Thread for people banned from DT till coronavirus goes away

Some of those girls were not 18. Come the fuck on.

Not to mention, nobody wants to think about some skeezy old dude banging a bunch of disease ridden prostitutes when they go to the Covid thread. There should be a "nasty old men taking advantage of borderline underaged women in third world countries" thread that we can confine that shit to, that way I never have to look at it again. Is it worth going back to read everything since that post? I didn't realize I had drunkenly set off a firestorm. My bad, mods, but fuck that guy anyway.

The fundamental problem here is we have a public health crisis, we have to work together as a society to effectively address it, and we need good leadership to effectively motivate society. How leadership responds greatly influences how successful the population will be in minimizing the damage.

Nothing about the above is political, it’s an easily understood truth that many folks do not want to hear or discuss.  It doesn’t matter who is in office, or what party they belong to.

The fundamental problem here is that we have members that insist upon themselves and think they are justified in peeing on the rug instead of in the toilet.

But sometimes the rug is the only thing tying the site/room together.  ;)

I can't believe I haven't been banned already for posting 3 completely apolitical, way ahead of their times b2b peer-reviewed scientific journal articles on the DT thread.  I was sure my sentence would have already been handed down, but most folks took the posting really well.  I don't know that we learned anything or came together on how to combat this pandemic but at least we all listened to one another without wild accusations.

I wasn't even involved in setting off the last round.  @BradInATX posted, wondering why nobody on the board was calling out that fucking horseshit. The answer of course being that he didn't see it because the mods have suppressed the people calling it out, for whatever reason. I honestly think that they are doing the best they can.  And probably some of the posters who whine in their posts when people point it out are reporting the posts, and the mods are sick of the whining so they just nuke the thread. Pretty much same thing when people started whining in the CR when people were pointing out the outright lunacy of the Russia Russia Russia stuff so they had to create a [serious] thread framework.

I miss the “serious” thread. It was only the dumbest fucking thing since new Coke.

The dude is weird, those that celebrate him/defend him are weird, and he’s got no place on a UT message board. Not to sound like Lobo, but his presence here is embarrassing.

Be was predicting Wendy Davis to be governor the day before the election in 2014. She only lost by 20 points. He was predicting a Hillary romp in Texas in 16 and I think he had Beto in 2018 by double digits. It wasn’t that he was wrong but it was the way he was wrong and the timeframe. He kept posting birth and death numbers and declaring it was a foregone conclusion with a metaphysical certainty. “Science”. Also, it is amusing whenever he goes on a rant about Einstein being a moron.

Whatever it is that he publishes on physics and astronomy is roundly mocked and ridiculed by people with any kind of acumen.

He ended up in the Philippines because he wanted the cheapest and free-est place to have sex with people the age of his grandchildren. He’s not just weird, he’s also a dumbass and a dirt bag. But he posts pictures of scantily dressed 15 year olds that other creepy middle aged (rays old but most of the people cheering him on are middle aged) dudes can drool over and he’s some sort of hero, instead of a blight on this site.

I don’t get it and it’s disgusting. I’m glad to be on the same side of this as Brad and Ana.

Yeah defining these is stupidly and idiotically political.  There should not be a reason why; yet people "chose sides" within weeks of it starting.

"Working together as a society"  successfully, rarely involves imposing sanctions on others, whether they are financial burdens or restrictions upon liberty; yet here we are.  We are telling everyone the have to pay that fucking price, right? One side is in love with "absolute freedom from death" and the others just want to get back to normal.

Both scenarios are pipe dreams.

it is uselessly pedantic to say things like " we all want what's best for America" or to add "we just disagree about how to accomplish that"

it sounds like the kind of thing a politician says when they want to sound generously even-handed, and it's usually followed by a contradictory knife in the ribs remark about an opponent

or a bunch of tweets from predictably partisan media outlets, when it's being done on a message board

How about “neither side is populated by a bunch of murderous sociopaths” as even handed.

I used that line in the cloak room last night. I truly believe many in there believe anyone who wants America to open up right now is a sociopath hell bent on piling bodies sky high for reasons.

They want to keep it all clamped down till the whole country falls into a depression . Their schadenfreude is kind of disgusting.  But hey, they know what's best....

I see I’m not the only one who was creeped out by RayDog’s constant posting of his “girls” or whatever. So, what happened, some posters called out that bullshit and got a slap on the wrist instead of him being banned?

naw, too far over the edge is suggesting the president has culpability in our national response to a national emergency. Mob out front shoulda told ya.

In the non political thread yes.  He's got responsibility of course. Going off on him there derails a thread that was pretty strong for a while, but isn't so great anymore.

That's why we can't ever have anything nice.

There's plenty of disdain and distaste for dems. It's just that they aren't rounding up immigrants, giving trillions in tax cuts to the largest and most wealthy individuals and corporations, or ignoring science in favor of political commentators while creating policy to defeat the pandemic of our times.

Plus, you tend to put bad faith arguments to ignore the opposing viewpoint, so you're not doing yourself or the dialogues you have any favors.

That's fair. I've tried to point it out a few times, even in this thread. It's fucking weird and probably not something you would want someone to see if they google "UT message board".

Probably not the top results unless they're Googling "UT message board underage Filipino girls". Then they probably should sign up and start posting.

You mean like closing beaches when every scientific study suggests they are one of the safest places you can be during this?

https://slate.com/business/2020/04/coronavirus-parks-beaches-open-them.html

Dr. Edward Nardell, an airborne-infection specialist at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said outdoor transmission was “possible but improbable.”

“It bugs me to see these restrictions on people being outside,” Nardell said. “Mental health means something as well, and I can’t imagine you’re in a better place than outside if you’re going to have any contact anywhere.” Nardell, who survived a recent battle with COVID-19, said that if he were in Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker’s shoes, he would go ahead with opening the state’s beaches—but with strong signage reminding people to keep their distance and under park ranger supervision.

Nardell’s colleague Marc Lipsitch, an epidemiologist, wrote a more general case for public spaces in the Washington Post last week.* “Closing parks and public gardens should be a temporary, last-resort measure for disease control,” he and his co-authors wrote. “The science could not be clearer: The benefits of getting outside vastly outweigh the risk of getting infected in a park.” Wear a mask, keep your distance, have a ball.

May I also point out that absolutely no one on planet Earth has ever confused Vox or Slate with Fox News or Rush Limbaugh.

Person 2: “How about we tax the rich to pay for things like saving lives and restructuring spending?”

Person 1: ”OMFG! GTFO, this is the NO POLITICS ALLOWED thread. Don’t try to push your politics on us buddy.  Mods please ban this guy!”

well for one thing, increasing taxes is not necessary for restructuring spending, except in the eyes of a leftist, but that's where we are ... roll eyes.   SMDH.

Why isn't there a limit to how far back someone can go to rep a post?   Cuntface Upper Westside is neg repping my posts from the Chiefs-Texans playoff game now.  There is no reason to go that far back into the threads to neg people other than being a giant anal wart infested cunt.  And to all the people who comment "if you ignore him he will stop".  No , he doesn't.  I've been ignoring him for at least the last two weeks and he hasn't slowed down his negging of every post of mine he can find one bit.  He's negged about 25 today and at least three fourths of them are over four months old.  If you are tired of me bitching about this get some moderator to pull their head out of their ass and do something about this shitstain.
