I'd like to see a remake of Thelma and Louise with male actors in the lead roles.

I wouldn't watch that piece of shit, but I'd enjoy watching 90% of millennial women's heads come off in complete hypocrisy.

Thelma and Louise was the female version of Butch and Sundance

Fuck with Cool Hand Luke, or Shawshank, or the above, and I’ll find an Aubrey McClendon solution

I wouldn't mind seeing how they re-imagine the scenes with The Sisters.  Unless they call them The Brothers, and Melissa McCarthy is their leader.

Exactly. Replacing men with women in remakes is not "doing something different".

saw this today.  thought it was terrible.  how do you have a movie where there is no villain.  the characters didn't mesh well.  it was basically a girl power movie.

**some spoilers**

I was surprised how mediocre it was. I thought Sandra Bullock’s character was one of the weak links as she was wooden and mostly humorless. The Asian rapper Aquafina also brought the scrappy doo. Her and Rihanna are notably bad actors and contributed to the lack of chemistry with the real actors.

The twists were not really twists but add ons. The comedy was mild. It was not boring, but will be forgettable. Piggybacks on the success of others with less interesting (but still derivative) direction, writing and soundtrack as the previous three. Not as clever by a long shot as them either.

Back to Bullock-Debby Ocean. She’s not a charming long con artist, but plays a hardened career criminal who preys on innocent people, threatens violence and seeks revenge on a cowardly snitch. She says she was framed, but she committed the crime.

ahahahahaha, directed by a man, and that's why it sucks.  Yeah, I'm sure that's the reason.

The real question, though, is why this male filmmaker, Gary Ross? It turns out that the female version of the story was his idea, so he directed and wrote (with Olivia Milch). It also turns out that his style, or lack of it, is the uneven Ocean’s major liability.

No it sucks because its the same fucking terrible idea after terrible idea coming out of hollywood.  No new ideas?  Lets reboot!

This x 1000.

I was checking out the Yahoo.com clickbait articles and one was about best movies with mostly female cast.  This movie, Ghostbusters and Charlie's Angles were on the list.

Ouch!

Here's the thing:  the Ocean's movies really rise or fall on the cast's charm.  Down to the bit players. One of the best scenes in Ocean's Eleven is the car buying scene with Bernie Mack, Casey Affleck, and Scott Caan.  All those scenes have to land, or the movie falls apart due to the absurd plot.

So, I could see the rational for a remake, but the chemistry has to fire on all cylinders.  If it doesn't, then it just turns into the original bratpack ocean's eleven movie, which sucked, because I don't care how good their nightclub act was, it didn't translate on screen.

Other than some reviews I've seen about Ann Hathaway, it doesn't sound like the chemistry is there.

Bullock can't pull off a female Clooney. He is actually cool. She played it horribly. It was distracting from the rest of the movie. But I thought the rest of the cast was good. If you put Sarah Paulson, Cate Blanchett and Helen Bonham Carter in a movie it probably won't suck. But this was just meh, probably better than 12 but worse than 11 and 13.

Well, they actually do that quite a bit.  Just, for whatever reason, the feminists and SJWs never have anything to say about those films.

Annihilation is a movie made by a phenomenal director, based on a good-to-great book, and the cast is almost entirely women.  And not stock standard cliche women, either.  They're smart, capable, and flawed.  Portman is the main protagonist and she's a badass, but a realistic one and not some Mary Sue nonsense.  IMHO, it was a fantastic fucking film.    Not a fucking peep to be heard about it from all the people who screech about how we need more female-centric movies, more females in movies period, blah blah blah.

Well, they made Clooney a likable con artist/robber.  He is taking down a casino.  Andy Garcia's character was the snarky hatable bad guy where you wouldn't mind getting robbed.  Sandra Bullock is robbing a fucking museum.  Only crooks steal from museums.  You can't be a likable character if you're stealing from a fucking museum.  You aren't innocent.  You're just a piece of shit scum.

Annihilation was fucking terrible.   And before anyone flips ti had nothing to do with the cast being women (cause I like all of them as actresses) and everything with it being fucking terrible.

Horrible...I saw early ratings and thought maybe it would be some surprise great plot that could rival the previous Oceans 11, 12, 13...NOPE. Glad we used some free passes. As mentioned there was no real villain, and it was so simple and...boring.  All I could think about  was how it missed the funny chemistry of the male cast, lack of twists.  It didn’t have the  history, research, gadgets and complexity of the other movies.  And the revenge factor in this movie was so dumb and chic.

Technically she was robbing a Russian oligarch and an insurance company, not the museum.

I didn’t think it was bad but it wasn’t great either. The chemistry definitely wasn’t there. I actually didn’t mind Bullock but thought Blanchett was dead weight. Hathaway was perfection and Paulson and Bonham-Carter were really good as well.
