I think I may have Covid-19 thread - 2 confirmed cases

My youngest daughter (2yo) came down with cold symptoms on Monday and I woke up Tuesday with a scratchy throat.  Started popping zicams and giving her the quick melts for the first day and had doc appt scheduled the following day.  We both tested negative for flu (queue stress, anxiety and fucking panic)  Got in and out with some flonase, antibiotics for both, and steroids.  I've been taking zinc daily since Tuesday morning and outside of a little chest congestion and stuffy sinuses, the worst is past.  The first two days I had lots of anxiety which might have been causing the chest tightness and inability to sleep.  I also quit drinking for 3 days which likely caused the cold sweats I had the first two nights.  The first two days I was really tired and felt like shit, headache, sinuses, ears felt full but throughout the whole thing I didn't run a fever.   Another weird thing is I have only coughed maybe 10 times since Tuesday morning and its always a nasal drainage nasty wet cough.

Doc said there are still Type A flu and common cold cases coming in daily and the common cold is a motherfucker this year.  Said covid19 would be quick oncoming high fever, hoarse dry cough (the bad kind) and I wouldn't have lots of sinus congestion and runny nose like common colds. (covid19 chest vs common being head/chest cold) Its been almost six days and I feel fucking great.

^glad you are feeling better

re: testing positive. Not here. We don't qualify for testing according to the Victoria gov

Doing marginally better today. Maybe say 95%. Still some breathing problems, both me and the wife. No other symptoms. First time for this kind of sickness for us each. Resp only, nothing else. Weird.

Beautiful day down here today. Gonna try to maybe get a bike ride after work. Ya'll be safe out there.

Began feeling bad on Wednesday night.  Running fever by Thursday morning.  Fever ranged from 99-102 Thursday-Saturday.  Mild cough, but I’ve had an on/off cough since Xmas.  Fever finally went away for good today.  Feel much better now, but the last ew days weren’t very fun.  The respiratory element never got that bad, which makes me think it wasn’t Covid, but I’ll be chilling at home for a bit.

Seems pretty similar to mine minus the fever.  Did you have normal head cold symptoms?

Not really.  No headache.  No congestion.  No runny nose or sniffles.  Just the cough. I also couldn’t shit for 3 days, which also leads me to believe it was something else.

When your mind tells your body to do something your body tends to try its best to oblige.  Keep this in mind when you start thinking I'm going to catch this some time or another.

(I'm not saying don't take precautions and I'm not taking a cavalier attitude just for the sake of being an asshole but your mental outlook affects your physiology. If you think I'm full of shit ask a specialist in cancer treatment.)

I took my ex-gf grocery shopping yesterday and she hung out at my apartment for a few hours but we did not even kiss. Today she tells me a customer of hers has had a fever for 6 days and now diarrhea. She asked me if I thought he had it and I said yes.

I have probably been infected.

I've managed to be in two places where there's been positive tests so far, the Intercontinental Miami where the Brazilian entourage was, and the Ft Lauderdale airport, where a TSA agent popped positive. Will be interesting to see if I dodge this the next few days.

I'm know I'm in the wrong place to have anyone care about my well-being, but if you guys could pass around the donation basket to fly a wildly inappropriate banner over my funeral, my family would greatly appreciate it.

"Aggie08 is a doodoo head"?

Will that work? Or you want something about sheep intercourse?

I like it.  I was thinking that I could chip in from my will to have Thujone create an original, banner-worthy piece for the occasion, but, let's be honest, I can't afford him.

I was in the grocery store at lunch picking up a couple of items and the 70 year old woman behind me started coughing and hacking for about 15 seconds.

She was wearing a mask but I have no confidence in one of those masks.

I figure I have two weeks to live. furk.

I was in the cheese and lunch meat area, and some 60ish year old woman leaned over the refrigerated ham case and hacked into her hand before rummaging around for the perfect ham. Then, as she pushed her cart away, she hacked right into her fucking hand again. I headed the opposite direction. No one else was close by.

I haven’t coughed into my hand for decades. It’s always into my elbow, or if I’m wearing something with a T-shirt collar, I’ll lift the collar over my mouf and cough under my shirt.

It’s a world full of damn Neanderthals, and that comes from someone who has between 1-2% Neanderthal DNA.

Anything thats been delivered or purchased and brought into my house has been wiped down with alcohol swabs or sprayed with diluted bleach spray.  Too many idiots out there to trust touching anything coming from stores right now.

Yeah, I am avoiding anti-inflammatories and am taking Zinc lozenges. More of a "just in case" attitude, as I had the Zinc already and am doing fine without the Ibuprofen.

I'm basically taking any suppository that I can get my hands on at this point, just to be safe

I was keeping up with this thread for a while, but it has become pointless now.

Does anybody actually know anybody with THE virus?  Does anybody actually know anybody that knows anybody with the virus?

Makes me wonder how you fuckers get out of bed in the morning...?

Uh, until someone here is actually confirmed to have it, what exactly do you expect from this thread if not poor attempts at levity/humor and people checking in with their current health situation and concerns? Pin it to the top of the forum with no one actually posting in it?

I've been fighting off something low-grade for a while, minor pleghm, just ragged out. Then a week ago I almost fell the fuck out slap in the middle of Morris Avenue in downtown Birmingham. It's bright sunshine, this quaint brick-paved street, and (whoomp) horizon tilts one way, I take a step (whoomp) horizon tilts the other way. Then I kinda get a grip on the horizon, but my feet no longer obey my brain. I manage to shuffle to a fence and sort of sprawl against it with an "I meant to do that" look.

I had spells of low blood pressure as a kid, and it was that "stood up too fast" loopiness, but I gotta say the tilting horizon and foot paralysis was interesting.

I wrote my wife's name and number on my hand in case I keeled over, went to the YMCA, stopping at each street to see if it'd be a good street to pass out in, just in case. At the Y I wanted to see if they had a blood pressure station so I could confirm my suspicions, but the minute I mentioned it one dude acted like I was coding and looked set to deliver me to an Emergency Room full of annoying people and $300 aspirin. I gave em the slip and went to get some food instead.

A nice sandwich and lemonade did the trick. Then I decided to Harden The Fuck Up Australia, so I added about a mile of walking hills to my return route. Felt steady.

Anyway, sort of semi-flu-like, better now than I was then. Figure I'll garden while everything's shut down. The pickaxe and shovel just told me that I'm still on low batteries.

Morris Avenue is a bitch to walk on.  Those bricks suck.

Wife had a friend over on Friday afternoon.  Last night, wife felt crappy.  No fever, no coughing.  Just malaise.  Went to bed at 9:30 and woke up at 10:00 this morning and has still felt crappy all day.  She just got a text from her friend that her and her husband have developed a fever and cough and their doctor told them they probably have it, but because they are not in an at risk group, he wasn't recommending they be tested (yes, I am pissed they are not beating down their doctor's door).

I have no symptoms, but if my wife has it, I probably am right behind her.  Called our doc, he says we should isolate my wife and see if any of us develop symptoms and if we do, we'll get tested.

Felt like I had a sore throat coming on all day yesterday while also feeling light headed.

Made sure to drink a full gallon of water throughout the day, then took some HEB theraflu before bed. While I was waiting for that to kick in, I could feel the body chills/aches coming.  And I know when that happens, I'm getting sick.   Woke up, felt very well. No issues at all today.

One thing I realized I didn't have in the house was a thermometer, so that's what I bought first thing in the morning.  Wish I had it last night, but took my temp this morning and it was normal.

That's what I felt last Wednesday night when I wrote here.  Felt fine the next morning after taking cold medicine.

Hope all is well and South Austin can get better! No sports on the tube sucks too!

I went out this morning to go on a “TP Run” this AM at 6:30. HEB was “open” but NO TP!!!!

Daughter called me yesterday stating that she had a $20 pack of TP at Walmart and wanted to know if I wanted it - YES, so I transfer her some money (broke college student coming home). She gets home and it’s a MFg big dozen count of paper towels! She said that it was in the aisle that TP usually is! Maybe there should be another thread for daughters (no pics), but she’s not the sharpest mentally!

Someone in my household may have probably absolutely done this before.  Shes back from her sisters baby shower, after getting infected and now infecting me (in my mind).  We both feel fine currently, hopefully it continues that way.

Ex called me last night to discuss spring break where I pick my son up from LA this weekend.  Her:  "I just don't think its a good idea if he is travelling, touching stuff....what if he gets quarantined while he's up there and he has to stay longer?  I'LL GO CRAZY!!!!!!"  Yeah you'll go crazy, that's what this is really about.

Also got this bute, which really confirms to me that she truly. cannot. see. beyond. one. level. in any direction.

Me:  You realize that LA has more confirmed cases than Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas combined, right?  All the states that we'll be traveling through?

Her:  That's just from Mardi Gras (which I informed her of 2 weeks ago because she would have never considered that).  I only work with about 10 people in my office and NONE of them went to Mardi Gras!

Me:  So all those 10 people have stayed in that office and had no contact with anyone else for the past 2 weeks, is that what you're telling me?

Her: (confused) No.

Me:  So none of those 10 came in contact with oh I don't know 5 random people in any capacity in Louisiana in the past 2 weeks?

Her: (still confused)

Me:  So you're telling me that none of those 10 could have crossed paths with 5 people / 5 people / 5 people / 5 people / and none of those levels included ANYONE who went to MG?

Her:

She has incredible assets, thinking isn't one of them.

My ex is #1 on that list.

Ex still wants to take the kids to Florida next week to stay at her parents' vacation place.  Her elderly alcoholic parents that undoubtedly have liver issues.

I'm not saying I'm wishing bad things on people, even if they were consistently assholes to me, because I'm mature and have outgrown that stuff.  But sometimes shit might just happen and it's out of my hands ..
