i remember being called a racist because I didn’t agree with some economic policies of Obama’s.  Funny when you lay it out as policy and people come back with the racist label because you dared to disagree.

yes, now is certainly time for these types of arguments 🙄

You apparently don’t understand underlying comparisons.

my point being, even someone who agrees with “the young people” on racism but disagrees with them Politically is labeled a racist and shouted down    It’s intellectual dishonesty and a form of fascism in its own right

No, but Charles Murray sure as hell is a racist.

I remember when being educated was knowing and understanding multiple ways to solve a problem, and opinions of multiple varieties.  Sorry you got such a shitty education or have such a standoffish idea about reality.

Have you been shot, or thrown into a concentration camp, or been arrested, or even temporarily detained? No? Then it’s not fucking fascism, it’s just people calling you an asshole, which they have the right to do.

Not a fan of Murray, although I’ve read some of his stuff.   Sometimes, you have to read things you don’t like to understand how opinions are formed

I have been arrested,  and unlawfully so , on 2 occasions.  Eliminating the voice of people that disagree with you on a particular idea on an intellectual basis is fascism.  Just because you don’t have the balls to hear ideas that don’t give you a quiver up your leg doesn’t mean they’re racist, it means they have a different idea of how to solve a particular puzzle.  It’s a shame how intellectually dishonest so many of you fuckers are.  We actually agree on more than you would know, but you’re too fucking thin-skinned to hear other ideas how to solve problems.  Fucking bitchasss pussies

I got slammed up against a wall and taken to jail for PI about 15 minutes after I got off work while in college, 2 different times, by the same jackass cop.   Slammed my face into a wall and told me he knew I was drunk because I dared talk to him about how I was not.   Even gave him my clock out slip from where I worked.   Cuffed me so bad that I bled from my wrists and had bruisers from him driving like a fuckhead to the jail (slamming breaks, turning abruptly so my head hit the window, etc) all because I dared to question his intelligence, authority, and reason.

My point has very clearly been that people calling you racist for saying shit they thought was racist (and may well have been, whether you find klan hoods fashionable or not) is not fascism

Disagreeing with certain points is not racism, and I’ll charge you to find somewhere that I have been on this board. Bottom line.  But silencing an opinion you don’t agree with, just because you don’t agree with it, is running the road of fascism.

i hate fascists, and I hate ANTIFA( many of whom are unknowingly fascists, lol) alike.  I can’t stand intellectually dishonest rhetoric, from anyone.   So you can take your labels and your good comments back to your fucking basement

Racists don't get heard from many people. It's a silencing tactic.

Fascists: want to kill everyone that doesn't look and think like them.

Antifascists: want fascists to shut the fuck up and go back to play video games in their moms' basements.

Morons: "These two groups are the same, actually."

Fascist/ANTIFA/Sexist: “kneel down white suburbanite, you’d didn’t vote for Hillary (or Donald Trump) and you think Obama’s Healthcare bill was policy that wouldn’t work, apologize and ask forgiveness for your racism/sexism”

me:  you won’t even let me fucking talk, how would you know who I voted for, or what opinions I have?

Oh my god, you are so fucking stupid. Those are samples of concrete mixes taken from a construction site. You can even read the fucking notes on the side of the coffee cups, which look nothing like ice cream containers except that they’re round.

I've never seen a tester use some random paper bucket.

My assumption when seeing these is they are to hold a shop door open, but they are so small.

Sounds like you have a prepackaged perception issue.  ANTIFA is not a real organization you should even trouble yourself with.  They do not have any kind of unique ideology other than making sure racists and Nazis do not acquire power.

If ANTIFA was a legitimate group, they have failed catastrophically in the United States.

ANTIFA is largely a fictional opposition group fascists use as a boogieman to suppress dissent in their population.  Republicans are already insinuating Elizabeth Warren is the head of Antifa.  Joe Biden will be the head of the Symbionese Liberation Army by October.  It’s all bullshit.

No, I pretty much can’t stand anyone who can’t sit down and discuss a topic without using the words “they/them/us”, and then saying that anything that doesn’t align directly with me/us, is a they/them/that.  It’s a logical fallacy in its own right.

Fascist body count = tens of millions

Antifa body count = 0, but someone called Trey a racist once and antifa doesn't like racists so it must've been antifa, so antifa are the real fascists

It would be hilarious if millions of people didn't think essentially just like this.

You're missing his point. His point is that anti-facists are the actual facists for refusing to consider the facist point of view. Or something like that.

It's hard to really derive a point through all the pathetic victimhood poorly disguised by the "I'm the independent rational thinker who is above it all and not at all an idiot who is a complete slave to my myriad fears" Ben Shapiro/Jordan Peterson act.

This is one of my favorite right wing narratives:  that the ideology of communism is responsible for more genocide than the Nazis, and therefore communists are much worse than Nazis.

Yes, I am aware Stalin was a brutal dictator and communism is a failed ideology but I missed the Karl Marx chapter on “how to starve your population to death and get away with it.”

It’s one of the more insidious lines of thought going on with the right.

Csb: when I was in Jamaica and Tucker Carlson had his whole family there for his kids wedding, the one thing I heard them say on the beach was trying to justify this exact point to some gay friends attending the wedding. "the Right is so much better than the socialist left. Look at the body count. Pol Pot, Stalin, etc!" "Democrats aren't tolerant, they wanted slaves!"

The article was an interesting read. It does seem to be true, but the agency didn't seem to take it seriously. Wirostek, the young man who made the tweet made these remarks toward the end of the article:

Quote

Alternatively, it could be the case that the bureau knew the claim was untrue, and that the purpose of the call was not to investigate the substance of the tweet, but to send a message to those who would show support for a movement that the Trump administration has deemed an enemy.

If that’s the case, Wirostek said, then the bureau had a degree of success. “I’m definitely thinking and being hesitant before I say anything online,” he explained, “which could be the intention of those types of calls, to kind of chill speech.”

While he was not the subject of direct surveillance, Wirostek recognizes that his interaction with the FBI could result in his placement on one of the many opaque and often invasive watch lists that U.S. law enforcement maintains. That kind of surveillance, he argued, which the United States has embraced with historic vigor in the years following the September 11 attacks: “definitely chills political discourse, even if it’s not explicit.”

Some telling survey data regarding the public perception of “Antifa.”

Over-45 "boomers" think Antifa is a bigger threat than white supremacists? WTF.

Media is broken. They have people locked in information/news silos, where the dumbing down of America is proceeding at breakneck speed.

Unchain yourselves from your regular newsfeeds - today. If you get your news from facebook - you are part of the problem. No offense.

That actually worked with one of my friends. She would come at me with some weird social media talking point and I'd listen. Thanks to the President, she was distrustful of the msm  like CNN but I'd gently suggest Reuters or the actual transcript of a discussion with an article showing a few items. It has been a long slow process, but she has become more and more skeptical of the targeting articles that she receives from social media and thinking more critically. She may still vote for Trump, I haven't heard her say one way or another although she actively criticizes him now but she has seen the light on the worst of it. The COVID coverage was what moved the needle initially, and then the events in Minneapolis and nationwide moved it a lot more. Her background is East Texas, and she said her parents are not speaking to her right now because they called her out on some post she liked (I take that it was too left for them) and she pushed back. I hate what the propaganda is doing to families.

@washparkhorn

There's a lot of people you just can't change. You have to walk away. I think of those haunting pictures from the sixties with those angry faces: open mouths, eyes full of anger and hate. All directed toward 'other.' Those 'others' they have been taught to hate. No matter what is said about 'core values' and social mores and all that being slow or impossible to change, we know it IS possible. I'm not trying to turn people into Biden supporters, but at least get off the sofa chair of lazy thinking before forming an opinion. Otherwise, people are happy to form it for you. If you had told me a decade ago that I would be in favor of health care for all, I would have laughed at you. Here I am today, thinking it's a stain on our country that people suffer for lack of it.

Propaganda is powerful. Very. It is also seductive. But like that nubile young woman you met during happy hour, standing in the shadows beckoning to you with a gleam in her eye, make sure you have some protection.
