I see a LOT of old people.  And I’ve never heard more say ‘they kind of dropped the ball on this one huh?’

This was the first time I saw cracks.  Not saying it means much but it is the first time any critique of Trump or his admin by more than 1-2 olds I deal with.

"they" doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to you.

The kindest interpretation of "they" (for them) would be the federal bureaucracy that is stonewalling our fine president from taking real pinpoint action like the go getter he is.  The not so kind versions include conspiracies, the Chinese, DOD,  the black crusaders, Dems, teenage acne, etc. ..basically anybody besides The Pres and anyone else with an R by their name.

There are no cracks, this is a circling of the wagons and assigning blame to the usual bogeymen.

I’m curious about your physician brethren. I work with hundreds here in Texas, and lounges are still tuned to Fox News. They bitch about stupid, non-compliant poors dragging down the system, and the government is fucking everyone on reimbursements, thanks Obama! Go, Cheeto!

I presume Chicagoland may be a bit more reasoned, but I’m guessing there are still colleagues of yours who lean red. Assuming my theory is correct, are you seeing any cracks there?

Well, when some form of "socialized medicine" hits, doctors are going to be the hardest hit (docs in the rest of the world make plumber's wages (only slight exaggeration)), so they're voting with their pocketbook.

Nope - listen if what was originally said...and that's literally they will sacrifice old lives to save the younger generation...the olds will not go for that.  The only fucking thing the olds care about more then Trump is themselves.  I'm telling you that messaging will not fly.  It's not going to matter because no matter wtf happens, their message will absolutely NOT be we're gonna kill off a few hundred thousand olds for the sake of the economy.  That may be the plan but if you look at the genesis of this conversation...it started with some R dolt saying the olds are ok dying as a sacrifice for the young folk.  That is laughable on every fucking level.  So will that be the plan and they'll try to bamboozle the olds?  Sure, believable.  Will they try to market it as such?  Hell no.

I find it shocking that olds like Trump, Patrick, et al don't see the threat to their own health.

Do you.

They know that if they get it, their $ will save them. They’ll get a ventilator. There’s very little risk to them in catching the disease (or so they think).

They’re biggest risk is the economy being in the shitter. That’s how they lose an election. That’s how they lose power.

That’s their existential threat. Not the disease.

Whatever they do, they'll change the messaging.  I can't tell you what it will be.  I can just tell you it won't be, 'let's kill off the olds bc they're cool with it.  They want to help all of you'.  Because that's so on brand for that generation.  LOL

The olds will go for it trying to be tough guys, except at the very end when they realize its too late.

Whatever inklings they let on now, by November it'll be "but at least he's not a socialist like Biden and Obama." The $500 billion taxpayer funded slush for corporations is peak capitalism to them. Social safety nets for individuals to avoid this type of catastrophe again will just not stand.

This maniac is actively trying to have more people die from this just so he can keep his businesses afloat and his approval rating higher. At some point there has to be some adults in the room that quarantine this narcissistic psychopath from communicating with the outside world. I know that won't happen, but in another simulation this guy is not the president and is instead introducing the bearded lady to a crowd of rubes in a traveling circus.

This is quickly devolving into one of the darkest periods in the history of our country and all Dotard cares about is money, his approval rating and plenty of attention with these press conferences since his klan rallies are put on hold. I get how we got to the point of this buffoon being in charge because of the last 50 or so years of evangelicals taking over an entire party, but Good Lord enough is enough with this simulation.

Wants churches full on Easter.  He's actually trying to kill his base now right?

The evangelicals have told him they're worried about their church version of Black Friday.

Revenue projections will have to be drastically altered for, ahem, investors if the mega churches miss this payday.

I'm not going to post the finest hour photo from Apollo 13 because I do think there is some big darkness coming but I do think the species will come out of this with a better awareness, and the country with some better priorities.  I'm hoping people are about done with the political anger because it's simply not going to accomplish anything.

Ehh I don't know. I just assume his shoes fit as poorly as his suits.

Yeah, maybe I'm missing something, but they just look like two different shoes to me. Lifts don't change the form of the sole of the shoe, do they?

I'm just rubbing my lucky rabbit's foot that the stock market keeps going back up so this silly notion of reopening everything can go away.

even the people who said 2020 was gonna be fucking crazy had no idea it would be this bad.

I believe most of us here thought this election cycle was going to be wild, but holy hell we haven't even made it to April and we're already waist deep in crazytown. I am not even going to try and imagine what is in store for all of us going forward because of this lunatic and his pursuit of money and never ending need for any kind of attention he can get. Future generations are going to have a very hard time comprehending just how ridiculously insane this time period was and we haven't even gotten to the craziest stuff yet.

I’m all for the quarantine being lifted for MAGA hate rallies and whites only southern evangelical prayer congregations. Just as long as they don’t commiserate with anybody else and stick to their own.

Its God’s will.

Geez, I can't imagine why Dotard wants to open all business asap.

That's a reason.  I don't think he's that worried about that because he will bail his spots out....I'd argue a bigger reason is the countdown to November.  He realizes he's losing time for the economy to recover.  And if it doesn't recover...he's toast.

it's exactly this.

i've wondered what this would look like if it somehow happened in year 5 or 6 of a trump presidency when reelection wasn't an issue.  then i wake up in a cold sweat and take some deep breaths.

I hate that you're right about this.

He's going to do it unless someone gets in his ear and tells him that thousands of people dying on his watch will be worse for him than the economy tanking. I am not real hopeful about anyone getting through to him. I want to be at work, but I realize that right now we all need to stay home as much as possible and do what we can to lessen the impact of this. That is the right thing to do for our fellow human beings if you care at all about those living around you. This guy lacks empathy. When you do not have the ability to show empathy or feel anything for anyone besides yourself these are the kinds of decisions that get made. Dotard is going to be one helluva case study on narcissism for psychologists once this is all said and done.
