(WHAM-TV) -- McCann's Local Meats in the South Wedge of Rochester is celebrating five year in business, and its newest birthday gift is being shared with customers starting Monday. It's a vending machine, not filled with pretzels and cookies, but raw and cooked meat.

Owner Kevin McCann says this was a reaction purchase to the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to create safe purchases, but still provide meat to consumers. It's located in the store's vestibule, so while the main store will remain locked when closed, the machine will be accessible 24/7. The machine is stocked with fresh meat, and McCann says it will continue to be sanitized daily.

"We can provide to our customers in a way they’ll be looking for, which is contact-free on their schedule," said McCann. "Especially with healthcare workers who are working crazy schedules and might not have anything available right away. Especially with grocery stores closing early, we want people to shop on their own time."

McCann asks that you still wear a mask when using the machine, and only one person or family is allowed into the vestibule at a time.

McCann's Local Meats also offers curbside pickup
