Ole Miss Be Dirty -- Journey of a Tier 3 Team in the SEC

Fallout from the Hugh Freeze be dirty scandal...... Ole Miss is reportedly blocking Shea Patterson's waiver request for immediate eligibility to play this year.  5 other players in the same boat.

Ole Miss is objecting to Shea Patterson's assessment of the conditions within the program that the quarterback claims caused him to transfer from the school amid an NCAA scandal, his attorney tells CBS Sports.

The objection recently sent to the NCAA could impact Patterson's ongoing transfer waiver appeal as he is looking to immediately become eligible to play for Michigan in 2018. The objection is part of a response delivered to the NCAA last month, according to attorney Thomas Mars.

Patterson is seeking a waiver of the NCAA's traditional year-in-residence rule for transfers before becoming eligible. The approval of such a waiver would presumably have a significant impact on the Wolverines' 2018 season.

"Whoever wrote that response for Ole Miss either wasn't paying attention last year or had a case of selective amnesia," Mars said.

Ole Miss has issues with how its former quarterback portrayed his reasons for transferring after the Rebels were put on NCAA probation late last year, sources said.

Now, I don't have any sympathy for Captain Comeback, but seems like Ole Miss would want to put this all behind them as quick as possible.... Is there something I'm missing or is Ole Miss just..... being a rebel?

I also didn't know the rule about sitting out for a year is 122 years old.... LOL!  And the process is so easy apparently.

On Feb. 26, Mars said the NCAA received what is being referred to as the full application package from Michigan regarding Patterson's waiver request. However, until Ole Miss officially received the same package from the NCAA, a 10-day waiting period for Ole Miss to review the request didn't begin. Complicating matters, Ole Miss actually received that package as a courtesy from Michigan. Because it didn't officially come from the NCAA, the 10-day clock did not start ticking.

Ole Miss is full of idiots.

Full of worthless athletic administrators who are making hundreds of thousands of dollars each year on the backs of unpaid students.

OK, maybe these students aren't unpaid, but that's their fault, too.

Gotdam, any reasonable person could look at this and see that this stance they're taking is pure idiocy.  But no.  Buncha morons.

In theory, yes. Don't forget, however, they're fucking KhakiPants right in ass, so there's that.

If Baylor didn't exist, Ole Miss would be the shittiest, slimiest program around.

I mean, they first tried to take on the NCAA and back Hugh Freeze.

That blew up spectacularly.  They got their faces shoved into Houston Nutt's asshole.

And now they're trying this stunt?  Why?!?!?!?!?  Did they learn nothing from that?

Whoever is running that school is severely lacking in both logic and self-awareness.

They don't have any real veto power, the NCAA makes the decision. They can object all they want.

True.... but they've chosen the most combative option they had in this situation.....

Ole Miss had the option of advocating for Patterson to the NCAA, not supporting his appeal or remaining neutral. It appears the school is not supporting his attempt at a transfer waiver.

Well, I sure as shit had fun there. But I do concur that we need to step on the gas if we want to get the past behind us. Shea played his ass off for us cut him loose and let him play his ass off for the booger eater.

I said it in the Paterno thread...

Greed is understandable.  Yeah, they should face sanctions, but there is no real victim.  What these guys are doing isn’t jack squat, relative to what was transpiring in State College, PA.

Hate to say it, but Baylor at least allowed the kids full releases when their house burned down. Way to get outclassed by the most crooked institution in the NCAA rebs.

And that's pretty damn hard to do...

Bonus points here because Jim Harbaugh's career prospects pivot on finding a QB this season.  And Shay Patterson is his only chance to do that.

What ever happened to the "satellite camps" that the B1G was pushing for so hard in the SEC footprint, did the NCAA ban the use of satellites..?

Not a rumor, Eric Dickerson was pretty open about who bought him the Trans Am..

But he just kept the car and went to SMU instead.

No take backs was a fair tool used by the recruits of the 1980's..? Well, then again aggy isn't smart enough to make the deal final  before giving the gift...

Remember, nothing is ever allowed to challenge the SEC, so of course, satellite camps were decimated. God forbid the NCAA allow black teens to know that America does have states where the Confederate Flag isn't used as pic art for paper plates. Here is the rule update.

It limits the time for Football Bowl Subdivision coaches to participate in camps and clinics to 10 days in June and July and requires that the camps take place on a school’s campus or in facilities regularly used by the school for practice or competition. Staff members with football-specific responsibilities are subject to the same restrictions.

Just ridiculous how fucking dirty the SEC is. From bagmen handing out casino chips, to 180k in coffee cups, to complaining about their kids leaving the area, the SEC is a cesspool of fuckery.

Did you hear the SEC also abolished it's own rule against in-conference graduates immediately being eligible for playing time at the rival school..? They can do that now too...

Maybe a purple & silver truck was considered"discreet" in relation to college recruiting at schools as SMU at the time..?

Darryl Talley's (all pro for years with the Bills for you young folks) senior year at WVU was my freshman year.  Darryl was from the projects of inner city Cleveland. Darryl had a beautiful white Porsche  that he drove around campus and parked it wherever he wanted to.  He had the Playboy Bunny logo on the roof so everyone knew it was his.  Just not sure how he was able to afford it..........
