A helicopter crashed and burst into flames Sunday morning amid foggy conditions in the hills above Calabasas, with some fatalities reported.

The crash occurred shortly before 10 a.m. near Las Virgenes Road, south of Agoura Road, according to a watch commander for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash ignited a brush fire and made it difficult for firefighters and emergency personnel to get to the aircraft, he said. Sources at the scene said they believed there were multiple fatalities, but the exact number was unclear.

The fire was contained to the crash site, officials said. There were no homes in the area, and no roadways were impacted.

The Los Angeles Times, slightly more reputable than TMZ, reports the helicopters crashed and fatalities, but no mention of Bryant.  Then again, they're probably adhering to the Holly Rule, no mentions of names until family is first notified.  RIP to all, terribly way to go.

TMZ while trashed...is right a hell of a lot more times than wrong in these types of high profile stories

Not on ESPN yet, source?

NBATV is playing last night's Laker game. When I flipped over to see if they were carrying anything about it, they flashed a tweet from Kobe congratulating Lebron for passing him on the all-time scoring list. Very eerie!

So you’re saying it was LBJ?
