3/15 Debate Thread - Joe Biden's CNN Coronation?

Before I turned it off he'd lied a out his positions on Social Security and bankruptcy.

He lies reflexively. He just imagines what he wants to think he was at any given moment in history and just says that.

He's always been this way.

It's a fantastic political trait to have if you have an allied media apparatus.

Hugo hasn’t melted down at all and has faded into the background for the most part., BT’s reaction to Bernie losing has been off the chart irrational. I like Bernie and don’t necessarily like Biden, but I want trump gone. That’s all I care about. He needs to be gone.

Do you imagine this #unity strategy helps the cause?

No. But it don’t make a shit.

There is nothing anyone can do to beat someone who lies and has a media establishment who will overlook or outright cover up those lies.

So the other team holds on every play and your team never does?  Cool.

I actually thought Hugo would meltdown worse than BT. I was wrong

I haven’t melted because I feel like I understand why Biden is winning and even though I disagree with the rationale, I’m okay with it.

Bernie had more than a fair opportunity to win and voters were simply not ready to go all in for a revolution led by a 78 year old democratic socialist.  However, they still really like Bernie’s ideas which is a good thing, others can build on that in future campaigns.

IMO Bernie was always the wrong vehicle for advancing his own agenda and the voters are saying this yet AGAIN by going with a less radical alternative in Biden.

This election is all about stopping the bleeding and minimizing risk.  I don’t think Biden is a safe play but neither is anyone else.

Bernie doesn't lie like Biden does, no. That's just reality. Don't turn into MAGA.

If Biden had said "ebola" three times during the debate when he meant "coronavirus," we'd never hear the end of it from b_t and washfraud.

Are you trying to argue here that Biden and Bernie are of equal mental capacity right now? Or is this just more anti-Bernie trolling with stuff you don't actually believe?

I'd put Biden's mental acuity up against Bernie's any day.  Biden gets tongue-tied.  Guess what--Biden has gotten tongue-tied for the past forty years.  It was the source of much comment 12 years ago when he was chosen to be Obama's running mate.  It's why everyone thought first Palin and then Ryan would have an easy time with him in a debate.

I've only watched Sanders for the past five years.  So I can't comment on his long-term trajectory.  But I can tell you that all Bernie SANDERS DOES IS YELL AT PEOPLE!  It's hardly the mark of mental sharpness.  And don't tell me he's making cogent points in that very loud voice.  He's generally just repeating the same points he's made an innumerable number of times beforehand.

But really--who cares?  Biden is quite obviously fine.  And he'll do very well in a debate against Trump, who really does have brainworms.

And that's all we care about right now, because Biden is the nominee.

If the play is to just turn on a dime from acknowledging Joe's dishonesty and deficits to pretending those things don't exist there's not much point in hashing it out. Party tribalism has engaged and that bypasses higher order thinking straight to lizard brain reaction.

Joe Biden's fundamental dishonesty, vanity, thin skin, and inability to handle stress or challenge didn't change in early March.

It would be better to deal with these things honestly, but obviously you guys are convincing yourselves that pretending the emperor is wearing clothes is necessary right now.

Biden is not as sharp as he used to be but his gaffes have been a known quantity for 30+ years. They are baked in. He came across as sharper than Bernie last night and is infinitely sharper than Trump.
