Strong reply to porn. Even stronger to a tab. I’ll wager the kids on zoom likely have seen and googled much worse.

I’d bet that worse has been discussed as part of course content in some of Miami’s gender and sexuality studies courses. I get that studying something academically is distinct from studying it for self-enrichment, but the words flashed on the screen can’t inherently be the problem, at least at this particular institution.

The reasoning that the word “college” being included is somehow damning stretches credulity. It’s embarrassing and inappropriate, but unless Miami is now leading an anti-pornography campaign, I don’t see how they can justify responding in this manner, unless there was some other pattern we’re not aware of.

This didn't happen at Baylor.  Most universities do frown on faculty having fantasies about fucking the coeds in their classes.

I was going to make a comment about a certain composition professor still at the Butler School of Music, but it looks like he finally “retired.”

He was fired for that? every single male in a college campus setting wants to bang the hot students. doesn't matter if you're a professor, a student, or the janitor.

That's a travesty

Let's be clear here -- this guy was adjunct faculty.  He's easy to fire and the problem goes away.  If Sheridan Titman (name checks out, huh?) does this at UT, he's not getting fired.

i just don't understand bookmarking porn.  it's ridiculously easy to find even if you don't know you can just type in pornhub.com into the address bar.

I’m guessing he was watching it and while hurriedly trying to close it out, accidentally bookmarked it.  A friend of mine has had that happen once.

Johnson explained that earlier in the semester when she was experiencing personal problems, Zhang was the most caring of all her professors and said he seemed sincere."

If Jade was busty, I'm sure she had his full attention.

If you have a policy against offensive websites for your workplace, it doesn't mean you are for or against them  It means don't view them at work, on company resources.

I’m a bit surprised that a school without a religious affiliation would fire someone over this. It would make sense at a school with some kind of morality covenant, but this really surprises me.

The U used to be a Roman Catholic school, i.e. actually having a religious affiliation. I don't know how strongly it is affiliated now, if at all, but I believe it's still "private" as opposed to "public".

This is not true.  It was started in the 20's by the guy who developed Coral Gables, George Merrick.  It has never had any religious affiliation.

Along with San Diego State and Arizona State, Miami has always seemed like one of the likeliest candidates to be the first to start offering degrees in Porn Studies.

Sounds like more of a postgrad program -- a masters in porn studies seems like a natural.

That’s fair enough, assuming he was using a university laptop. I don’t know if that’s a fair assumption.

This is the same university that had an alum admit to paying for abortions and to bring whores to football players. I just assumed that paid porn subscriptions are part of the faculty recruitment package.

Congrats to the alum bring whores.  Much better than rape.

If this happened at Baylor, he'd be reprimanded since it wasn't a mock-rape site bookmark,

Sometimes ya gotta get to that fetish, and it's gotta be right at that very fucking instant.

I don’t surf anything on my work laptop. I either use my phone or my personal laptop to surf news, Surly, or porn. That mistake showed a complete and udder lack of judgement.

Either I see what you did there or that is a fantastic misspelling. I'm not sure which one it is.
