I’m impressed the $9.95ers were able to create drama and milk some clicks out of pretending the guy who tweets “praise be to Allah” might go to aggy.

If bimbo ever wanted to recruit a non-Christian football player and sneak it past the aggie faithful, now is the time. Most diehard aggies are busy waving nazi and confederate flags at state capitols around the country.

Yet another swing and a miss for the aggy. The recruiting on the line has been spotty in recent years so to start this class off with a solid commit on the line after closing out the 2020 class with a solid haul on the line is encouraging.

How he fits at Texas: Thomas is an ultra-explosive edge player who plays under a lot of control. You can tell he trusts his first step quickness to get him where he needs to be when he needs to be there without having to sell out every play to get into the backfield. His frame suggests he’s going to end up being 6-3 and 260+ so while he has the athleticism to play as a weak side end/OLB hybrid he could also keep his hand in the dirt as a strongside end that can set the edge or move in to create pileups in the B-gap against the run. This is the sort of player that comes alive in a four-down scheme that would have been wasted further inside as a 4i in the previous system. He could be a strong run defender that approaches double-digit sacks as an upperclassman starter. – Ian Boyd

Ooof. Maybe just start using a random word generator. It would have a better chance of being on point than an Ian Boyd recruiting eval.

Unless IT has some magical film none of us have seen before, I’d say Thomas’ weakest points are explosiveness and first step quickness. His sophomore film highlights are a bunch of him being slow out of his stance and shooting straight up so he loses all of his explosiveness. Gems got a ton of athleticism and can improve a lot with better technique, but I don’t see him ever being a guy who just explodes off the line and beats OTs with quickness around the edge.

Gerry:

One of the questions regarding the freshman class is when will Jordon Thomas rejoin the Texas program.

Inside Texas spoke with a pair of sources on Monday, and the hope is that the 4 star prospect in the 2021 class will rejoin Texas in the spring.

The 6-foot-3, 273-pound Thomas remains listed on the Texas Longhorns roster, but he is not enrolled at the university. He took part in summer workouts before leaving the program prior to the start of fall practice.

He has been spending time with family in Port Arthur and East Texas in recent weeks.

Thomas came out of Port Arthur Memorial as one of the top ranked defensive prospects in Steve Sarkisian’s transition class. Thomas racked up 65 tackles, 19 tackles for loss and 12 sacks as a senior helping lead the Titans to a 9-1 regular season.

The Texas freshman class is one filled with promise, including the defensive front. Defensive tackle Byron Murphy and EDGE Barryn Sorrell have both logged snaps this season in the first three games. Receiver Xavier Worthy leads the Longhorns in receiving yards, and is second in receptions.

Roach says he's away from the team but in school.  Who knows 🤷‍♂️

I think he’s either having to step up and deal with a terminally ill family member or a kid….only two things that make sense. He may be in a school near his hometown?

it's neither one of those things.

There is a reason the 9.95'ers are respecting privacy on this one.  It isn't discipline, it isn't a criminal issue, it isn't a character issue.  I hope he is, indeed, back in the spring, and remain optimistic for his long term potential in the program.

Then it's personal health or a credits issue.

Is it related to religion?
