Cases are being counted multiple times!  They are inflating the hospitalization numbers, if you come in for something unrelated and then test positive while you are in the hospital, they count that too for the $$$$!  They are coding everything as Covid, even if they died WITH Covid, not FROM Covid!

Unfortunately I'm hearing this from some of my family.  It's a huge source of frustration and sadness in my life right now.  I never thought I would have to tell my parents to STFU, but here we are.

Yes this is precisely what I’m seeing from some people on Facebook.

Well yeah, but your data assumes that like those other countries, the U.S. also has 330mm people.  Way to fudge the numbers to support your fake news.  Fucking typical.

Man, that is some great company we're in---Iran, Brazil, Russia, Chile, and Pakistan?  Must be a great time to be a MAGA fan!

Oh yeah wait, they didn't convert out of the metric system and take into account all the per capitas, of all the capitas!  USA!  USA!  USA!

Jesus, remember when as a nation...we could do a division problem on the chalkboard?

To be fair, all the countries doing fairly well don’t have trump as their president.

Maybe we should cut taxes to get the virus under control.

/ Republicans

We can count on the beneficiaries of the tax cut to give more to the charities and invest wisely in businesses fighting the virus.

It always works out that way. Always. Everytime.

The day care staff could also very well be getting a substantial number of those cases from outside the day care environment, unrelated to any exposure to the children. If that is the case, those data could suggest that adult to child transmission in situations with high ratios of children to adults in indoor environments is rare. I mean, without more information about the clusters and tracing, we can come up with a lot of different angles to dissect. It's all highly speculative.

One way or the other, it appears that we are about to engage in a big natural epidemiological experiment where our children and their teachers are the primary subjects.  Hope that somebody is collecting good data so that we can do a thorough, eh, post-mortem.

Its cool though.  Kids are willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for our economy. Parents if your kid dies from Covid, just make another one.  /dan patrick

I just saw all this school opening talk and wanted to chime in with what my district here in North Texas/Dallas suburb is doing.  They have given us until July 17th to elect whether your kid is going to be virtual or in person for the first 9 weeks of school.  They stated they will not require masks, not lower capacity of students in a class or do any social distancing with desks in class rooms, not stagger in between classes so the halls aren’t wall to wall with kids, not stagger lunch times, not stop the sports programs and basically NOT do anything other than they bought protective shields for the desks but they will not be installed.  They will just be available in each class room if the student wants to grab one and put it up themselves for that class.   My wife is so angry I can’t even explain it.  My brother in law is a Principal at a large High School in the Houston area and he has told us of the multiple plans he has put together of ways to stagger everything from virtual to “in person class” to try and get as little contact for the students and he still thinks it should be virtual at this point and my district is run by a bunch of Republican Trumpers that are doing nothing.  It’s like they put their plan together in 5 minutes the night before they were supposed to present it.  SO FRUSTRATING.

As ye sow, so shall ye reap.   What could go wrong?  Somebody getting their asses sued.

We should all listen to Dr. Navarro, who got his doctorate at Harvard, when it comes to pharmaceutical advice.

(checks notes, sees Navarro got his PhD in Economics and is currently the White House Director of Manufacturing Policy, was behind "Infrastructure Week", and has had one singular job since 2017---to properly explain to Donald Trump what exactly a Tariff is)

gobbluth/ I'VE MADE A HUGE MISTAKE

I remember when that pissant Dotard acolyte was interviewed when he tauted his own ability to understand the data better than Fauci. I will never suffer from hypotensive episodes as long as jerk off sycophants like this are running our country into the ground, it just shoots my blood pressure up higher than the DJIA on a day when record unemployment numbers are released.

But Navarro is ready to put his credentials up against Fauci's any day. As he told CNN on Monday: "My qualifications in terms of looking at the science is that I'm a social scientist. I have a PhD. And I understand how to read statistical studies, whether it's in medicine, the law, economics or whatever."

that seems bad.  is that bad?  i think that's bad.

Considering the Gov controls Fannie, Freddie, FHA, and VA it should have been easy to put measures in place against this like virtually every other country in the world did.

According to Worldmeter site:

Yesterday almost topped 1000 deaths.

Today is already at 700 deaths at this time.

I'm curious if we starting to see the predicted deaths start to go up.

How much longer will they keep up with the “Look at the death rates!!!!”

Anti-vaxxers typically eat up whatever shit is shoved in front of them.  Insecure.  Gullible.  Dull.

If a "vaccine" is packaged and sold as "prophylactic therapy" like people were hoarding hydroxychloroquine for in March and April, maybe that will help.  Calling something a vaccine, that already has a years long, built-in narrative and cultural stigma with nutters and imbeciles, would actually be kinda dumb.  Call it something else, push it on social media, and perhaps more will bite.

Fortunately there is just the thing in development: synthetic antibodies. If successful it could be used prophylacticly or after infection. Not as good as an effective vaccine though because the antibodies would only be in your system for a month or so, but it might give us a bridge to vaccines.

If you are responding to the anti-vax portion of his post, you are taking about reaching a group of people who think that Bill Gates is genetically encoding the mark of the beast into their DNA through a viral vaccine vector. You are not going to reach these people with your fancy antibody talk.  Write them off and move on, we have more pressing needs at the moment to worry about like maybe getting them to wear a fucking mask in the mean time.

We are the worst in the world at dealing with this.  Every other country looks at the U.S. and says, “at least we’re not as fucking stupid as those people.”  An all around embarrassing disregard for human life.  That’s where I live now.  Fuck everything.

And to think some go around beating their chests talking about how exceptional we are.
