Things you really just don't get...

Golf.

Played it several times.  A complete and total waste of time, money, and land.  I've tried to get into it a few times but I just really don't get it.

I feel like the Ben character on "Parks and Rec" when they keep prodding him to finally give in and understand why Li'l Sebastian is so awesome.  And he nodingly agrees and then looks back at the camera like "I have no idea why they think that little horse is so awesome."

Smoking.  "Hey, I think I'll light something on fire and try to breathe through it."  I understand the addiction.  I don't understand the desire to try it in the first place.

I get weed. It's natural and from the Earth (as long as it has not been cut with other chemicals) and you get a feeling from it. I don't smoke weed but I do get it.

But I absolutely do not get cigarettes. I mean the reason they do it so often is because they are dependent and addicted. But what drew them to a nasty ass cigarette in the first place?

I don't mind playing golf. I play a couple times a year with my FIL. I'm no good, but it's an okay way to spend an afternoon in rural Texas on an uncrowded course where you don't have to stand around and wait 15 minutes between holes. What I can't stand are golf bros.

Mountain Climbing

Off Roading

Getting high/drunk - I think it's rather childish behavior.

Heartbreaking to see a gorgeous young lady with a heater.

The desire to own an SUV. I could see buying one if you needed it for a job, same as a wheelbarrow or a weedeater, but there are people who desire SUVs?

Any club/church/organization with a precise rule-defined hierarchy. That pecking-order shit is for baboons.

Probably my biggest dead-zone of understanding is why anybody checks social media for any reason other than to sell something.

I like sitting up higher and having room for all my kids' junk.

You sit up a little higher

Great flexibility - 3rd row seats/fold down the rear seat for more storage

I don't get why people bitch about social media on social media.

Chip and Joanna Gaines (sp, dgaf)

Seriously before COVID had friends come into town from California and offered to do anything they wanted thinking they’d pick something in Austin, San Antonio (where in-laws live) or one of the little tourist cities in between like Fredericksburg and they just wanted to go to fucking Waco where we stood in line for like 2 hours to get in this stupid little store where dumbass shit was overpriced.  We had to talk them out of going to the bakery which would have been another hour in line.  I can understand liking a home improvement show but why the fuck do people go crazy for this cult of personality shit is beyond me.

You don't get why people are into BBQ, beer, nor porn?  What the fuck?  That's best left to "Unpopular Opinions"

I took this thread to be more like, stuff that's fairly mainstream, fairly popular across all sectors, and you don't hate it, you just never understood why it go so big.

And porn is supposed to feel empty.  That's the whole point.  If it was spiritually fulfilling, it would be considered cheating.

Of course. But that will never happen. Therefore I don’t really get why people are into it so much.

Eh, for adults it's fairly harmless. Unless you're a dude wanting to watch a chick shove her fist up some dudes ass.

Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Sure, they're beautiful pieces of garage sculpture. If you're going to ride anywhere, you paid double in order to conform to the preferences of strangers in some mythical biker bar who'd really rather you not hang out with them while they're trying to talk business. And yes, they see your Harley doo-rag and your Harley Stripper-from-Castro-circa-1981 leather vest. Just go away.
