Bloody socialism is what this is!

The question is,  was Gil Bang actually going into the grocery store and buying those feminine products or paying someone to do his dirty work ?

I was married for a very long time, so buying tampons wasn’t a big deal.

IIRC, I asked a lady friend for a recommendation for a brand and type that any woman would welcome in a pinch, even if it wasn’t her usual preference.

I live with a woman now, but even when I was single and living alone, there was a basket in my guest bathroom.  It contained a couple of new toothbrushes and a small toothpaste, a contact lens case and a small solution, a package of q tips, and yes, a few tampons.   We have a similar setup in the guest suite here now.

I considered it a "just in case" for any guests...mainly for "I've had too much wine and need to crash here" guests, but whatever, it was there for all to see.

Nobody else does that?

Do it, as well. I just thought it was part of being mindful towards guests and their needs. It was/is how many/most Texans were raised - to be respectful and hospitable to guests.

As for buying tampons and mini pads - that is absolutely not embarrassing to buy as a male. Just do it if you don't already.

Final advice - always keep a plunger in the bathroom when you have a guest.

There's the trick and trap. Your marriage was doomed the day you kow towed to buying them...

Not very common at all and if they are present they’re either always empty because no one ever restocks, if they do have product they’re sort of sketchy and the items look like they’ve been in the machine for seven years, or the dispensers have been trashed or vandalized.

And, yes, Gil Bang is a very thoughtful host.

That has been my experience as well.

Back when I spent a number of years volunteering with the middle school athletic XC/TF teams I used to keep a supply of pads in my car. Many young ladies have not gotten used to carrying supplies and their cycles are unpredictable. Being able to console a mortified and frantic teenager in the middle of a long run or at a track meet with a "Hey, can happen to anyone and let's figure out what to do," went a long way toward resolving my own angsty memories of those years. It's also a topic that some of the male coaches were rather obviously not very comfortable discussing. So you all are pretty cool.

I just did the math and realized my eldest daughter will be starting her period at the same time my wife starts menopause.

It's still a ways off, but I'm gonna start drinking now to be on the safe side.

Tbh, it is a great time to be a dad even if it does not seem that way at first. (You probably know this already). Our oldest is a girl and about that age is when my husband and I began to make sure that the two of them spent time out and about together more than just the kid stuff they used to do or do with a sibling. They would go have lunch on a Saturday, or run an errand to the mall and he would listen to her. For all I know, it was a venting session about her relationship with me, but I never asked because that was irrelevant to the purpose which was to be about them and specifically their relationship. (To be fair, if she had a legitimate gripe/concern with mom he would talk with me about it later) It is so invaluable because sometimes she and I would be in one of those 'clashes' and it diffused some of the teenage highs and lows. My hat is off to single parents because when you are in the middle of it, it is so hard to see the adult they are becoming some days. But two steps forward one step back is still progress my late granny used to say. We all made it through and we are proud of the adult she has become.

The bolded part belongs on the recruiting board
