I'm not the guy who characterized this entire movement as violent anarchist marxists, and dismissed the whole fucking thing with a convenient handwave.  Which, I concede, is much easier than listening to those uppity black folks and their allies.

Portland had been protesting for weeks prior to the Feds showing up. It was winding down because they were being completely ignored by the National media. That was until they stumbled onto Federal property which finally caused a reaction from law enforcement. Said law enforcement has gone as far as to say, protest anywhere else and we won’t respond. If it were about peacefully gathering they would simply go anywhere else. If it’s about picking a fight and getting material for twitter videos you go back to the Federal courthouse and force a confrontation like they have done every night since. The Federal officers aren’t even outside until the protest forces their hand with weapons or fire. They have every chance to call the Feds bluff and have a peaceful protest, but that is clearly not the goal.

To your second paragraph, it does matter somewhat when that movement and its leaders have become the face for political donations to one side of the political apparatus. BLM is used as a cover to push through legislation that wouldn’t/couldn’t be done so in normal course (mob rule). BLM is not even a properly registered charity at this point. Simply a name for cover.

You are wasting your typing.

So why can't people understand that?  We can have a problem with an element of the protests but we can still support the greater cause.

It's like facism.  Unless you are lock step in tune you're on the other side.

We are “Americans like y’all” - if we think it is a bad thing if the Marxist leadership factions of the BLM are allowed to dominate the legitimate cause and if we think the violent anarchists are co-opting the movement.

I think there's some truth the the old wives tale, you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.  Does 100% peaceful protest get any where ?  I think noise has to be made. At what point does the message get lost, and it's nothing but violent protest ?  That's where this thing is headed if it's not already there.

Csb/ Mentioned on another thread, but I have family that works for the US Attorney in the Portland Federal courthouse.

There were no federal charges filed against anybody last night, which was a nice milestone.

Today the US Atty (not the grandstanding DHS mercenary goon squad, rather the Obama appointed permanent staffers) reiterated that they will always support peaceful demonstration. They believe there are only 250 or so people out of several thousand that are simply hell bent on violence without having a clear cause or agenda.

They just want the mercenaries to leave and for people to quit trying to destroy the building so they can get back to the mundane, like prosecuting heroin traffickers, etc.

Actually what they said was they were instigated by probably 2 groups ANTIFA members, and the maybe Boogaloo boys. They hit the neighborhood where my studio is located.

Why don’t they throw both of those into a locked “thunderdome” with a bunch of baseball bats?

Yes, that is what this thread is about

As I live in Richmond, and saw the shit those fuckers did to property around my studio, and I listened to the police officials this morning say it was suspected that those 2 groups were part of the rioters, yeah it's fucking cherry picking by a guy who purports to be a journalist.  Care to discuss it further ?

Maybe you have a problem with reading? As I already posted, this entire thread is cherry picking with no context so I’m just following the theme.

No you thought you'd come with a gotcha scoop. What you came with was half the truth, but carry on.

It's cute and wholly naive to think that even 20% of these current nightly events is actually about black lives. That horse left the barn about 2 weeks ago, in places like Portland. At this point if people are truly sincere then they need to be the change they expect. Join the police force, join the DA's office, get rid of the politicians/laws that protect shitty cops. You know, do the stuff that actually matters.

And how exactly is the below going to save lives or make someone sympathetic to the cause? What's the purpose? Any jackass can stand in traffic, begging to get ran over.

Don't even get me started on the 'selective outrage'. And yes, you CAN question why BLM is only popular with certain events and still not want to see black people murdered. Those who try to squash that conversation, need to remember that 'silence is consent'.

I'm glad it was recorded and has gotten so much traction.

I hope it is not because they are a trans femme and that they were arresting them for doing something illegal.

Keep us updated, thanks.

LOL right it’s the rest of us and not brisket who has gone off the deep end. If we had boards here like Quacks and West Mall from Hornfans it would be huge improvement. You’d actually have guys like me participating in the thunderdome Haha

BS,  he's trying to make it out to be a peaceful, hippie, love fest. The middle is there are many bad elements in among the protestors, and they're causing destruction, and violence, and it's not isolated incidents.  Yes there are white supremacists playing a role, but there are many BLM, ANTIFA members, and other bad actors orchestrating this as a pre planned violent protest.

He then doubles down with anecdotal evidence (which always gets shouted down around here... unless of course you're on the correct ream) about his peaceful marches, oh and his friends experiences as well.  Hell, that should settle it, all protests are peaceful, no violence, none at all.  Violence is an outlier by a few bad apples (using his bad cop analogy here, that wouldn't matter because they're all bad since a few are bad).

He continually makes broad sweeping  allegations in his posting habits:  "All cops are bad every single one".  "All republicans should be done way with every single one", (he's used both of those comments in posts in the recent past) then tries to accuse others of engaging in exactly what he does.  He's a hypocrite in his posting habits.

of course issues are multi faceted and nuanced.  what if you just want to go to school, get a job, have a family, pay your taxes, and not be a burden to the state?

I don't even understand what this question is supposed to elicit...

So what if you want to do those things? Is someone trying to stop you? Is someone telling you not to? Do you want someone to come to your house, give you a trophy, and tell you that you matter, too?

Cool they should join the people telling the feds to leave.

Is there legitimate source that can verify that is real?  It looks horribly acted.

Literal cops show up to keep the crowd at bay.

How many crisis actors do you suspect here?

The protests in Portland are still about black lives, as you would see if you listened to the speakers and watched the protesters signs/discussions. If all you're looking at is the fed-contrived drama at the fence then you're watching 50 people in a protest of many many thousands.

Most likely because the media you consume (either televised or social media) wants you to only see that insanely narrow perspective.

Joining the police force and joining the DA's office is not a way to accomplish things, are you joking?

Also, getting rid of politicians is a huge part of what they're doing by exerting pressure on their representatives and promoting challengers. Again, are you joking?

Damaging police cameras?

Well, it’s a relief to know this dangerous criminal is off the street and all other crime has been stopped.

Yeah we should just let anarchists roam the streets destroying public and personal property with no consequences.

Since the topic is "tactics", I think the NYPD tactic here is essentially terroristic in nature, meaning using ununiformed cops to throw people into unmarked vans is specifically done in order to stoke fear among protesters. And while people who damage property should be held subject to relevant law in a just and fair legal system, purposefully making their arrest look extrajudicial is unacceptable.

Right, clearly the solution is goon squads in unmarked cars grabbing them off the streets!   With 20 or 30 normal cops standing guard in spandex with  bicycles.
