The CHAZ

I can't believe no one is talking about a new small zone in Seattle that isn't part of America now.

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8409067/Trump-says-domestic-terrorists-taken-Seattle-demands-CHAZ-retaken.html

"Protesters who have formed a free zone in Seattle to keep police out spent the night dancing in the street, dining on free vegan pizza and watching movies under the watch of armed guards, after being deemed 'domestic terrorists' by a furious President Trump who has ordered Democrats to regain control of the city.

The protesters have formed a six-block area they are now calling CHAZ - Capital Hill Autonomous Zone - in revolt against the police.

There are armed people there but the majority, according to those at the scene, are peaceful. Some Seattle residents say they have walked through the area with their dogs at night and that it is 'more peaceful' than when the National Guard were there.  There are free stations offering sunscreen, hand sanitizer and snacks, and plant and flower gardens have been set up.

On Wednesday night, the occupants voted on a movie to watch in the street. They settled on the 1990 film Paris is Burning. Trump has ordered that the block be dismantled."

Nollette said police had received reports that protesters allegedly set up barricades, " with some armed individuals running them as checkpoints into the neighborhood."
"While they have a constitutionally-protected right to bear arms, and while Washington is an open carry state, there is no legal right for those arms to be used to intimidate community members," Nollette said, adding that anyone subjected to these demands should call 911.
"No one at these checkpoints has the legal authority to demand identification from anyone."

Nollette also said police have "heard anecdotally" of residents and businesses being asked to pay a fee if they want to operate in the area. "This is the crime of extortion," Nollette said.

“The homeles [sic] people we invited took away all the food at the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone,” the person tweeted. “We need more food to keep the area operational. please if possible bring vegan meat substitutes, fruits, oats, soy products, etc. – anything to help us eat.”

It's almost as if these idiots didn't plan ahead. Hmm.

Bait thread is bait.

And outside of CR, surprisingly

EDIT: And of fucking course the Seattle PD chief would say he's "hearing anecdotes" that the police need to come and break it up. Seattle police never lie so we should believe them at face value without any evidence whatsoever

This is news.

No confirmation, but good luck to any of that.  Haven't seen this at the airport - epic unibrow though

Twitter user “lauracouc” has become somewhat of a leader among participants in the autonomous zone. The transgender activist, describing themselves as a “lesbian anarchist” who wants to “abolish whiteness,” has been busy collecting donations, making supply runs, and advocating for guns to be brought into the Cal Anderson Park where a tent city has been erected for the rioters to live in.

Lauracouc has also had their ‘hands full’ with another task: molesting other members.

According to at least two exes and one current partner, the leader of the autonomous zone has repeatedly abused the women that they’ve been with.

One user wrote, “I’m her ex. Even if she isn’t doing it consciously, she has done things like this on multiple occasions, including assaulting [people], and, despite acknowledging she’s in the wrong, has refused treatment. She has threatened suicide numerous times. She’s not being gaslit.”

I do think this thread provides the appropriate opportunity to recognize one Chaz Jankel, pop-singer in the 1980s who's song "Number One" was featured in the iconic 1980s movie Real Genius.  Please, let's keep any debate about Chaz Jankel civil, or I'll tell the mods on you.

There's a really good burger place in Capitol Hill called Li'l Woody's. It's not located in The Chaz but I'm sure they'll set up a trade agreement with The Chaz very soon.

But will they set tariffs to protect any nascent burger joints within the CHAZ?

Or by the bus stop in front of Dan’s Belltown Grocery.  Always get hassled going in and out of there.
