That's the absolute best case, pie in the sky scenario for Trump. But remove only Michigan (where Trump is getting fuckhammered) and it's President Biden.

Flip Arizona and Michigan, Trump still wins with 270.

It does concern me.

for years, we’ve been amped up to take on trump and the guy quits right before. Would democratic voters celebrate prematurely and not show up in the fall?

this is the GOP or the Republican Party we’re talking about here. These jack asses enabled this orange baby for years, protected him against the media, and never gave an inch. They propped up their idiot president to suit their interests, but as Election Day approaches they will distance themselves from him if his poll numbers are really that bad.

that fucking idiot John cornyn, who never does anything, has been calling out trump lately. He’s worried about Trump narrowing the state of Texas.

when it comes to the GOP, you’re literally dealing with idiots who would rather die than lose an election. Hell. If they could, these guys would take their seats with them to the grave. They pretty much hold on to them until age 90+ anyway.

After the latest spate of polls, his campaign released a memo on Sunday essentially refuting the claims that the president’s reelection chances were in trouble. The campaign cited polling that showed a lack of enthusiasm for Biden, especially in key battleground states, and called into question the methodology used in major polls.

guess i'll have to take your word for it, number two.

Lmao at the idea that Trump would voluntarily drop out of the race.

He's going to cry election interference if he loses and spend the rest of his life whining about how he lost an illegitimate election. Hopefully that's from behind bars.

rasmussen seems to get closer to 100% than other polls.  don't know why that is.  wonder if there is some wording that dissuades people from saying don't know/no opinion

Remember this is an approval poll, not an election poll. RMG Research is Scott Rasumussen's new outfit and they do the election polls now and has similar splits to everyone other than Trafalgar.

If he had any sense, Trump would have gone overboard at trying to be the candidate who caters to and protects the elderly population from the pandemic.  Old people were his support base, and the GOP base in general.  His and the Dan Patricks of the GOP’s attitude that grandma should die for the economy is actually going to be the most disastrous decision for the GOP in November.   The olds only support that nonsense when they don’t think they’re really in danger.

Trump won olds against Hillary by huge numbers, and those margins have dramatically narrowed in polls against Biden.  He probably could have done anything he wanted and kept their support, too ... except, you know, for literally tossing them aside to die.  That will get someone’s attention and cut through the Fox News bullshit like nothing else.  MS-13 suddenly seems a lot more trivial when you’re trying to stay off a ventilator.

Yep. Let’s all sacrifice grandma so we can all go bowling is not a winning campaign theme.

Man, just got done leafing through a Trafalgar poll. Pretty shoddy, IMO. Their samples for MI and WI are extremely old and white. They also give out very little in the way of results/crosstabs. Just percentages of age and race and a final result. No detailed vote breakdown by demographics, no education/income info.

It could be shoddy, but they also believe the "shy Trump voter" phenomenon is stronger now than it was 4 years ago and could be accounting for that.

National crises are actually the easy part of the job as president.  If Trump weren't such a fucking idiot, he would have just urged everyone to listen to professionals and called for national unity.  Instead, we got division, conspiracy theories,  and half assed strategies.

GOP has made a brand of "the experts are elite.  and elite, as everyone knows, is bad."

This is so true and it’s scary to think this could have gone incredible for Trump if he handled C19 just half as mediocre as Cuomo did.

Teddy Roosevelt felt cheated that he didn’t have a huge national crisis to manage while he was president because he would have owned that shit.

Do you guys think Biden and the polling would hold up if trump quit?

the republicans don’t have anyone on the bench who can step in and do well.

Zero chance of it happening, but if Trump announced he was dropping out of the race, and the GOP put up Marco Rubio as their candidate against Joe Biden, I think Rubio would win.

But there is no chance of that happening.

Yep.  If Trump had just gotten out in front of his base and convinced them that quarantining and wearing masks were the patriotic thing to do, and immediately allocated the resources to test and trace everywhere, his approval rating would probably be almost 60%.  Dumbass was handed $6T in stimulus and can’t even convert that to Re-election.

Just saw my first Biden attack ad by the trump campaign.

Not sure if this was a national buy or what, but if you’re running attack ads—ATTACK ADS—against Biden in Texas? They know they are in trouble.

Was it the one where they show a couple of clips of Biden stuttering? They guy with a known stuttering issue? Saw that yesterday.

Was it a Trump ad or a group that supports Trump?

If it's a Trump campaign buy then yeah, it's significant.

No, it was about China.

Specifically looked for that.  It was a trump buy, not a group.

They are seriously producing ads mocking someone for a stutter?  JFC, there is no bottom. They're not even pretending to have the barest minimum of human decency.

Oh the language is "he's too old" or something.

That's a bold move considering, no matter what you think of Trump, you could make a two hour clip movie of his myriad verbal fuckups just since he took office.

No words.  Hell, I had an uncle who struggled with a stutter his whole life (he recently died).  But when he was a kid growing up in the 50s, he was mocked for being "retarded," both for having a stutter and because he was dyslexic, before there was a real understanding of learning disabilities.

Meanwhile, the so called president thinks shit like this is okay.

The same giant snowflakes who accuse the left of being emotional, are going to great lengths to make everything personally offensive.

No.  I definitely remembered this.  But did trump actually comment on that?  My recollection was that SHS was pretty universally shot down for this. And now trump is reviving this crap.
