Looks like a lot of anti mask trumpkins at the FC game tonight.

I was downtown earlier this week, and a bus with the FC players had a fucking police escort through some stop lights along Cesar Chavez while heading towards Mopac.  At first I thought it was some government bigwig or something, but then here comes the bust.

I'm guessing they were coming from the airport, but why the fuck do they deserve that kind of escort?

Am I missing something?

Fuck, give Willie Nelson's bus that kind of escort, but not Austin FC.  99.9% of Austin couldn't pick even two of those fuckers out of a lineup.

Trump's legacy will be the death of tens of thousands of his supporters even though he was one of the first to receive the vaccine.

That’s a huge swath of stupid.

Not real sure where to discuss this, but seeing Kellen Mond give Covid to the Vikings QB room seems about right. I think Mike Zimmer was appropriately pissed about his players not believing science. He had some pretty direct comments about unvaccinated players on the roster.

Which raises a question that’s been bugging me as delta ramps up. Why the fuck do we not have home based rapid antigen tests in every house in America by now.
COVID tests in every house? Sounds a lot like a mandate to me... we don't do those here. Wheelchair-bound governor out front shoulda told you.

Jesus fuck. Stop making this political. Please? We are just a website and can’t do a lot but the national conversation has to change.

my entire family, and extended family is vaxxed. We run the gamut on the political spectrum. Just stop. The more people make it about a political choice the more the fucking idiots will dig in their heels.

i mean I kind of agree that it’s great fun to laugh at the idiots but in the meantime we are losing the war. The last laugh on this doesn’t look that good.

Nope. Nobody like my mom who is a docent for Haven For Hope in San Antonio. You are part of the problem. Your failure to identify good from the bad because of your politics should exclude you from any conversation going forward. Don’t you have a big10 board to go post on?

Check the thread title. Also, the people refusing to get the shot voted for Trump. That’s a fact.

Oh I get what forum I am posting in and I didn’t mean everyone needs to stop the political nonsense on this thread. But framing the vax/no vax around political ideology is what got us here and it needs to stop. I’m not sure how much more I can dumb it down for you to understand it.

Idiot. Acknowledging facts and reality isn’t political. The reality is that there is a direct correlation between support for Trump and vaccine resistance. It’s not political to remember that on Feb. 28 of last year Trump was declaring at one of his fascist-style rallies that the Coronavirus was a hoax perpetrated by the Democrats.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1145721

We could spend a long time just compiling video and audio documentation of Trump’s lies, mixed messaging, denial, and incompetence regarding the pandemic, the availability of testing, the effectiveness of wearing masks, bogus treatments like hydroxychloriquine, the possibility of injecting disinfectant into the human body, etc. He and his idiot son were still declaring a week before the election that talk of the virus would disappear on Nov. 4. Have you heard the recordings of Trump’s interviews with Bob Woodward? This isn’t political. It’s part of the historical record just like Lincoln freeing the slaves, delivering the Gettysburg address, winning the Civil War and saving the Union, and getting assassinated by right-wing assholes waving the Confederate flag (something that always indicates you’re on the wrong side).

It’s not political to acknowledge reality. Unless you’re a Republican these days. The reality is that Dr. Anthony Fauci and his wife, AND HIS CHILDREN, are getting 24-hr police protection because of credible death threats made against them by Trump supporters all because he had the nerve to try to speak truth to the American public in contradiction to Trump’s reality tv show approach to running his presidency.

So kindly shut the fuck up.

I guess I wasn’t clear. I’m “yelling” at everyone. Mostly the dumbasses in the Republican base. But that back and forth accomplishes nothing.

instead of tweets like that maybe beat them over the head with the science. I mean I know that won’t actually work but let’s try something other than what we are doing which isn’t working?

Where in your rambling bullshit did you convince yourself that my mom voted forTrump? Next time read what you are responding to.

Also have fun in the big10.

I don’t disagree, but we’ve beaten them over the head with science for over a year. It clearly doesn’t work.

In between science and the public is a lot of static. Ignoring foreign interference, there have been hundreds of armchair "advisors" who made pronouncements with the air of confidence and authority that rendered them believable. That did not help. Some polling I saw last night indicated that the vaccine mandates enacted by private sector employers and others were not as off putting to some as one would think, perhaps because it gives the reluctant some cover if they are mainly making a 'political' decision.

Yeah I know. I guess I’m going for the perfect world where there is one message that gets out to the public. So I guess I’d like to be more like N. Korea is what I’m advocating for 🤪😂

These fuckers don't believe in science, much less actually believing it's Covid just before the ventilator is attached.  They are going to hospitals to their eventual deaths believing it's something else that is making them ill.

You can't convince the unwilling with facts.

You cannot convince them because they are brainwashed. Science doesn't work. Begging doesn't work. Shaming doesn't work. Seeing your own chest x-ray prior to intubation doesn't work. I don't know what will.

No covered ICU beds in central Austin as of 7:15AM this morning. 🙃

This is kind of where I was going. Thank you. I think. “Them” is roughly 35% of our population. 70ish% of those are Republicans. 100% are idiots. Forgive me for not looking up the real numbers.

Regardless the other real problem we have is the rest of the world which I think is a little less than 10% vaccinated. I haven’t heard any talk of shutting our borders down, so here we are. Y’all scream at political parties all you like.

I come from a medical family and also married into one, so it’s extra nuts to me. I try to remind myself that most people have a distrust of the medical community, for whatever reason.

Probably has quite a lot to do with the predatory pricing and cost model in American medicine.

Maybe. But still why the fuck don’t we have rapid test cassettes nearly 18 months into this shit. IIRC the tech was coming along early last year.

Did you come in to the political thread to chide about politics except for dirty immigrant, errrrr border policy talk?

The younger kid side of my daughter's camp was closed early. They're separated from the older kids. 25 staff members tested positive. All unvaxxed except one. College aged counselors that were going offsite on their one day off a week and bringing it back most likely.

This is a camp where you're living outside for two weeks. The spread should be lovely in the schools.

All four sessions of Camp Texas (camp for incoming freshman Longhorns) were cancelled last night less than 12 hours before the first session was supposed to begin due to an outbreak at the campsite. A bunch of the kids were already in town too.
This all is going to get so fucking messy.

No, I told him why he was negging me but I was polite and phrased it as a question. So I’ll do you the same courtesy, is it an immigration/border policy issue if the virus is mutating in other parts of the world and we allow international air travel?

Man that's gotta such a blow for the whole CT team. They work all year preparing for their three days, I can only imagine how disappointed they must be.

To be clear @WhatTheBuckyou are negging me because you think the vaccine issue should be a political one?

It’s not a political one. There’s only one party making it a political issue. And when did I ever say your mom voted for Trump? What the fuck is wrong with you? I don’t even know what you’re talking about with that allegation. If you’re saying you’re mom is against getting vaccinated but doesn’t support Trump then she’s just a run-of-the-mill moron. It doesn’t change the fact that there’s a statistical correlation between Trump supporters and anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, and people who are anti-science in general.

You negged my reply within a few seconds after I posted it. Well before you had time to read it. You know that. I know that. You’re a dishonest actor.

Just asking questions!

Nah all good. My point that flew over his head is we can have 100% of our population vaccinated, but a mutation can happen elsewhere in the world and we are right back here like we are with Delta. I don’t give a shit about y’alls argument over the border and immigration. Hook ‘em.
