Damn, guess getting regulated to low-tier college football has your panties in a wad.  It's okay, sweetheart, I'm sure Baylor, SWT, and NM State will keep you and your ilk warm at night.  Losers.

Bring back The Border Conference!

I have put zero thought into the math, but I don't think there's any chance in hell that 3rd-shot "first timers" will skew the vaccination statistics enough to cause any policy shift.
I'm 3 months out from Moderna #2, so I'm content for now, but in a couple of months you'd better believe I'm lining up for Pfizer #1 in the left arm, flu shot in my right, and shingles vax in my ass just for the hell of it.  (OK, not just for the hell of it, I've already had shingles once and I'm not interested in getting it again.)

Shingles vax is the next one on my list. Wanted to get through summer vacations first since I’ve heard it can knock you on your ass.

Will probably go get it in a couple of weeks (unless COVID boosters get approvals first).

slorch tends to have these little episodes every month. He's good for a bit and then goes off the rails because of those damn libs. It's like male PMS.

He really does. He’s normal for a little while then, wham. Shit like this. Maybe he’s bipolar or something.

I think a couple thousand people getting a 3rd shot booster that looks like a 1st shot in the stats is fine, but if bunches of people do it, does that start to give medical/political leaders a false sense of security that vaccination rates are high enough to lower restrictions, when it wouldn't be prudent to do so?

I think it is best to raise the issue of inaccurate numbers so those numbers can be sorted out for useful data.

I had the shingles vax right before Covid started.  That vaccine fucked me up (both times).

I don't know if you've had shingles, but when I did, I resisted asking my doc for a narcotic painkiller because I know I tend to get a little too comfortable with feeling all golden and shit.

That lasted a day or so.

Then I got the Rx, and I stared at the bottle of pills for 3 days without taking one.  Never did.  The pain subsided and I . . . well, let's just say someone else took advantage of my chemical largesse.

Dude, I know you have. You've mentioned it multiple times, and I applaud you for it and never said I "cared more" than you. What gives, man? Something got up your ass today and it shows (looks painful to be quite honest). What caused you to come in here and fly off the handle to chastise a crowd that you generally agree with on the topic of vaccination? I just don't get that point.

What you and the rest of Techlandia need to be doing right now is posting different versions of this all over the internet until we get an invite:

Once their Left Coast asses make it out on the South Plains, then you can show your true colors and wreck'em.

Compassion is defined as what?

My initial response this morning was a shot at emotional responses either way towards being vaccinated and being giddy or conversely having some sense if defeat.  I say they are both misplaced.

Taking the vaccine is a personal choice. Nothing more. Nothing less. Lotsa backslapping and fart smelling going on with folks who seem to think they achieved some monumental contribution to society.

The discussion itself is eaten up/ overrun with dogmatic reactions on both sides.  It’s just s shot.

Mindblown, I know. I’ve had my childhood vaccinations 3 times each, between adoption and the military.  I’m a fucking superhero…or not.

Slorch is not exceptional, right?   Neither is getting a shot.

So you took a shot at people because they were giddy they could see their elderly loved ones again? Why would you do that?

Taking the vaccine is not purely a personal choice. It has societal impacts, like the ones people have given you about why they were giddy. So either you’re having trouble reading or you are a douchebag who simply cannot understand others having compassion.

Literally no one has claimed getting a vaccine makes you a super hero. It should be a basic of living within a society.

Nothing that you’ve said explains your derision for people being happy about getting a vaccine. There are literally a million possible reasons for someone to be giddy about it. You apparently can only think things in team sports, and lack basic compassion apparently.

I dunno man, maybe you’re having a bad day, maybe you’re a douche bag, maybe you’re an idiot.

I bet there are some people in less fortunate countries that would be absolutely giddy about having the opportunity to get the vaccine

That's not how this works.  How it works is 100ks of doses are expiring in cooler in pharmacies all over the country.

Not sure how that relates to my post. My point was that there are plenty of reasons to be happy about getting vaccinated, and that there are plenty of people in this world that would relish the opportunity

I'll take "Who are the people most likely to shoot themselves should they ever clean a gun?" Alex.
I'm astounded that in this day and age, with all the options for entertainment and diversion, that so many are so bored, they are left to humping guns, cosplaying cops, and going to rallys where a crazy old man repeats a bunch of false bullshit.

It's nuts. Find a less deadly hobby, go get laid, read a book, travel.

Speaking as a Tech grad of about the same age as Slorch myself (50), I'm not going to let him speak for all Techsters. I take this shit seriously...very...and am back to wearing a mask everywhere including sitting at my desk all day. I'm proudly vaccinated (March Moderna Mafia) and encourage everyone who can to do so and am eagerly awaiting a booster.
Now, some Tech grads such as my dad may have been careless, but he paid the ultimate price for it. Same could be said of many, many Texas Exes based off what we see over at the Daily Texan, so this isn't simply a matter of schoolin'.
I can also tell you I'm not alone. My Tech grad mom is already hoping to get her booster and has tried to convince many of her elderly Baptist church community friends to get vaxxed. My Tech grad sister pleaded with the attendees at my dad's memorial service a couple of weeks ago to get vaccinated. So did I. My Tech grad Uncle Bob (mom's brother), his Tech grad wife, Eileen, and their three Tech grad children (all older than me) Kate, Brian, and Phyllis, who also attended were fully vaccinated and kept their masks handy in their pockets during the entire visit.
As far as I can tell, some people just have to play the contrarian asshole for whatever boost it gives their egos. Get your shit together, slorch. You're making the rest of us look bad, and we desperately need that Pac-12 invite. You just know that Sbbruin is gonna print out this page, and send it to Pac HQs. Then, you'll really be sorry.

Yo my man, it was a cheap shot at a shitty poster. I actually have respect for Tech and soft spot for West Texas and a shit load of family that attended there, most of whom are great people. Some are even really smart.

There are dumbfucks at all schools, but there are even a few cool Aggies out there.

Holy shit, dude.  Take a fucking break.  The vaccine is absolutely NOT a personal choice.  Getting the vaccine, if you are eligible to, is your goddamned duty as a fucking citizen/resident of this country.  Fuck anyone who doesn't understand that.  Your right to choose ends where your choice starts impacting others.  Freedom is not infinite, and there are a lot of fucksticks in this country that need to understand that.

It’s likely because slorch secretly hates the fact that he doesn’t like women and stories about lesbians. Hence the quick thread derail and subject change.

Yup I'm turning 50 this year, I'll be in line for the shingles jab too.  I have heard enough stories to know that shingles is a DO NOT WANT situation.

I got shingles at 34 and the shingles shot at 50. That shingles double vax was a fuck ton worse than the covid double vax.

Well, I might've figured out where my dipshit BIL got the "mark of the beast" argument.

https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/02/politics/kfile-rnc-peter-feaman-covid-19-vaccine/index.html

Quote

(CNN)Amid recent surging coronavirus cases in Florida, a top Republican National Committee official in the state has spread anti-vaccine rhetoric and misinformation, comparing the Biden administration's vaccine efforts to Nazi-era "brown shirts," and twice calling the vaccines "the mark of the beast," comparable to a "false god."

A review by CNN's KFile found that Peter Feaman, a lawyer and RNC committeeman from Florida made the comments on his blog the "The Backhoe Chronicles," which he publishes regularly in a private group on MeWe. The social media platform bills itself as the "anti-Facebook" app.

"The Biden brown shirts are beginning to show up at private homes questioning vaccine papers," Feaman wrote on July 20, incorrectly implying government officials would be showing up at people's homes to question their vaccination status, comparing them to the Nazi Party paramilitary wing.

Previously, he supported far-right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who used the term and faced swift backlash.

In May, Feaman called Covid-19 vaccines a "mark of the beast" -- a reference to a symbol from the biblical Book of Revelations showing allegiance to Satan -- and called Michigan Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer "diabolical" for encouraging vaccines. "Diabolical Michigan Governor Whiter wants her citizens to get the Mark of the Beast to participate in society," Feaman wrote.

"Now the Michigan Democrat has announced that she is going to prolong the state's suffering until residents submit to getting 'the jab' and if enough of them comply with her demands, then she and Joe Biden might permit them to celebrate Fourth of July," he added, seemingly referencing the Biden administration's goal to have 70% of the US adult population with at least one dose of the vaccine by that holiday. (The goal was not met.)

He later added, "Hey Whitmer, we will not bow to your false god."

CNN reached out to Feaman and the RNC for comment multiple times but neither responded.

Feaman is one of three officials representing Florida in the governing body of the RNC, the political committee which leads the Republican Party. He has served in the position since 2012.

His reelection to the position in 2020 at an annual Florida Republican Party meeting was supported by state party chairman Joe Gruters, and he was previously appointed to nomination commissions for state and federal judges by Sen. Marco Rubio and then-Florida Gov. Rick Scott. He also served as an elector in the 2016 and 2020 presidential election.

On Sunday, Florida broke its record for coronavirus hospitalizations just one day after the state recorded the most new daily Covid-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

On Thursday, Feaman attacked new US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance suggesting wearing masks indoors in places with high rates of Delta variant transmission.

"The wolves want control and power," he wrote. "As for me and my house--we will fight them."

In addition to peddling medical misinformation, Feaman spread conspiracy theories. Feaman pushed the falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, peddled Capitol insurrection conspiracies suggesting that the January 6 insurrection was a "set up to make the Trump folks look bad" and implied the event was a "false flag" operation carried about by Democrats to seize power.

In another post from February, Feaman shared an article by conservative talk show host Dennis Prager in which the author compared Democrats' actions after the Capitol insurrection to Nazis who used the Reichstag fire as a means to seize power in 1933.

"What the left is doing in demonizing conservatives and Trump supporters exactly follows what the Nazis did in 1933," Feaman wrote on MeWe, but said Trump supporters were "not afraid," adding, "Unlike in Germany in 1933, they have guns."

In addition to his blog, Feaman also wrote two books — "Wake Up, America!" in 2007 and "The Next Nightmare: How Political Correctness Will Destroy America" in 2012 — that claimed "Islamofascism" was the greatest threat to Judeo-Christian values and the United States.

One of the books appears to feature a doctored blurb from The New York Times Book Review. At the top of the front cover of "Wake Up, America!", a blurb reads: "'Wake Up, America! presents a compelling argument Americans cannot take for granted--that the world of today will not necessarily exist tomorrow.—'as seen in The New York Times Book Review." A similar blurb exists on its Amazon book page.

A spokesperson for the Times confirmed that the publication did not publish a review or cover the title in any way and said they were reviewing the unauthorized use of the Times' name on the book.

What if the financial cost of not getting vaccinated were just too high, you know for the laughs?
I think a number of us have said this should happen, and I imagine it will once full FDA authorization occurs. Hell, I think an insurer should be able to not insure your ass if you haven't gotten the vaccine, or not cover COVID related costs if you haven't gotten the vaccine.
