Well if we're going THAT direction..

I'm good with a pass on Corn, they don't bring the value they did at one point.

Perfect world dump Baylor and WV add USC, Arizona State, Rice and Vanderbilt.

Yeah... Roadies to ASU and USC sound damn fine in my book.

Rice is cool but they are soooo bad at football and basketball. You'd just be adding empty games to the schedule.

At least Vandy has a pulse some years in football and basketball and is a very strong baseball program to top it off.

And Urban Meyer is exactly correct. If you play next spring, your team will be at a significant disadvantage next fall. playing 20- 26 games in a 10-12 month cycle has its own issues. I doubt there will be a season this fall (past a few weeks at most), and I doubt there will be a season in the Spring. Once the smoking crater of college athletics is left, we can sort it out and see where things stand next fall.

Edit - I presume you could play an abbreviated spring schedule but whats the point.

I hope they start in early January like Ryan Day wants.  And are playing at the same time that the CFB playoffs are going on.  Watching those games while freezing their asses off in Big 10 country while knowing their games mean jack shit.

Maybe a double header at jerry world? Ohio St vs Oregon at 11, college football playoff at 8?

So if Fox is way short of inventory this Fall, does that mean the B12 can charge for additional coverage to help then offset the loss of revenue from ticket sales?

In essence get more tv slots for everyone and still come out somewhere close to the annual projected budget for each school. That would make all the ADs a bit happier I would suspect...

Baseball dumbass and I live in TN you fucking twat waffle. Also, it's okay for a portion of your alliance to be based on something called academics.

Graham took over at Rice in 1992. He inherited a program that had tallied only seven winning seasons in 78 years of Southwest Conference play and had only finished above fourth place once. I'm guessing they revert to shitty status now that Graham is gone. What he accomplished there was badass, but I'm guessing he was kind of like Bill Snyder at KSU. Good luck replicating that success.

Not sure what that has to do with my comment.

I mean that's fine to consider but Rice is a worse football program than Kansas and mega shitty at basketball. Like, significantly worse than TCU and TCU fucking blows.

Yeah they have a good baseball program but baseball doesn't move the needle in conference realignment.

So you're saying that Fox would pick up the games that weren't going to air on the existing contracts? Essentially be a Tier 3 provider for the entire conference?

It's certainly worth reaching out and asking. If both a fall and spring season actually happen, I would imagine that ESPN would pay some decent money for the Big 10/Pac-12 spring season.

With no MAC-action or Pac12 after dark, ESPN is going to be gobbling up extra content like crazy. Fox is going to get hit as well. See who you can get to pay for the tier 3 we have leftover and use that to help offset some losses.

The one thing that is going to piss a lot of us off if this fall season happens is that ESPN is going to start mentioning "but one of their wins was a non-conference patsy" when comparing ACC and Big 12 teams to the SEC. Completely and totally acting like they haven't ignored the SEC's annual FCS Week and 8 instead of 9 conference games for years.

This right here. Actually, maybe this forces them to address this issue instead of hiding from it. Elephant in the room and whatnot.

I bet they'll pressure the OSU and TCU's of the conference into midweek games and 9:30 kickoffs, for TV and shit.

Just now, Doc Reeves said:

As someone who enjoys twaffles as much as I do, that is disconcerting. That’s sad. I’m a blue twaffle enthusiast.

The Big 12 sold all the rest of its rights to ESPN last year to start a digital channel on ESPN+.  So I'm not sure they have anything left to offer Fox.

However, with the Big Ten and Pac 12 gone, there will be a lot more availability to shift games off FS1 and onto big Fox.

I think you mean 7 conference championships.  They had 7 winning seasons by 1932.

I didnt realize I had to specify baseball seasons when referencing Wayne Graham. And i just copied that out of Grahams page on wiki (which we all know is never wrong).

I'm with ya, but having a roster of:

Nebraska
Colorado
Utah
BYU..?
Arizona
Arizona State
UCLA
USC

Makes for a pretty strong league...

I hope they start in early January like Ryan Day wants.  And are playing at the same time that the CFB playoffs are going on.  Watching those games while freezing their asses off in Big 10 country while knowing their games mean jack shit.

Has there been any response from the CF Playoff big cigars or committee members?  Would they even do a playoff or bowl season without all P5 conferences?  Would they do a fall and spring playoff?  I'd just assume they punt and not do anything.

Someone got out of the wrong side of the bed this am.   He just gave his opinion and you answer like this wow....

based on his posts elsewhere on this site over the last week or so, i'm genuinely concerned that our resident constitutional scholar is having a mental breakdown.  hopefully he is okay out in his cabin somewhere and this isn't a result of no social interaction.

Baseball dumbass and I live in TN you fucking twat waffle. Also, it's okay for a portion of your alliance to be based on something called academics.

You seem very angry. I’m going to write you a prescription for weed and pussy. Don’t be afraid to mix the two. For God’s sake please

More like an old man who hasn't lived west of the Mississippi since '96 and doesn't pay that much attention to college baseball unless it involves Texas or Tech.

The reference to Bill Snyder kind of threw me off.  I mean, this is the conference realignment thread, not the baseball forum.  What, it's neither?

Can I get a prescription for weed and pussy, too?

Conference realignment talk is serious bidness.

However, if you have some available USC or ASU co-eds who are interested in an old ass man who lives in the hills of Tennessee, I'm listening.

As a fellow old man, those sorts of connections are long, long gone. The best I could do is dispatch some dirty legs from New Braunfels. Just make sure you’re up to date on your shots

I too would like a pussy prescription, particularly if the cute little nerdy chic at my CVS fills it.

They don’t give a shit about the game. They care about the ratings and income. They’ll have the playoffs if only four teams play a season.

So what’s going to happen with eligibility? Can players opt out? What happens if the league shuts down the season half way through?

Who is going to enforce the health protocols? What happens if say Oklahoma doesn’t report a positive test for a key player to let them play the RRS? If two or more teams have to quarantine after an outbreak, isn’t the season fucked?

Hey 324 people died from Covid in TX yesterday, but sure let’s play ball where half the league will send ~85 18-22 year olds to travel and stay in a hotel each week. Boy this seems dumb
