I'm not sure exactly what the players want to have happen before they'll play again..

 

I mean, if there are police departments out there that have a policy of targeting black people then fhey need to be indentified as such and the state or feds investigate and take neccesary action, but sitting out college football won't suddenly make true racists less so.

 

Some of the lesser known players will lose their platform status if theyre no longer CFB players, and for those without much playtime yet, gettng in the NFL will be tough if they dont showcase their talents playing college ball.

Joey De Juan Ellis   Joey De Juan Ellis went to be with the Lord, November 12, 2004. Joey was born April 6, 1973, in Littlefield, Texas, to Mary K. Ellis and the late Ben Joe Ellis Jr. Joey attended Travis Elementary School in Odessa. He graduated from John Tyler High School in Tyler, Texas in 1991. He attended The University of Austin at Austin, Texas, on a football scholarship in 1991, where he majored in Sports Management. As a four-year starter, Ellis was considered one of the premier cornerbacks in the SWC and one of the nation s top man-to-man cover men who was worthy of All-American consideration. In addition, Ellis earned first team All-Southwest Conference recognition from the Associated Press, Austin American-Statesmen and Houston Chronicle, was tab second team all-SWC by the Dallas Morning News, Fort Worth Star-Telegram, and the D. Harold Byrd Leadership award by the coaching staff. Because of a successful four year campaign at The University of Texas, Ellis was selected among thousands of college football players across the country to play in the 1995 Hooters Hula Bowl All Star Football Classic. Ellis played in the West Team coached by Lee Corso (ESPN corespondent). In addition, Ellis was signed to play in the National Football League with the Pittsburg Steelers. Due to injuries in 1996, Ellis signed a professional contract to play in the NFL s World Football League with the Amsterdam Admirals. He then married Anquanette (Shun) Sparks in June of 1999. Joey Ellis was the vision and driving force behind Just-4 Kids Sports & Fitness. Joey had a true compassion for working with youth and nurturing their physical and psychological development. Joey s philosophy was that supportive guidance, proper diet, and physical fitness contributes to the mental and emotional wellness of children. He leaves to mourn his faithful, precious wife, Anquanette (Shun) Stakes Ellis; his mother, Mary Ellis Henson and her husband, Theodore R. Henson; his brothers, Mark Ellis of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Jaharri Ellis of Odessa, Texas; one sister, Valerie Ellis of Philadelphia, Pa.; one grandmother, Lillie Mae Ellis of Florida, grandfather, Joseph Johnson Sr. (papa) of Littlefield, Texas; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends. Services will be held at Greater St. John Baptist Church, 212 S. Muskingum, with the Rev. E.J. Miller officiating at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2004.
