Given how badly we'd played since Jota got hurt outside of one Palace destruction, this is entirely expected. Southampton played us beautifully. Fair play to them. Congrats @yoladu

usually a good way to get your heart broken. I thought for sure Liverpool would get the equalizer in the 80th minute and the winner in extra time.

Hasanhuttl is a good manager. Somehow he is setting up this team to succeed. I wouldnt say Southampton has a ton of talent on this team (not like the Koeman years)

Still think Saints end up anywhere between 9th and 12th.

I realize you're sandbagging a bit but you're also underselling the amount of talent in the current Southampton squad. He's out for a few weeks but Vestergaard was arguably the best CB in the league prior to his injury. Ward-Prowse is the best dead ball specialist in the league and Ings and Adams are a legit strike partnership. Romeu is underrated as hell. You guys should finish right around sixth or seventh, depending on getting/staying healthy.

well, with liverpool dropping so many points over the last three, it is now a clustered up packing from 10 all the way up to 1 now.  should make for a more entertaining spring than we have had in a while - ironic given the lack of ability of fans to go to games.  two weeks and the top half of the table can look completely different.

through 17 games..

20/21 - 1st place / 10th place - separated by 7 points

19/20 - 1st place / 10th place - separated by 27 points

18/19 - 1st place / 10th place - separated by 21 points

17/18 - 1st place / 10th place - separated by 27 points

16/17 - 1st place / 10th place - separated by 22 points

It's going to be a mess

yeah, i feel like it is going to get worse before it gets better.

it's odd, i will will watch old (pre-pandemic) soccer highlights from my facebook feed and my first reaction is always "damn, look how in the stands they are all packed in like sardines."

It's funny how quickly things like, a stadium with no fans, becomes normalized in our heads.

Liverpool v Man U is on Peacock tomorrow. I *pay* for Peacock and this still makes me ragey. And I assume they will have Monster Jam on instead.

It’s the two biggest name clubs and the top two teams in the table and they put it on a pay service that no one can see. Terrible way to sell your product.

well, my best friend signed up for Peacock this morning to watch the game.  so it worked on him.  but i guess that's the million dollar question - what's most important to NBC?  is it selling Peacock subscriptions in the short term or selling the Premier League to the U.S. market in the long term?  i think we know the answer, and NBC probably chose poorly.

fosse posse 38/19

scum on 37/18

city 35/17

the halfway leader will have 38, 39, 40 or 41

86 points is "usually" enough to win the prem

https://www.bradyharanblog.com/blog/a-million-seasons

96/97 scum finished on 75 with the lowest winning tally, 7 clear of newcastle

The fact that after all of this, City is sitting with the highest possible point total is.... something.
