In other news, Dustin McComas is leaving OBs to join an amateur baseball scouting site. He was pretty good at what he did and was probably the only worthwhile contributor from OBs.

He’s been the only reason I go to obloods for years. I have no clue where to get baseball content now.

IT and 247 have beat writers for it (Joe Cook, Jeff Howe), but it's mostly game threads and surface-level analysis (press conference writeups and game summaries)

Anybody know what Texas is losing after this season? I have seen discussions on Twitter but no real clarity.

Everything is weird with the free COVID year last year. I honestly am not sure how many are out of eligibility and who might be draft eligible.

As in, which players?

Antico, Zubia, Stevens, and Petrinsky will be moving on I'm sure.

Ty Madden will become a rich man next month. I think Quintanilla could go decently high as well.

If you had asked me a month and a half ago I would have said Melendez but now I'm not so sure, especially with his vague positional fit.

I think Pete Hansen will be of draftable age but I'm not sure he'll go.

I always thought the Disch was maybe the best stadium in college baseball. Looking at Miss St and Arkansas, nah, the Disch needs massive upgrade.

I was very disappointed when they did the renovation several years ago that they did not tear it down and start over.  I would loved to see an open concourse setup like the Dell Diamond.  They did a good job given that they kept the same basic structure for the grandstands,  but we hamstrung ourselves with that decision.

Who was the guy that sent out the University of Texas at Omaha decals awhile back on Shag? Was it MirrOlure? Pretty sure it started with an M.

Either way, still have mine, thanks to whoever.

I wish…..but not me.

I’m the dude who freaked out in the Big XII Tournament about not planning my late June around watching baseball.

At least I said I’d be “happily pleased” to be doing so!

I'd be pretty surprised if Stevens left, Zubia still has a year left as well and I don't see either going high enough for it to be an easy decision.

Good point, the combination of the draft's machinations and the pandemic wrench thrown in makes it somewhat unclear to me.

I also neglected to mention Austin Todd. There was some talk that he might return.

It's amazing what we've done this year after losing Todd.

I haven’t seen Stevens projected to be drafted high but I think he’s gone.

Occupylf seems confident that Stevens is gone and I think he knows his family. Stevens has been in college for 4 years already and might be ready to move on.

The only 2 players I’ve seen that I think are going to be drafted high are Madden and Melendez.

Maybe Stewart (signee).

I’m surprised there isn’t more buzz with Quintanilla or Cam Williams. I was engaging with somebody on Twitter a few days ago and apparently MLB teams also really like Kubichek. I thought that was interesting.

I wish Antico had been steered our way sooner.  That .260 something BA does not come close to reflecting his value.  He is the heartbeat and engine that drives this team.

That .430 obp doesn’t lie. Add to that that basically every walk ends up with him on second sometime during Daly’s PA and he’s in scoring position ALOT.

Craig Way talked about this on the radio call last night. He entered the last inning of the Kansas series batting the Mendoza line. He hit that three-run shot and hasn't looked back.

I will be stunned if Cam Williams does not get drafted and sign. I will also be very happy, sorry Cam!  Maybe COVID changes his eligibility and outlook too.

He was actually questioned this by Zeke and Zonk in an in-game interview mid season and he actually mentioned that he had thought about coming back. He laughed and said something to the affect of finding classes to take that he hadn’t already done...

Maybe he could teach? Make a little walking around money?

Remember back in April, when he was still "Anticout" to many of us? Now he's "Jersey Mike," and said with much reverence.

He's gone from flirting with the Mendoza line to a respectable .269, and his effective SLG is better than the actual .486 because he turns nearly any single into a double. Taking bags 39 of 43 attempts is borderline ridiculous.

Edited by Braff Zacklin
reverence, not reference. Sheesh.

I don't think it's gonna happen, but in case the unthinkable happens and our fellow Surly fans are stuck up in Omaha wondering what to do about travel plans, tickets, and the 5 dead hookers piled into their springhill suites closet...thought I'd be of help.  4 trips to the CWS, I've only seen one loss in person by UT.  And I helped Orel Hershiser get rid of some "dead weight" before a trip to the casino.

I'm banking of winning the first two.  We'll see after that.
