Brighton 3 -0 Newcastle

Brighton pulls out of the relegation scrap and pushes Newcastle squarely into it.

the run-in does not look good for Newcastle. Where do they get points? Will they still be close enough for those last 2 matches to matter?

15 Burnley (a)

05 West Ham (h)

06 Liverpool (a)

10 Arsenal (h)

03 Leicester (a)

01 Man City (h)

Unless Leicester is planning on doing another fade like last season, I’m not sure why they are included in this comparison.

and if your assuming that, you might as well include ManU too.

Leicester is 7 points up on 5th place. Man U is 11 points up on 5th. Those are much different situations.

tottenham and chelsea both left the door wide open for liverpool and everton this weekend.  everton now two games in hand and 5 points off fourth place miraculously.

that means there is a whole bunch of free money to be made out there today if you go hard on betting crystal palace for the outright win.

Counter point - that’s literally offsides.

The bigger problem is that they should go to VAR, see it’s super close and say “we’re done” and call it a goal. It’s not an egregiously bad call. If you leave every offside like this up to VAR, then your going to get these calls “well a hair on his knee was offside so no goal”.

But if your going to say “close enough, we’re not looking” it then becomes a question of what’s the standard? When do you say it’s big enough to look?

Frankly dump VAR for offsides. It’s ridiculous to try to make mm close calls in 3D from blurry, 2D pictures.
