This isn't even her first foray into nuttiness apparently.  Actually, this is even pretty tame compared to other things she believes.  How does she keep her medical license?

Maybe she’s spirit fucking the head of the medical licensing board... you know, Casper-style, or givin’ the ole ghostly gooch grind, scooby’s unmasking, the poltergeist pile-driver, the sixth sensual massage, or just the plain old Ghost Rider.

And if have to ask about any of those positions or acts... then you probably can’t afford it.

So it's your contention that the FDA is wrong in cautioning against HCQ prescription for CV19 because of concerns related to abnormal heart rhythms?

Nothing to see here?

I'm well aware.  Yale epidemiologist Harvey Risch MD PhD spoke to this in his recent article in Newsweek.

Quote

Third, concerns have been raised by the FDA and others about risks of cardiac arrhythmia, especially when hydroxychloroquine is given in combination with azithromycin. The FDA based its comments on data in its FDA Adverse Event Reporting System. This reporting system captured up to a thousand cases of arrhythmias attributed to hydroxychloroquine use. In fact, the number is likely higher than that, since the reporting system, which requires physicians or patients to initiate contact with the FDA, appreciably undercounts drug side effects.

But what the FDA did not announce is that these adverse events were generated from tens of millions of patient uses of hydroxychloroquine for long periods of time, often for the chronic treatment of lupus or rheumatoid arthritis. Even if the true rates of arrhythmia are ten-fold higher than those reported, the harms would be minuscule compared to the mortality occurring right now in inadequately treated high-risk COVID-19 patients. This fact is proven by an Oxford University study of more than 320,000 older patients taking both hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin, who had arrhythmia excess death rates of less than 9/100,000 users, as I discuss in my May 27 paper cited above. A new paper in the American Journal of Medicine by established cardiologists around the world fully agrees with this.

Read the whole damn article.  Don't expect to find anything about demon seed.

78% of COVID-19 patients show signs of heart damage after recovery
Michael Walter | July 27, 2020 | Cardiovascular Imaging

Cardiac involvement and myocardial inflammation are common in recovered COVID-19 patients, according to a new study published in JAMA Cardiology.

The authors studied cardiac imaging results of 100 adult patients included in the University Hospital Frankfurt COVID-19 Registry. All patients had confirmed cases of COVID-19 but passed a swab test after at least two weeks in isolation. They were recruited for this analysis between April to June 2020.

The team tracked patients who had experienced a wide variety of outcomes after their diagnosis. Just two of the 100 patients had to undergo mechanical ventilation, for example, and oxygen supplementation was required in 28 patients.

All participants underwent cardiac MR imaging using “standardized and unified” protocols on 3T MRI scanners. The cohort was compared with 50 healthy control patients and 57 risk factor-matched patients.

Overall, the team found that 78 patients had abnormal imaging findings. Findings included raised myocardial native T1 (73 patients), raised myocardial native T2 (60 patients), myocardial late gadolinium enhancement (32 patients) and pericardial enhancement (22 patients). Three patients underwent a biopsy after severe abnormalities were detected; “active lymphocytic inflammation” was present in these patients, but “no evidence of any viral genome.”

“The results of our study provide important insights into the prevalence of cardiovascular involvement in the early convalescent stage,” wrote lead author Valentina O. Puntmann, MD, PhD, University Hospital Frankfurt in Germany, and colleagues. “Our findings demonstrate that participants with a relative paucity of preexisting cardiovascular condition and with mostly home-based recovery had frequent cardiac inflammatory involvement, which was similar to the hospitalized subgroup with regards to severity and extent. Our observations are concordant with early case reports in hospitalized patients showing a frequent presence of late gadolinium enhancement, diffuse inflammatory involvement, and significant rise of troponin T levels.”

In addition, the team wrote, cardiac involvement appears to occur independent of the severity of the original COVID-19 infection. Additional research with a larger cohort is necessary, they added.

The full study from JAMA Cardiology is available here.

I cannot pretend to understand the terms such as "myocardial native T1"  in that summary.  Perhaps one of our medial field folks can translate some of that for us.

At least 350 around Katy, evidently, and reporting zero deaths.  Somebody show she's lying or hiding even one patient dying of heart block and it's open and shut.  I'll hang up and listen.

While there are likely undiagnosed cases, she is supposedly a doctor who would both make a diagnosis and send it to the appropriate officials so that it be counted as a case.

Katy has 250 total cases of all ages, but let's take a deeper dive.

Fort Bend County has 6530 total cases.  8% or, 534, of Ft Bend County cases are 18 and under.

Harris County has 66195 total cases.  Roughly 9,000 are aged 19 and under.

Waller County has 349 total cases.  Let's say they're all kids.  Can't find the percentage.

A quick zocdoc search shows 164 pediatricians in Houston.  There are more than that when it comes to specialists and practice groups.  Anyway, if we split up every pediatric case in Harris, Fort Bend, and Waller Counties equally, that's 60 covid patients per doctor.  This also excludes all the pediatricians in Fort Bend and Waller Counties who would bring that number down if they were added.  And it also assumes that every pediatric case actually received medical attention even though we already know that the majority do not.  And it assumes that people aren't choosy with their pediatrician, even though Houston has some of the finest in the world.

TL:DR.  She's a liar.  There's no way she saw 350 covid patients.

An Arkansas senator who shared an article that described the coronavirus pandemic as a “hoax” has contracted Covid-19.

Republican senator Jason Rapert, who unsuccessfully introduced a bill to ban gay marriage in the US in 2017, was hospitalised with coronavirus and pneumonia on 24 July.

Earlier in the year, as many states were beginning to take social distancing measures to attempt to control the spread of the virus, Mr Rapert shared an article on Facebook that called the pandemic the “biggest political hoax in history”.

He has been critical of policies taken to stop the spread of Covid-19 in various social media posts over the last few months and was filmed last week not wearing a face mask at a church service, according to Raw Story

EMAW was my number one dumb, but I'm not sure even he can top "prove the witch doctor has killed any of the 350 patients she says she's treated" in stupidity. I'd love to see him give it his best shot, though.

First, I'm not propping up this doc.  Never heard of her until yesterday and watching her lose it in that outside interview made me cringe.  But I don't think she's lying.  In listening to her rant, I did pick up that she said what sounded like sick Covid patients are coming to her from the greater Houston area outside of Katy.  Traveling less than 30 miles to see a physician for specialized treatment is pretty ordinary.  So i wouldn't call her a liar based off of a comparison to absolute caseload of Katy proper.

She's brought a national spotlight on herself, so I expect the digging to proceed at full steam ahead.  We'll know soon enough if she's a fraud or just a truthful well intentioned doctor who still has some cultural beliefs that carry over from her life being raised in Nigeria.  A lot of physicians have different religious beliefs, some consider it magical thinking, but that doesn't influence their telling the truth and helping people to the best of their ability.

Guys, we're living in an officially declared "Red Zone" apparently, and I put this quick map together to illustrate the US.

Red.jpg

As Trump called on states to reopen, a federal report urged 21 ‘red zone’ states to impose more restrictions.
A new federal report found that the number of states with outbreaks serious enough to place them in the “red zone” had grown to 21, and urged officials in them to impose more restrictions.

The 21 states now in the “red zone” — Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Wisconsin — were placed there because they had more than 100 new cases per 100,000 people in the past week. Three more states were added to the most serious category since a similar report dated July 14: Missouri, North Dakota and Wisconsin.

The findings in the new report, which contained profiles of each state, were sent to state officials by the White House Coronavirus Task Force and obtained by The New York Times.

The report, which was dated July 26, recommended more restrictions be put in place in “red zone” states. But on Monday, a day later, President Trump called for more states to reopen.

“A lot of the governors should be opening up states that they’re not opening, and we’ll see what happens with them,” Mr. Trumps said during a visit to North Carolina — one of the states in the red zone.

The report recommended that North Carolina “close establishments where social distancing and mask use cannot occur, such as bars” and “limit indoor dining to less than 25% of normal capacity.” It made similar recommendations for other hard-hit states, calling for reducing the occupancy of other businesses, closing gyms, and urging people to scale back their public interactions and activities to a quarter of what they normally are.

Mask mandates were consistently recommended for states and cities where the virus is spreading. Noting that Arizona, included in the red zone, had seen cases level off in recent days, the report credited its “aggressive mitigation efforts of mask wearing, social distancing and closing bars.”

But some governors continue to be resistant. When Dr. Deborah L. Birx, the Trump administration’s coronavirus response coordinator, visited Tennessee on Monday, she spoke with Gov. Bill Lee, a Republican, about mask mandates, but he was loath to issue a statewide order. “We talked about statewide mandates, we also talked about alternative approaches,” he said afterward.

The report put it more bluntly: “Statewide mask mandate is critical to stop the spread.”

Currently, Vermont is the only state in the “green zone” category for cases, with less than 10 cases a week per 100,000 people. The remaining 28 states and the District of Columbia were placed in the “yellow zone.” The report considers some hard-hit local areas in those states to be in the “red zone” as well.

Dr. Stella Immaniel's ministry has some great videos. Here's a sampling:

- Prayer Against the Strongman
- Deliverance From Family Line Witchcraft (already linked)
- Deliverance from Spirit Husband's and Wives (part 2)
- Week three! Prayer Against Witchcraft
- Prayer Against Familiar Spirit
- Deliverance from Marine spirits

I would say that Paula White, Trump's current spiritual advisor should look out, but come on. He's not dropping this for Dr. Stella.

Why do we even care about the 350 number?  Even if you take her at her word, no deaths over an n of 350 for a virus with a mortality rate of this one is not special in any way.  When you take into account what type of patients would go to a strip center witch doctor for medical treatment, it should be almost expected.

First, if she is prescribing HCQ to kids that are not covid positive or to kids that are positive but asymptomatic as a prophylactic, she is committing malpractice.

Second, even if we assume that her patients are faring well, per the Texas covid dashboard, only 8 kids have died in Texas of covid.  But let's call it 25 because I'm sure some were counted incorrectly.  Either way, the fact that her patients are faring well doesn't mean her treatment is working.  Children handle the virus much better than adults.  The GOP quack docs need to get their stories straight.  If "kids don't get sick" then you certainly don't need to force feed them HCQ.

Third, if she saw 350 children with the virus, told them she cured them, and that they didn't need to wear masks or social distance, I'd be interested in seeing the case rate and mortality rate of the adult family and friends of these children.  She is likely directly responsible for some deaths.

Since I can't say this in the CFB thread, I just want to say, Fuck Trump, and Fuck Every Republican for downplaying this shit for the sake of "economy" and now there's no way it can be contained before the college football season. If we had spent $2 trillion or whatever was available to crush this thing (paying people to shelter in place, massive testing initiative, contract tracing, etc.) we might be able to return to some sort of normalcy, or it would at least be contained enough to play college sports. I'm just sick of this shit. My alma mater has its best team in years, and it's all gone. Fuck trump and fuck you if you support him.

Social media is the National Enquirer of today.

I’m a bit more optimistic than most on this thread I guess. I think the social media misinformation pain is largely temporary. We’re still pretty new at dealing with it and it’s largely an issue of critically evaluating sources like this. How many people critically evaluated Cronkite? Is that a reflection of how good the media was or how naive our culture was to issues of reliability? Or some of both?

Misinformation is with us to stay, but eventually our culture will get better at coping with it, as we have with previous developments. The ship has largely sailed for many older people, but younger generations that grow up dealing with this in their interpersonal relationships as well as the news will become better at intuitively evaluating sources.

After weeks and weeks of the reading HCQ studies, articles and anecdotal reports I’ve reached these conclusions:
If you take it it probably won’t kill you
If you take it for COVID it probably won’t help you.

My dad's cardiologist told him the same thing when he asked about it after his covid diagnosis.  He's been taking it, but 2 weeks in and he's still got it.
