Not if the focus is on functionally tossing out the votes in swing states (contesting the irregularity of the election there, getting a friendly GOP legislature to somehow hold up the votes, etc.)  He wants to be able to point at enthusiastic Trumper red state votes, and just completely disregard any votes in swing states, so he will then claim that he won both the EC AND the popular vote (if you don't count votes against you, it's easy to win the popular vote).

We aren't getting him out of the WH without the use of force.  He's fighting for his life right now, so he'll never go quietly.

You are off your meds again. None of that is going to happen. Our system is stronger than one man.

Remember this maxim when trump claims the vote is rigged, every accusation is a confession. Manafort and the Russians stole the 2016 election. Surprised even trump himself. They weren’t dumb, they weren’t gonna tell Trump what was going on. I bet trump didn’t really want to win.

When brisket finds his meds you need to take a double portion from him.

This is extreme.

im quite shocked by this. Usually the GOP is known as the party who makes up conspiracy theories. There’s no way trump can pull this off and get away with it.

He’s been doing this off and on for 3 or 4 years now. It’s really absurd. Also, the 2018 skull fucking by the Dems (that he said the GOP would steal) hasn’t stopped this nonsense.
it’s not just him, it’s lots of people on here. And it’s just absurd.

Battlegrounds like Iowa? 2020 is a different ballgame.

What’s funny is how hard Iowa went for trump. I think it last went GOP in 84 and before that Nixon. Always in the dem column and then 2016- bam- not even close for trump.

I’ve got it 334 to 204. Final answer.

Yep. You can add Nevada to that group as well and not even really bother to poll any of those states.

He might be on Tapa - no multi quote there.

If not then no excuse. wink.png

Just did this with tapa. Click near the top of the post and it will select it. Then select all the ones you want to quote (in order).

Quite frankly, that’s a lame retort. Be better.

Such an unserious post deserved such a reply. I thought it was funny (still do), but I guess not every joke lands.
Seriously man, Russia didn’t hack 80,000 ballots in Detroit and change those votes. No way. It’s crazy talk.

Well maybe you’re right. Maybe you’re right. Just strange is all. All the polls were right, except in three certain critical states, that just so happened to change the election by 80k votes, and changed the world.

Believing something as foolish as that is exactly the predicate for formerly functional countries to collapse into authoritarianism.

The rule of law is only as strong as the will of the powerful to follow it. He doesn’t, and won’t. And he has an entire political party that is completely loyal to him. History shows us plenty of examples of that being more than enough to bring down a country.

Stop believing that. The institutions have failed. All that’s left is the vote, and that will be an uphill climb against fucking STATED INTENT TO LIMIT AND INTERFERE WITH IT. When someone tells you who they are and what they are going to do, believe them.

Want to make another bet?  You can lose just like our Alabama bet. We have 225 years of peaceful transfer of power. That orange Buffon isn’t gonna end that streak.

Not proud of it but those in medicine tend to have a pretty damn morbid sense of humor.  Helps deal with the constant bad news a lot of us see.  Not saying that makes it ok, just an observation from the inside.

The republican Party has failed this country. We have had three colossal economic failures, every single one at the tail end of republican administrations. 1929, 2008, and 2020. These are undisputed facts. They have prevented this great country from reaching its unlimited potential because they are failures and corrupt and the elites want to divide us. First black v white now red v blue.  They have lied to and failed us and continue to do so. Anyone who continues to support them is an enemy of America. Most are ignorant selfish dipshits, many are my friends and family. Even the relatively off apparently don’t realize how bad they are being fucked over. Their taxes support this shitshow, not the ultra wealthy. The owners just sit back and laugh at you, while you dutifully paying your third. You are sheep.

Spread the word.

Define peaceful transfer of power. Post-election politically motivated violence seems almost inevitable. Everything is so ramped you right now and it seems likely to become more intense. I’d expect a fair amount.

No matter the result of the election,  mainstream voices will be calling it illegitimate. No matter the result, foreign countries will keep picking at everything and amplifying the chaos. We’ve already seen that Trump largely traffics in conspiracies and division and I’d expect a Biden win would only intensify this. At a minimum, multiple acts of “lone wolf” violence seems like a sure thing.

That’s a bit different than Trump’s secret army trying to capture Biden, which is pretty unlikely, but no longer completely impossible.

You could drive from the Idaho/Canada border to the beach in Georgia without hitting a Democrat state. But the democratic would have won the electoral college 373-165.

Still would put Texas as pink though.

So you honestly believe that his tweet about postponing the election was just to take attention away from the abysmal GDP numbers and NOT a dog whistle to his supporters that unrest, trickeration and outright theft are in the works to either ensure his re-election or refuse to leave office due to an "unfair" vote?

Because I think that is exactly what he did.

It doesn’t matter. It’s over. And nobody will care. He will be an object of scorn and ridicule when he gets his head bashed in.

All of the above. Is it a stone-cold lock? No. Is it materially likely, as in a non-zero chance that involves a real integer? You know that’s the case. And just that level of risk is unacceptable and indicates that we are turbo fucked.

I mean, probably 95% of the time, drivers with a .12 BAC get home safely. Do you think that level of risk is acceptable, so you’d let him drive your kids home? Society sure doesn’t - we’d arrest him on the spot. Trump has created, fomented, and repeatedly stated his intention to up that risk. Ignore it at your peril.

We’re in a car driven by a staggering drunk. Don’t tell me “nothing bad will happen.”

What happens when Trump jokes about his people needing to guard polling places during the election? You know those fine Boogaloo or Proud Boys with their ARs playing as Patriots at polling places.

Trump's not talked about it...yet....but it's already happening.

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/18/us/Voting-republicans-trump.html

Quote

The Republican program, which has gained steam in recent weeks, envisions recruiting up to 50,000 volunteers in 15 key states to monitor polling places and challenge ballots and voters deemed suspicious. That is part of a $20 million plan that also allots millions to challenge lawsuits by Democrats and voting-rights advocates seeking to loosen state restrictions on balloting. The party and its allies also intend to use advertising, the internet and Mr. Trump’s command of the airwaves to cast Democrats as agents of election theft.

History keeps repeating itself.

Quote

The efforts are bolstered by a 2018 federal court ruling that for the first time in nearly four decades allows the national Republican Party to mount campaigns against purported voter fraud without court approval. The court ban on Republican Party voter-fraud operations was imposed in 1982, and then modified in 1986 and again in 1990, each time after courts found instances of Republicans intimidating or working to exclude minority voters in the name of preventing fraud. The party was found to have violated it yet again in 2004.

I can't wait to see the proudboys/boogaloo folks at polling places in November.  You can't wear a Biden shirt to a voting location by law, but you can bring an assault rifle?  Yeah, that's gonna go over well.

100% chance of legit brawls at polling places this November.

If I were a fascist clinging to power, I would organize aggressive “polling monitor” groups to stand guard outside voting locations in minority-heavy areas. Open brawling is not the goal - that shit makes the news, inspires opposition, and leads to investigations. Violence creates opposition out of people who would otherwise support you or at least stand aside. The goal is to simultaneously appear menacing to minority voters but as legitimate observers of Law & Order to Karens, “Gary Johnson” voters, brow-furrowing Republicans, and other deplorable-adjacents.

My goal is to prevent those assholes from being effective. Show up to the polls. Advise voters of their rights. Offer rides to the polling places and an escort to the registration table. Wave a bar card around, sending GOP goons scurrying like minor vampires facing down a crucifix. And shoot double-barrel birds at fascist intimidators while enabling underrepresented Americans to exercise their constitutional rights.

My question is: is there an organization doing this kind of work? Because I’ll donate time and money to that kind of effort.
