Kansas is Hopeless...

Doesn’t Kansas only have one player committed? How does that even happen?

We actually picked up 2 three star kids this weekend and have a couple of 4 stars visiting over the next week. They aren’t home run kids but one of the 3 stars is widely considered one of the best KC recruits.  Donte Starks is an LSU commit and he has backed off his commitment to visit Kansas this week. His banner picture on Twitter was changed to a pic of him wearing a Ku Jersey. One of the kids pulled this weekend was a KSU commit, which hurting them only helps us. Especially with in-state guys.

I cant remember this much excitement in recruiting, ever. Les is doing exactly what he was hired to do during the off-season. Can’t wait to see how it plays out this spring and next fall.

Fairchild is a good pickup, that kid can play either side.  Andale has been a powerhouse for decades and this kid has good size.  Probably ends up at LB.

Jayden Russell is the #5 ranked recruit in KS.  That's a damn good haul for the first real recruiting weekend Les has had since he got into town.  Long way to go before signing day and then before they get on campus in august but the uncertainty at KSU and the new hires are really helping KU get off to a good start.

Only 2 Kansas Committments

Les gonna have to really work some magic to put any kind of 2019 Recruiting Class together -----Tough Roster Situation at KU

Les will probably recruit like crazy between NSD1 and NSD2 for unsigned undervalued recruits to fill KU Roster.   What are the most glaring roster needs for KU Football??    (Opening myself up for gif bombs...)

No doubt there is a ton of work. The excitement is about how we have gotten rolling since he has been here. I don’t think anyone but miles expects more than 2 wins next year. That’s a good thing. That recruiting page isn’t updated fully yet but in the last week we have quadrupled the size of our recruiting class. That wasn’t going to happen with another year of Beaty and that might not have happened with any other hire we would have made. The fact that it is reported that 100 kids have sent in recruiting requests to Kansas is only a good thing. Hopefully with the staff halfway full we’ll see the rock start rolling downhill.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (WIBW) - Kansas football had plenty of new additions to address on Tuesday.

First, KU officially announced its hire of Emmett Jones as wide receivers coach. Jones comes from Texas Tech, where he spent three seasons.

"The players he has worked with have really flourished under his guidance," Kansas head coach Les Miles said in a release. "He has developed them to have highly productive careers in college and also to go on to find success at the next level. His familiarity with the Big 12 landscape will also help us greatly in recruiting."

Multiple receivers to receive NFL opportunities played under Jones in Lubbock. They include Dylan Cantrell and Keke Coutee. He's also coached productive college wideouts like T.J. Vasher and Antoine Wesley, who was named an All-Big 12 First Team player by the Associated Press.

Maybe Jones will see Thomas MacVittie throwing to his wide receivers in Lawrence. MacVittie, who is the top-rated junior college quarterback in the country for the class of 2019 according to 247Sports.com, announced his verbal commitment to the Jayhawks on Tuesday.

"I am ready to join the Kansas family and win a Big XII title," MacVittie wrote in a screenshotted message that he posted to Twitter on Tuesday.

MacVittie started his collegiate career at Pittsburgh. He will have two years of eligibility left and is the only quarterback commitment for KU's class of 2019.

Donte Starks (4* LB) just posted to twitter that he wishes grown men in LA would stop criticizing his visit to KU and that he is sick of them not respecting his choices.  Then someone wiht a relative in the LSU AD (supposedly) posted that the coaching staff at LSU thinks he's going to flip to Kansas.

Ku staff is putting in major work this week.

Good article on WR Coach Emmett Jones (formerly w/Tech)

https://247sports.com/college/kansas/Article/KU-football-hires-former-Texas-Tech-assistant-Emmett-Jones-as-wide-receivers-coach-126233789/

Mentions 4 Star WDE Steven Parker  (Decommit from Tech)  with some interest in Kansas (Jones was one of Parker's Tech recruiters)

(TCU still projected to end up getting Parker)

Kentucky  folks were glad when DJ Eliot left for Colorado since Stoops had to take over defensive play-calling during Eliot's final season at Kentucky.

So Elliot wasn't as much of a benefit to the Wildcats' defense as advertised, I didn't know that...

I'm ok with it.  We absolutely cannot get any worse than what we have been for the last 10 years.  Like statistically, it is impossible I believe.  Our DC has statistically had the worst 10 year run as a DC in the history of the NCAA.  That's serious.  Just like Beaty is the 3rd worst coach of all time with a minimum of 3 years coaching.

Drake has deep roots in LA.  It''s pretty obvious that Miles' strategy is to milk the dirty south for anything he can get and let those kids compete in the big12 offenses and defenses.

Does anyone know the style of ball being played down there right now?  I know Texas high schools are mostly spread at this point.  Is the south headed the same direction with the NFL going after those offenses?  If they aren't, I'm sure Bama going pass heavy will convert them.

I think our only option is to do a team vote... then sit him for an entire year (redshirt) and then make him "earn" his way back on the team.  Otherwise we have to give him up to a much better P5 school.  Allegedly, this kind of stuff, and academics, was why he wasn't highly recruited.

Why the fuck would he do that when he could play 4 games as a redshirt at OU

KU has put a dent in the Sunflower State recruiting this cycle, that's good to see in such short time Les has been in Lawrence...

Per Pigmeat  (provides good Tech Intel)

"Former TT asst. and newly hired Emmett Jones offering TT recruits right and left. Extensive South Oak Cliff and area connections."
