Not antifa - which isn't an it.

Spoiler

This evening, around a dozen activists with ShutDownDC held an hour long vigil at the Virginia home of Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Missouri) to demand that he drop his baseless contestation of the 2020 presidential election results. Hawley was the first of 12 Republican senators who pledged to join more than 100 Republican House members in their plan to derail Congress' acceptance of Joe Biden's election win on January 6.

Activists lit candles and delivered a copy of the US Constitution to Hawley's door. The crowd chanted "Shame! Shame on Hawley!" and "Protect Democracy from the GOP." They also read messages from voters in the states whose election results Hawley and the other Senators are planning to contest, including Missouri and Pennsylvania. Police arrived at around 7:45PM.

"We came to let Hawley know that his actions are undemocratic and unacceptable," said ShutDownDC activist Patrick Young. "Voters decided who they wanted to be president and now Hawley is trying to silence their voices, even after Republican election officials certified the vote counts. And let's not forget that the bulk of the votes they would throw out come from Black and brown voters. This is an attempted coup waged by silencing the voices of people of color."

One protester's sign read, "There's nothing wrong with saying you've recalculated," referring to a recording of Trump's recent phone conversation with the Georgia Secretary of State.

Hawley's planned contestation will add kindling to an already dangerous situation: On January 6, thousands of supporters of Donald Trump will be in DC for a delusional “Stop the Steal” protest. As ShutDownDC and others have repeatedly documented, many of these supporters are threatening to bring illegal weapons and to commit violence against anyone who disagrees with their views, including members of Congress, local officials, and police.

ShutDownDC has called on area hotels to close their doors to these people. But hotel chains including Marriott, Hyatt, and Holiday Inn have refused. They, along with Mayor Bowser, Metro Police, and other officials who could have taken action to block the Trump protest, will be partly responsible for any violence and destruction that occurs on January 6.

Police: Protesters outside Sen. Hawley home were ‘peaceful’

Officers were called to Hawley’s home in Vienna, a Washington suburb, home around 7:45 p.m. after someone reported that there were “people protesting in front of the house.” Officers who responded to the scene found that the “people were peaceful,” said Master Police Officer Juan Vazquez, a spokesman for the Town of Vienna Police Department.

Vazquez said the protesters had been violating several laws, including a Virginia code about picketing in front of a house, a town ordinance about making noise in front of a home and a littering code. But he said the officers explained the violations and “everyone just left.”

“There were no issues, no arrests,” he said. “We didn’t think it was that big of a deal.”

GOP clowns are such fucking faux drama queens.  And their rube supporters fall for it time and time again.

So this is cool, right? Violently disrupting a group of praying Christians minding their own business...

Can't think of anything much more 'FA'  than attacking a group that poses absolutely zero threat to anyone just because you don't like what they're saying...

In any event, what does any of this have to do with the government?  Authoritarian or otherwise?

The caption alone indicates that whatever that is represented to be is complete bullshit.

And then you go look at the twitter feed and it's full of Jack Posobiec and Candace Owens.   And then you know that it is bullshit of the purest ray serence.

I mean, it would be cool to have the proper context. It’s certainly not cool to have out-of-town provocateurs instigating bullshit on the reg. And not cool that Antifa feels the need to get violent as part of a counter protest. But then again, it sure looks like the “peacefully praying” group came in expecting a fight.

And, for anyone that doubt's Rev. Currie's bona fides, here's a right wing site acknowledging that it's Pawlowski. https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politics/victoria-taft/2021/08/08/where-is-your-god-now-portland-cops-do-nothing-as-antifa-attacks-prayer-event-led-by-persecuted-christian-pastor-n1467987

But he's persecuted!

Do your own research and find out why street preacher Art Pawlowski might be "persecuted."

Well, when you accept that the idea of the separation of church and state was a fun idea, but never stood a chance in hell of occurring, then it’s a lot easier to deal with.  They’ve made it quite a chill war, but it’s a war, nonetheless

He made a correction on his tweet it seems. The event was planned a month ago, and I'm going to make a guess both PB and AF we're going to go as soon as it was announced.

Wait, a foreigner comes to our country and foments discord in our streets? First, Gitmo, then permanent expulsion back to Canada, where his ilk belongs.

The Kenny Rogers lookalike with the baton was arrested for storming the capitol, and the asshole in the track pants sure looks like convicted rapist Bob West.

Every single fucking time you guys try this gotcha bullshit, it takes like ten seconds to realize that y'all are defending some of the absolute worst people on earth. Good work, dipshits. Keep it up.

RDC isn't trying to ride in that pickup or defend them.  Also, is that guy aiming a can of mace?  I was told they were prayer worshipers that were maced while praying and doing god's work in riot gear. Was I lied to?  Tell me they're not using Christianity as a shield for their hatred and thuggery.  They weren't loving thy brother or loving their neighbors as they would themselves?  That would seem disingenuous.  I was told that a bunch of tourists were in town on January 6th sightseeing the capitol.  Was that wrong too?
