobody respects soldiers more than I do, especially whether you’re talking about live soldiers or soldiers that gave their lives, and they have a source say these are suckers and losers. This was for a magazine that’s third-rate, you know super-liberal Obama magazine, and it’s a quote, they took that quote from one source I have 25 people that verbally, that, you know, on the record, said that was never said. Who would ever say that? Only an animal would say that.”

Trump continued complaining about that Atlantic report, which was corroborated by other news organizations, before addressing Kathy’s question.

“They do the same thing with health care,” Trump said. “They’ll make a statement that’s so bad. Now pre-existing conditions, I’m totally for, but I’m against Obamacare because Obamacare is too expensive. I already got rid of the individual mandate, which is the worst part of Obamacare, that we had to pay a fortune for the privilege of not paying for bad health insurance. You understand that. So I got rid of it, that was I got rid of it through the law. I got rid of it under our tax decrease, the the biggest tax decrease in the history of our country. We would have never been able to build up the economy if we didn’t get that, but one of the things I got in, I got rid of the individual mandate and what I want to do is, and we’re fighting to terminate, I sort of have terminated Obamacare, because once you get rid of the individual mandate it’s no longer Obamacare, but I had a choice to make. Rush, it was a big choice. Do I maintain Obamacare, the remnants of Obamacare, after that the, you know, the mandate. Do I maintain it well or do I run it badly? I could have done it either way.”

Apparently Trump is going to have a physical live on hannity’s show tonight

I’ll give him credit. He understands a spectacle. If he would have just stuck to trash TV or maybe started a Sex Pistols tribute band or something.
