i want a mix of good long term value, with the ability to short term gamble every once in awhile.

AAPL was a good buy prior to earnings as its price had been fairly stagnant over the past few months. Considering their great quarter, the fact that it’s Apple, and the dip due to market craziness, I don’t think you can go wrong here. It may drop a bit more as overall market nerves continue to get rattled but it will make you some money over the next few months and definitely long term.

Most definitely not a stonk.

i have no idea what a model of value is.

i want a mix of good long term value, with the ability to short term gamble every once in awhile. i have limited funds, unless gme goes nuclear. i will basically be starting with ~$700, so i'd like to juice that a little bit, but safely, but i would also like to build (over time, obviously) a portfolio that takes into account long, medium and short term opportunities.

does that make sense?

edit to add: i'm a 42 year old corporate worker with a 401k that is way under value because i blew it up in 2019 to pay off all my credit card debt. so basically, i'd like to retire at the normal age, and this would be my best chance to do so. i plan on adding cash to my etrade incrementally, but basically, i'd love to make smart investments while also messing around with ranger's penny stocks and the like.

Take 7/8ths of what you have and buy VOO(Vanguards S&P 500 etf) you get 2% dividends and extremely low fees.

Become close friends with Ranger and follow his advice with the other 1/8th.

Reddit is now cornering the silver market.  They're going after the KC Chiefs next!
No they're not. Hedge funds are trying to make it look like silver is the next squeeze because they're heavily invested and need to cover their massive losses. Spend any amount of time on reddit and you'll see they're not in on this one

The meme's and shit posting this is generating across the internet has been worth consolidating imo. Tack it on to the GME article thread and focus convo  around the short squeeze actions there? Doesn't feel right to take a convo on penny stocks with future promise in battery recycling and have it littered with occasional YOLO bro's memes.

Let other stonks get talked about here that aren't part of the BANG gang (BB, AMC, NOK, GME).

I don't think there is really that much being liquidated. Melvin is dumping assets one way or another, but they only have to do that because of their reckless bet. Everybody else can sit and watch with amusement. Melvin may be selling a few $billion, but that is chump change in the overall scheme of things.

Per Goldman, everyone is dumping.  Last week was the "biggest delevering event" since 2009.  Long-short funds can have positions worth more than 100% on their books.  They needed to trim both that off.

The WSB'ers in his mentions aren't buying it - counterfeit shares, no way the shorts could all cover on the low volume last Friday, etc.  They loved him when he was posting about high S3 SI%, but now it's all a bunch of baloney - although tagging CNBC in his tweet probably has them pretty triggered as well.  I'm not educated enough on the subject to know how Ihor arrives at his numbers and if they are legit or not.

i accidentally sold amc for a profit at $17.25. i apparently do not know how to structure a limit order. i bought ~15, and i figured i would want to sell at a loss if it went below $11. i guess i said sell if it is above 11? i dunno but i made some (very little) money.

Yea, limit sell and stop loss are different. I accidentally did the same with Doge at like 2am a couple nights ago not reading well, was at 0.79 when it sold though so blessing in disguise.

Doc?

fair point though. This intraday trading is probably 95% hedge funds dueling longs/shorts. Market Open and Close are retail plebes buying what little they can for the day.

Whole bunch of those first reported shorts got covered thursday when it dipped sub 200.

I’ve done that before. More than once actually.

It was a good start to the year as the portfolio was up 20.3% in January.  The goal in 2021 is to double the value of the account.  Looking for AMYZF to get funding to build a full scale lithium battery recycling facility which can shoot the stock to double digits this year.  Re: UUUU, I took an initial position at 3.52 and have a gtc order to triple that position at 3.63.  I think it finishes the year between 8-10 and that's probably conservative.  The stock should have a multi-year run.  NK has numerous drug research studies in various stages of completion and I expect then to hit on at least one this year which will double today's stock price.  Finally, historically, February in a post-presidential election year is weak.  Look for plenty of volatility this month.

What's the rumored timeline for getting funding to build?

My bonus comes in 3/1, and I'm thinking of going big if it's not too late at that point.

I think you'll be fine as I don't believe it will happen that quickly, but don't get discouraged if the stock continues to climb this month.  Here's what I can tell you re:  AMYZF.  They're testing the cathode reactor to make sure they can close the loop. Once that's been done, the pilot plant optimization is basically completed.  They just need to design a full scale facility with cost estimates and they should be ready to pursue funding. If EV's are going to keep expanding, battery recycling will have to happen.

I’d say even with the recent run that pot stocks have a lot of room To run. Todd is huge cannabis bull but this article explains why.

I think the best way to get exposure for amateurs like us here would be to buy MSOS. It’s an etf with all the biggest US weed producers. They’re mostly OTC stocks so on some platforms they may be unavailable but you can through this etf. Buy some and hold basically. If you want to get into individual names I own gtbif, curlf, crlbf

This is definitely entered into full on "Greater Fool" territory now, I think.

I actually feel bad because the most obvious outcome seems to be that Joe and Sue Reddit actually do lose all their money from Diamond Handsing while rich people make up losses (as well as fake being WSB'ers and pump) and ultimately get out before it crashes.

And if a lot of the everyman poster who likes to write up a screed about how poor they are and work minimum wage but will NEVAR SALE DIAMOND EMOJI are actually using, along with the bottom 50% of society, their $600-2000 stimmy on this, it's only stimulating the 1% who are going to win here and it will be a pass-through from the government to their coffers.

Depressing if you think about it too much.

Sounds like cope bc you missed out.

Just wanted to let yall know I'm not able to come to this thread during work hours on my computer maybe for the foreseeable future

Something somebody posted flagged as a porn url and it reported me to my ITS director. Probably going to have to stay off the rest of the day except on my phone which will be very little. Hopefully they don't monitor me going forward.

Ranger, try installing the Opera browser. It has a free, built-in VPN. My work blocks the best the intertron has to offer, however, I can get to all of it with this setup. I use this exclusively for browsing the Surl. I know my work can't see the traffic because I should get redirected to a page telling me I fucked up when I go someplace I shouldn't. Just remember to clear the history occasionally if you are concerned.

Since it is a free VPN, I'm sure all traffic is routed through some Chinese servers somewhere and they are logging everything, so I wouldn't go to any websites that ask for any personal info or passwords, at least that is my personal policy. The VPN is also great for questionable web searches to avoid targeted ads, just make sure the country of origin is USA or some other English speaking country, because if it is set to a foreign country, then the search results may be in that country's language.

Go here to check where your IP says you are located with the VPN on.
